I will leave Altima by the end of the month because of my moving and it's more advantageous for me to bundle everything with another provider. I called them once as my download speed degraded, but it was addressed rapidly: the cable company had some works in my area and Altima used this cable service. I had good and reliable performance. These guys are Scammers. They gave a us a two week estimate to restore our internet after it failed. We canceled our internet service because it was choppy and cut out for hours at a time. They then charged us for devices we had already returned, saying that we had not sent them back even though we already did. They are still trying to charge us a fee for not returning their devices to this day and they also want the previous devices that we have as well. The person who helped us didn't tell us to get proof so we didn't save a receipt. If you used to be an Apsis Communication customer and had to switch to Altima, check your finances. Recently, they took over Apsis Communications, where I had my account for several years and was very happy. Even though I wasn't enrolled in automatic payments with Apsis, I did use my credit card on their website to pay my bill, Altima used my card details to withdrew a much larger amount than my invoice without applying the payment to my account, which is not only frustrating but deceptive. I reached out via email first to ask how they got my credit card info, why they charged nearly double, and why the extra money wasn't credited or used towards my invoice. Unfortunately, their response was pretty unprofessional--they even referenced a name that wasn't mine, which felt off. Then, I finally got through to customer service over the phone. They explained that automatic billing problems are a known issue since the acquisition and that they're working on fixing it. Honestly, I find it concerning that they aren't proactively informing customers to keep an eye on their accounts if these problems are so widespread. It kind of felt like they might be misleading customers and hoping no one will notice if they take funds. While talking on the phone, I asked to cancel my services with a 10-day notice--more than the 7 days the website suggests. The rep asked if I wanted to switch to Koodo or Telus, which are owned by Altima as well. I asked several times for an email confirmation that my services would be canceled on November 14; she kept saying "yes, yes" and then just transferred me to the loyalty department instead of giving me a clear confirmation. The call center environment was pretty unprofessional too. The representative was often talking to someone in Tagalog, chewed gum, coughed into the phone, and I could overhear other staff conversations nearby. All in all, my experience with this company has been really disappointing, slimy and not at all professional. read more

I was with citywide for 5 years with no issues, they sold out to Altima a month or so ago and I've been hard down for 5 days with no resolution in sight. I've spoken with 6 different "technical support"agents. trouble shot with them for 4.5 hours over the 5 days and each one said they would find a resolution and call me back. Not a single one has called back. Today, they agreed to send a technician from Eastlink...with no ETA, but "hopefully in the next day or two". I asked for a supervisor, they said they can ask one to call me back...absolutely the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. We had been loyal Netfox customers for nearly 10 years when it was purchased by Altimatel. Netfox was reasonable, with great, nearly instant customer service if there were any problems, of which there were few. We received an email saying that the migration would begin almost immediately, and that we needed to pay Altimatel in advance per month of the subscription. The speed and reliability of the connection dropped INSTANTLY, and the ability to connect with an actual person evaporated just as quickly. We were told that the quality of internet service would improve after the final migration, which were told would take approximately 4 weeks, so we waited. Over the course of two frustrating weeks, we didn't go through one day without disruption. We called Altimatel, who informed us that we needed to call Netfox. We were PAYING ALTIMATEL, but they could tell us anything beyond their migration timeline, which was foggy at best. We made another call about a week later, this time the person on the phone laughed to himself that we'd been told that migration would be a mere 4 weeks, and that they couldn't actually predict when the migration would happen, or when the service would improve. I called Virgin and set up an appointment for a tech to install their service - 3X the speed, and 0 downtime in the several months we've had them - and called Altimatel to cancel theirs the hour Virgin was complete. During my phone call to cancel service, I was transferred no fewer than 3 times, having to request cancellation twice, all the while being offered better service than they were currently giving me (if you consider no service, service), putting me on hold only to come back with more offers. I finally had to - almost rudely - demand that they stop giving me options and simply cancel my service. Garbage customer service is worse than a bad product, but not by much in this case. We have a Virgin mobile family plan bundled with our home internet. It's not the cheapest, but it's by far the best service we've ever experienced, from text messages with tech support, to that tech calling me at home when it was most convenient to arrange every detail of our migration from Altimatel. Thinking of Altimatel? F*cking DON'T. They don't deserve the one star I'm begrudgingly about to click on. read more

Service is crap. Only been with this company for 2 months, that wasnt my decision then charged me twice for 1 month and will not fix the problem. Then discounted my srevice for less then 30 day over due. I paid them 130 to turn back on was told 1 hour it would be back on and 16 hours later still not internet. The randomly started billing me. 3 months. they have since reduced the balance to zero but I continue to receive past due notice and then saying I have zero balance to pay. I paid my bill through e-banking. I had forgotten that I had pre-authorized my credit card for billing. After paying them through e-banking, they billed by credit card on Jan 10, 24. I called to get a refund for the double payment. They claim they issued one (still haven't received it). They said wait 3-4 business days. I was content with waiting. On Jan 17, 24 Altima called me to inform me that they had in fact issued the refund. The next day (Jan 18, 24), I was informed by email that they billed my credit card again. I called in. I told them that they had billed me again. Once again they said they would issue a refund. I was irritated, and accepted what they said. The next night (Jan 19, 24) they billed me again. Three times now I've been billed on my credit card. I called them, and was extremely disgruntled. They claim to have issued me a refund. They hung up on me twice when I asked to speak to a manager. The third time I called, their agent told me that they had again issued a refund, and that he would give me a credit. After ordering internet service, and receiving the equipment, Altima sent an email advising me that they actually didn't provide service in my area and asked that I return the equipment. By far, the absolute WORST service I've ever received in my life. Our modem MELTED!!!! (Defective Equipment) and they told me a new one would be sent in 2 day maximum. J'ai appelé pour annuler mes services à la fin de ma période de facturation, dans 3 semaines. On n'a déconnectée au bout de quelques jours. J'ai appelé pour rectifier le tout, on m'a dit que le service serait revenu en 24 heures et que c'était une erreur de leur part. Entre temps on m'envoie des factures pour les 2 prochains mois, à un prix de 30$/mois plus élevé que ce que je payais, et le courriel dit que je dois payer pour réactiver le service. Je les rappelle et on me dit de ne pas m'en occuper, comme je vais annuler mes services dans quelques semaines, je n'aurai pas à payer... Bon. 24 heures plus tard, je rappelle, car l'Internet n'est toujours pas revenu... L'agent me dit que la note à mon dossier est que mon matériel est désuet et qu'on doit m'envoyer du nouveau matériel pour ravoir internet!!! Je lui demande de m'expliquer pourquoi 3 agents m'ont dit la veille que le service serait revenu en 24 heures... Il ne sait pas quoi dire et n'est d'aucune utilité. Absolute abhorrent customer service. I was punted over from Transat Telecom after paying Transat a $55 fee to retain my price & plan after moving. They took one month fee and then passed me off to Altima. Altima had my address wrong, so I couldn't access their online system, and their phone system wouldn't let me do anything because the number I was calling from didn't match the address they had on file. It took several emails and a few weeks to finally get this corrected. So much for adding a credit card for pre-authorized payment, so I decided to pay my invoice through my bank. My account wasn't getting credited, so after much more time trying to track down where my payment went, I come to realize they changed my account number and credited my payment to someone else! To top it all off, they want to charge me a late fee!! I'm done and it's been a week now of trying to get them to acknowledge my cancellation request & send me a prepaid return envelope for the equipment and I am still wasting time. MY ADVICE is to REPORT Altima Telecom to the CRTC and lodge a complaint for your issues. The CEO's, Managers & Directors have ignored every email sent to them about my many issues, as well. Again REPORT them to the CRTC and make your issues known to the BBB as a documented reporting source. read more

I'll try to keep this short. but its been a long experience. Altima Telecom have stolen money from me. and have refused to return it by the date agreed they've stated they would. I signed up for their 30Mb cable plan on the 29th of June. for the service to be on and activated for the 31st of July. I have this confirmed by telephone, a verbal contract. (which I had recorded) Come the 31st of July, I have no service, that weekend still no service, through to the Wednesday of the next week still no service. I called each day to ask why, and the only response I got was that they were working on it and they would "put a note in my file" and coordinate with their technical department. By Wednesday the 5th of August, I had enough with the repeated responses. I asked for a full refund. they tried to only give me back the cost of the plan, but I pushed to claim the cost of postage of their ZTE router and modem back also considering no service was active at my address. I demanded a pre-paid postal label for the return shipping. I was told that I would receive my refund once the box was returned. -THIS WAS A LIE! once the boxes were returned, I called the next day that Canada post confirmed the box was delivered. I was told that I needed to wait 3 days to confirm with their warehouse that the box was returned. after informing them of what I was promised in the call previous they insisted that I had to wait, I accepted to wait the 3 more days they needed to confirm the contents of the box. 3 days later I call once more, to receive the exact same demand, I need to wait an additional 3 more days to have the boxes checked. I argued with the customer service rep, explaining that I have already waited the time I was requested by the previous rep, and that they have had the boxes in their possession for 4 days. At this point the rep was able to start the return. she said that the return would be issued by E-Interac bank transfer to my Email address, and I needed to confirm by E-mail that my email could receive the interac. I followed the directions of the rep to confirm my email then was told and was stated in the email that I would receive my refund within 3-5 days. thinking it was finally over I waited the 5 days, to receive nothing. no email, no message, not in spam folder not lost anywhere. just not done. I called again to find out what they where doing and like my internet services they didn't know what was going on and why I still was not getting my refund. so the rep was only able to "put a note in my file" to message accounting department that they've missed me. they promised that I would get a call back with an update "soon" and that I would be informed of any changes in the situation. this was on the 22nd of August over 3 weeks of calls and waiting for no result at all, just empty promises. Since that time, I've been waited 12 additional days, without an answer. I've contacted the CCTS without answer, I've sent a formal notice to Altima telecom to return my property or face legal action. and now I write reviews about my experience with Altima Telecom because it seems they don't honor what they promise. To any potential customers of Altima.
