On arrival at Schloss Johannisberg, I was first struck by the beauty of the buildings and grounds…read moreand never expected this gem. There appeared to be two food options, an outdoor picnic table and snack bar style snack bar and this restaurant.
On entry, it is beautifully appointed with a bright wall of windows overlooking the grounds and surrounding rolling hills. I asked for a table next to a window but was told they were all taken or reserved. Ok, we still had a great view.
This is a winery so house wine was the obvious choice. Unfortunately, we are red wine drinkers and this winery is known for whites. No worries.
The menu had so many exciting options and after a brief discussion, I decided on the salad with chicken. It was excellent! The other dishes on the table also looked great and appeared to be delicious as all of the food disappeared quickly.
This experience was so good, it called for dessert. Lucky for us, the next table has ordered sundaes so we knew what to expect and ordered 2.
This was one of our outstanding meals on our tour of Austria and Germany.
