Perfect for antsy kids. (When looking indoor, the decor was very typical for Ethiopian restaurants- dark, cozy, and family-oriented.) I tried my favorite dish (other than the split yellow pea stew): the spicy red lentils. The injera was soft and delicious, the lentils were nearly perfectly spiced, and it came with some other veggies that made everything come together. Our server spoke English and German, which made things so easy for our group of Germans and Americans. Although a little pricy, it was worth it, and EVERYONE polished off their plate. I couldn't read the German Menu but the platter had the basic staples I remember from Ethiopia and Ethiopian Restaurants in San Francisco. Shiro Yellow Lentils, Doro Wat Chicken, Doro Tibs (lamb), Spinach, Hard Boiled Eggs, plus some salad and potato salad. The dishes were low on spice to appeal to what seems to be the local German preference but I would have preferred to really feel more spicy heat from the Bereberi Spices. The restaurant has nice ambiance and the service was friendly if also a bit slow since it was a busy Saturday night. The restaurant had a nice ambience and had a consistent stream of clientele through the course of our dinner, even though it was on the quiet, mellow side. The owner -- I wish I had asked for his name -- was kind and took time to make suggestions. My friend and I had the sense that he was going to look after us quiet well. Based on his recommendation, we got the sample platter for two consisting of veggies and meat. I'm not exactly an expert of African cuisine but I believe I've had some great, authentic Ethiopian food due to the fact that there's a concentrated Ethiopian neighborhood in Los Angeles, where I'm from.
