With our wedding fast approaching and a delay in our replacement suit delivery we were in a bind and Alteration House came through and saved the day. The suit that arrived was just too bulky and needed to be tailored in nearly every way possible. They were able to hem the pants, take in the jacket to give it more form and a better fit, as well as shorten the sleeves. They were able to get this taken care of for us and had it ready before the projected due date. The fittings sessions were very easy going and comfortable, they communicated with us every step of the way and made sure we were satisfied customers. I had a bad experience in general. He was charging me $100 for a zipper replacement in a dress, and wanted me to buy it and bring it to him. I had expensive leather pants that needed to be tailored and he cut the lining shorter than the pants by 10" and charge me $140 for it. also the button was missing and didn't mind to replace it. made me wait outside for my appointment for 20 minutes and was not apologetic at all. and as if that were not enough! asked me for a tip and a good review! unbelievable... fortunately I found a very nice tailor in Clermont. Back story. I was 3 months postpartum when I purchased my wedding dress and the sales lady convinced me to order wayyyy to big of a dress (that's another story) even though I knew I was going to lose the weight. Shocker. I lost all of the weight and was stuck with a dress 3 sizes too big. I researched alterations people for months and felt the best one was Sean. This is over an hour and a half drive for me but I would drive double that for the excellent service I received. I know nothing about alterations so I had to completely trust his suggestions. My dress has to be taken in (a lot) and I wanted some of the the layers taken out so it wasn't such a ball gown. He had to completely re bead the back and I'm sure that wasn't easy. Long review made short- incredible and HIGHLY recommended. To go into detail, I had three weeks until the wedding and my bridesmaids dress wouldn't zip. The Alteration House is a one-man tailoring service. The owner/tailor, Sean, is very professional, and did a fantastic job tailoring my wedding gown. I was impressed by his attention to detail, his timeliness, and his price. My wedding was at the end of March, so I first made an appointment with Sean at the beginning of January. The booking system is online, and is very easy to use. I brought my dress in and showed it to him, and he insisted that, if I trust him, that I should come back at the beginning of March for my dress fitting. I'll admit, I was nervous to wait so long to have my dress tailored, but Sean wanted to make sure that my dress fit perfectly. After his work, it did. I had my dress taken in through the bodice and I had a bustle put in, and I was very happy with all the recommendations that he made. His office is out of his garage, so don't be alarmed when you drive into a subdivision for your first appointment--Sean is an absolute professional. read more

I would highly recommend you to avoid this business. We thought based on prior reviews this would be a great alteration service. On the front side Sean is nice and professional, but do not be swayed by this devious sales presentation. Once it came time to pickup the dress, there were additional fees, he forces you to tip an egregious amount, and last but not least continuously pressures you to write a 5 star review. I have no issue paying more for top quality customer service, but this could not have been a worse experience. My wife called me stating that she was nervous about her encounter with Sean and afraid to return by herself. I'm not sure if he was just having a bad day, but in no circumstances should a customer feel uncomfortable when going to a business. read more

I really hate to have to write this review, but I feel like it's important for other brides (or anyone in general). Sean is very nice and that's what made me trust him, I went to Sean in January to have my wedding dress altered for my March 20th wedding. Every appointment I went to (I believe 3-4 separate times) Sean would give a new reason as to why he couldn't alter the dress (I needed to have the bra he approved of, it was "too soon", he couldn't alter anything until the straps were done first, etc.). Now come a week and a half before my wedding. I'm panicked because he hasn't made any alterations. I go see him and he tells me he will now start with the straps. When I asked about hemming and a bustle since time was short he recommended cutting the ENTIRE train off of my wedding dress otherwise "it would cost a lot of money" and not look good bustled. When I came out of the "dressing room" I felt uncomfortable because I just didn't trust his judgement but knew I was limited on time since he drug this out. When I came out he had a paper filled out for the total. $350 JUST FOR THE TWO INCHES NEEDED OFF OF THE STRAPS!!! I was shocked. He said he would need two more appts one for the train/hem and another if I wanted to go with a bustle. So I would be charged two more utiles for things that I knew would cost a lot more than straps. I left his garage and when I got in the car I knew he was ripping me off. I decided to call around and everyone I talked to told me I was being scammed. When I finally got ahold of The Formal Spot she offered for me to send pictures of the straps to rush order (for free) my dress. I decided to have my sister pick my dress up since we was near his home and when she went he wouldn't answer the door. He turned off the porch light and left her knocking for 20 minutes. I kept calling and when I finally reached him he agreed to give her the dress. The Formal Spot bustled my dress AND did a beautiful job on the straps for a little over $200!!! The dress looks gorgeous now and didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Sean is a nice person but I don't trust that he's a genuine person. I almost didn't have an altered dress for my wedding due to his postponing and outrageous pricing!! I definitely do not recommend! read more

Did a good job on the alterations I needed but when I said I needed the built in bra tighter he tried to tell me to just tighten the bow and that's not the style of the dress. I wish he had just done what I wanted in the first place instead of tell me I was wrong about getting the dress altered.
