I been there a total of 3 times and have decided that they do not deserve my business. Here's why:
1st visit: I went to get my wisdom tooth pulled. Before going forward with the procedure, the dentist made bets with the other dental staff on how fast he could take the tooth out. Extremely unprofessional, especially considering I paid hundreds for the procedure and not all was covered by insurance.
2nd visit: I went for a cleaning in 2015 and the procedure seemed to take longer than I expected. They overcharged me. I was told that my teeth required more attention and the checkups were more thorough because it was my first cleaning at the establishment. By the way, my teeth are in very good condition and there are no issues except a bit of plaque that naturally builds up in areas over the past 12 months. I wasn't too familiar with what the standard treatment times were but felt something was wrong.
3rd visit: I went for the annual cleaning again this year as they recommended. I was overcharged by an estimated $100 out of my own pocket as they used 2 units of "periodontic" cleaning instead of "preventative" cleaning. They also coincidentally always take longer on the more expensive things, which are those that are covered least by dental coverages. This is when I decided to write this. Altima will never tell you what to expect until the treatments are done and you're hit with the bill.
In addition, they recommended me get fillings even though I don't have cavities. When I described my experiences with a friend, he mentioned practices that would put my experiences to shame. I approached my employer about this and was told to avoid Altima at all cost based on other people's experiences. Now I understand and completely agree. read more
