TL;DR. This review is less about the quality of Jasmine's tailoring, and more about the unprofessionalism and extreme lack of consideration she showed me. I never imagined experiencing so much stress so close to my wedding day, or that I would be in a position where I wound up asking the police for help! NO BRIDE should EVER have to go through what I did with Jasmine. The short story: Over 4 months of business with her, Jasmine cancelled and rescheduled appointments with me 5 times and even no-showed me one time. I was supposed to pick up my completed gown less than 2 weeks before leaving town for my wedding, and it took her 4 tortuous days (see details below) after cancelling that appointment to actually return it to me. In those days, I requested my gown back 7 times, no matter what state of alterations it was in. She made no attempt to help me identify a solution to retrieve the gown during those several days. Instead, she broke several promises and made no efforts to prove that the gown was being worked on and would be complete. She avoided my texts, calls, and emails, and the local police even tried to involve her building owner to get her to contact me back. I should NEVER have been in the position that I was literally begging for my possibly unfinished wedding gown back so close to my wedding day. The long story: After dropping off my gown on Dec 12th for my March 19th wedding, Jasmine same-day cancelled on me several times for my 1st fitting appointment, citing reasons including that she was sick from the COVID vaccine, then her daughter's friend tested positive for COVID and had been at their home all week, and then she double-booked the appointment. At one point she took an entire week to respond to me to reschedule. I finally had my 1st fitting on Feb 10th, 2 months after I first came to her shop and one month before my wedding. My 2nd fitting was scheduled for Feb 24th, and she did not cancel or reschedule, though the gown needed more work. She told me not to worry, that it would be done within the next 3 weeks before my wedding. The biggest issue lies in my final appointment that was scheduled for Sat. March 5th at 12pm. She cancelled at 9:30am the day of, stating that she was on her way to get a COVID test. She told me she had **ONE HOUR** worth of work left to do on the gown and we agreed I would pick it up the next day, Sunday, at 10am. On Sunday she cancelled at 8am and said she needed until noon at least but promised it would be done that day. At noon, she said she needed about 2 more hours. At 3:30pm she said she "just realized/ remembered that [my gown] is Sottero Midgley Collection. Her construction is always extremely difficult to alter", and she was still promising that it would be done that day. We spoke on the phone at 9:45 pm, and she agreed to send me a video of the dress showing what was left to be done (which I never received) and that I would come pick up my gown on Monday. Despite twice asking me to come on Monday and promising me I could get my gown that afternoon, she ultimately was not there all day. She finally texted me at 3:45pm and said she was sick with strep, and then she did not respond to me for the rest of the day. That is when I contacted the local police who also made efforts to contact her (and her building owner) to try to get her to respond to me and resolve the issue. Tuesday morning (now 4 days after I was supposed to pick up my completed gown, and 1 week before I needed to leave town), she texted me saying, "I am at home soooo sick I can barely move. I don't think you want to get sick. I have never in 28 years not gotten a dress done. I will call you when I get to the store". Later that day she asked what time I was available on Wednesday. I even offered to pay for a cab for her employee to meet me at the shop to give me my gown on Tuesday, which she refused. I FINALLY got my gown back from her Tuesday at 8:30pm. It thankfully was complete and did fit, but I had to take it into another seamstress to fix a hole in the skirt in addition to several issues with the bustle, hem, and zipper. She also had not made my veil so I had to purchase one last minute. Throughout all of that, Jasmine made no attempt to help me find a solution or assure me that she was making progress on the gown. That inconsiderate behavior put me in a desperate situation where I had to spend my time creating numerous contingency plans in case I could not get the gown back or picked up a gown in pieces (as she has done to other brides just days before their wedding [see past reviews]). Even being sick, she had several opportunities to return the gown to me or at the least to send me a photo/video of it. She texted one brief "I'm sorry" and "I am not in the business to upset my clients". Her horrible communication in an increasingly difficult situation and complete lack of respect for her client's time and energy is no way to run a business!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Jasmine has lied from the beginning and then delivered damaged goods. Making excuse after excuse to not deliver on time and finally hand over a gown that has been ruined because she rushed. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Dropped my dress off to Jasmine in September for my wedding in January. Had multiple fittings. Every fitting I came to nothing had been done. I was suppose to pick my finished dress up on January 5th at 2pm. She called me January 5th at 11am to inform me that the dress had not been touched since December 4th. I went to the shop on January 6th. The dress was till not completed and at this point was 5 inches too small due to a seamstress error. Gave her the weekend to fix it came in on Monday January 10th to my dress torn apart again. She claimed that the dress would be done Monday the 10th. January 11th I had an appt to pick up the FINISHED dress at 5pm. She called me at 4:30 and said she needed another hour. Got to the shop at 6pm and my dress was still all cut up and pinned. She said she need a 1/2 hour. I gave her a 1/2 hour knowing that it wasn't going to be finished. I took the dress. I'm now 3 days away from wedding day and my dress is in pieces. I had to Emergently find a new seamstress. I got to the new seamstress and my dress once again DOES NOT FIT DUE TO SEAMSTRESS ERRORS. She was unable to complete my mothers gown for a previous event as well!! Beware she will not finish your products on time! read more

I would pick zero stars if that was an option For those that previously went to Alterations Unlimited in Brighton, please know they are under new ownership. Read google reviews (not just Facebook reviews) and be prepared for substantially higher prices that are not in line with the service provided. Examples: needed two inches taken in on spaghetti straps of a bridesmaid dress- average rate $15. Their rate $55. Let out, take in on another dress- average rate $45-65. Their rate $155. And they 'accidentally' added a $25 tip on before service was even completed. Therefore, I requested to pick up the dresses the day after the fitting as my daughter had no idea the cost of alterations. We paid for time spent on the fitting itself and were reluctantly provided a refund for the remainder and asked to never come back. From the fitting to the refund, the owner was extremely rude. I think people should be informed of what to expect when a highly regarded business changes hands and the dramatic difference in service and price. read more

They are very nice- but I WAY overpaid for a dress that was still ill fitted when picked up. All I needed was my straps shortened, and the flaps under my armpits taken care of. Jasmine kept the wedding dress for 3 months without touching it, but still said it would be done by the scheduled appointment. Day of appointment called and texted she needed a few more hours , which is her norm to do per reviews and Fox 2 article. She said she would refund my money the following Monday . DONT GIVE JASMINE YOUR BUSINESS. The lies, excuses and guilt trips to try and make you feel sorry for why she cancels appointments or doesn't have your dress done are endless and ridiculous. A bride left empty handed today on her way to her rehearsal because her dress was still not done the day before her wedding while I was there. My friend was supposed to pick my dress up at 9pm yesterday as jasmine promised to have it done for the 3rd day in a row and when it wasn't done she asked my friend to lie and not tell me and to come get it the next day. I showed up the next day and sat on the couch for 2 hours until it was done. No one deserves to be treated this way especially with something so important as a wedding dress. read more

I bought my dress in April for my wedding in July. I was recommended to go to Alterations Unlimited by The White Dress in Brighton. My dress one size too big. I started alterations right after I bought my dress to have plenty of time to have it altered. I ended up going to appointments for this about 6 times, spent 3 times what I spent on my dress originally and was asked for a tip every time I put in my credit card to pay. My dress was totally changed from what I originally bought. It did not resemble the beautiful dress that I originally bought. It looked terrible!! I ended up buying another dress a week before my wedding. I was lucky and found one that fit perfect. Going here was a miserable experience. read more

I have taken everything from jeans, to a suit I bought for my graduate school interview, to my maid of honor dress for my best friends wedding here to get altered! I have taken clothes to Alterations Unlimited on several occasions, over the past few years. They have always done quality work, at reasonable prices. I recently asked them to alter some of my shirts, by reducing the length of the hem, to allow for a better "untucked" look. AU did an outstanding job. This is the worst place I've ever had alter any of my dresses for my events! I dropped off my prom dress three weeks ago. Got it back today and it has snags everywhere, they didn't hem it to the right length, actually the length is uneven and didn't fix any of the sequences like I asked! They didn't even finish the hem and charged me 50 dollars. I would run from this place. The desk lady was rude when I dropped it off, should've taken the hint to leave then. This place is wonderful! They were able to alter my dress in about a week since I was pregnant. I was a little concerned about the quick turnaround time but, they reassured me that it was not going to be a problem. It turned out perfectly and I couldn't be happier with it! Compared to other shops in the area, the pricing cannot be beat either. This business used to be very good at alterations. The last two items that I had repaired we're not done correctly. When I drew it to their attention it seemed that they did not want to address it. DO NOT USE THIS BUISNESS - especially for something as important as a wedding dress! I was recommended to this business after not being able to schedule alterations with the seamstress at my dress shop. My maid of honor had also had a bad experience with this shop, but due to time constraints, I was unable to shop around. I should've never taken it there, as it looked a million times better on the day that it came in, compared to how it looks in my wedding photos. First off, it took me SIX appointments to finally get my dress to a level at which it was somewhat okay again. ONE week before my wedding, I was literally shopping for a new dress because mine was unwearable due to poor alterations and MAJOR bunching in my mid section. The back of my dress, near my butt, had 3 major rolls on each side of the zipper, taking away any smoothness around my butt. The buttons were put back on unevenly (literally crooked). And lastly, on the top of my dress all the way around, there was lace that was purposely sticking out and was one of my main attractions to the dress. Before they took the back of the dress in, I told them I wanted the lace to remain and they said it was no problem. On my next appointment, there was lace sticking out in the front of my dress but the back was completely smooth - therefore the front of my dress was completely different from the back. TWO days before my wedding, I was out of options and finally decided to wear my dress the way it was. On my wedding day, my dress was already bustled, not to my knowledge. Therefore, the dress was given back to me from this business bustled in the bag. I realized my dress was bustled AFTER my ceremony, halfway through my reception. My train was my favorite part of the entire dress. Clearly the bustle wasn't that great either, if I didn't notice it while at the church. There should be a significant difference in a dress that's bustled and one that isn't. While discovering my dress was already bustled, my bridesmaids discovered 3 loose pins still left in my dress. Unbelievable! After my wedding day, my husband complained to Cheryl and Kristin (employees at Alterations Unlimited) and they said that because I seemed happy on the day I picked it up, they would not be able to do anything about it. I WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OPTIONS 2 (TWO!!!!) DAYS BEFORE MY WEDDING! I had to be okay with whatever I was being handed. Now I have to deal with looking at my wedding photos and cringing at the way my dress fit me - when I absolutely loved it prior to any alterations. These people are amazing, I help run a men's clothing store and take a lot of my alterations to them. Some minor stuff I do myself but the quantity of suits and tuxedos I do is too much for us to handle all the alterations. The have never disappointed, not even once. I have taken hundreds of suits there and have never had to go back twice for something being altered incorrectly. They have done exquisite work; including slimming suits down, shortening pants and sleeves (lengthening too obviously) doing collar rolls, taking in or letting waists out and much more. Honestly I have not had them tell me no to something I needed done, at least so far that's the case. I highly recommend them. Considering the majority of my business is weddings I would say to any potential engaged couple to go here for something you need altered, and the best part? It doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to get it done. Most places try to charge me twice from what they do there. All I can say is this, I'd never go anywhere else for an alteration. read more
