Recently went back to these apartments that I lived for 10 years and they still have the same fake façade and rude employees. I live there from 2006 to 2012 while they were starting to remodeling.... I moved in 2006to a one bedroom year and a half later I moved into a two bedroom and was there for eight years nine years and the last six months I moved back to a one bedroom and was in the one bedroom maybe a month or the six months, I did attempt to speak to somebody about walking through in the carpet in all these other things and they said yeah don't worry about it don't worry about it we can remodel it we won't charge you Bubba blah well I end up getting a bill and I'm holding my 300 deposit because I said there was carpet replacement needs for the high traffic I lived by myself I spent more time most of the time at work on my girlfriends house that's why I had a six-month lease because The relationship started getting serious...Well nothings changed they still have the same people just because it's not carpet does it mean they won't find a way to charge you or not give your deposit back it's their job to keep the money just beware dot your eyes and cross T's...video and pics help read more

Stayed in a bottom floor apartment for 8 months...was one of the worst experiences we have had. Not only is there minimal insulation between floors and walls, the floors are loose. We could hear every word, step, toilet flush, etc. from the upstairs tenants, we could hear their bed squeaking whenever they turned over. We asked them to please stop their children from bouncing balls, jumping off of the furniture and dragging the kitchen chairs across the floors... they told us tough luck. That's pretty much the same response we got from management when we asked them to intervene. The cabinet under the kitchen sink developed black mold. We stayed in a hotel for 20 days, at Altamont's expense, while they tried to figure out what was wrong and fix the problem. Not only were they unable to determine where the moisture that caused the mold was coming from, they put the cabinet back in that had the mold in the first place. When mold started returning, they came back in and painted the cabinet to seal it. Oops, still didn't work. The complete lack of adequate parking was just the icing on the cake. The one bright spot was a gentleman on the maintenance staff, he did everything he could to help us, especially with the mold problem. read more

Okay I'm honestly so upset right now that my stars might be a little skewed but I am FED UP with the parking situation here. I've been dealing with it for over two years and seen a little bit of progress but giving us 10 spots over the past two years doesn't really help me out too much. The parking is SO HORRIBLE that last night I got home from work a little before 10 pm and there were 0 spots. People have to make up spots that don't even exist and put themselves at risk of getting towed EVERY SINGLE NIGHT to even find a spot and all of those were even gone. So what do they suggest for you to do when there's no where to put your car? Oh, just park it in the neighborhood/park above their complex that involves you walking up/down a hill at least 1/4 of a mile. That's their best solution, and they'll always tell you they're "developing more spots" but that doesn't really help you out right now does it? I don't see how plans for this apartment were ever approved when they grossly under developed parking spaces SO DRASTICALLY. For a luxury apartment complex you would never expect to have to park your car in a park because they can't accommodate their own residents. Absolutely furious. Oh! I've also been on a waiting list for a reserved parking spot for two years and only received one offer that wasn't even close to my building and declined it (foolish move on my part because then I would at least have had somewhere to put my car) so don't hold your breath there! read more

I've already left you messages. At this point however I would rather communicate by email, as I find having a paper trail is more useful than trying to rely on anything anyone says over the phone. Additionally you and i both know there's actually nothing you can personally due to fix any of altamont's problems other than uprooting all the buildings and moving them somewhere safer. Or, maybe compensating all of the people who had to put up with parking issues at the peak of the problem last summer. Sequoia built this property with 0 consideration given to parking. Everyone in the office agrees with this, yet, no one seems willing to actually take responsibility for how ridiculous things got. - there were literally no spots in the parking lot- people were circling around and around and around. Altamont readily admitted the parking situation was unacceptable and made an effort to bring in more spaces and implement permits. Yet? They don't really care about any of the people stuck with parking tickets and towing bills as a result of their initial poor planning. These are the people you're dealing with when you rent here. I wanted to also add that the wifi here is intermittent. It seems to go out nearly every other night. Potential renters should be aware this is a community-wide issue, it isn't isolated to my building. Potential renters should also be aware of the fact that by moving here, they will be paying for every single utility. Nothing is included. Additionally they have to buy renters insurance. Their car insurance cost will also go up due to the car break ins/theft that occurs here. We added everything up that we spend to live here, and realize now that we could be renting an entire house for the same cost in a safer neighborhood, easily. The buildings are so poorly constructed that shingles/gutters fly everywhere when it's windy outside. We had a gutter banging against our wall for several weeks last winter before anyone fixed it. Water also poured into our laundry room due to a leak in the roof. Anyway these are just a few more perks you can expect when renting here. Wanted everyone to be aware that the prior manager attempted to not allow me to renew my lease here, it was an entirely personal move on her part and I suspect it had something to do with my leaving a negative Yelp review. It demonstrates the lengths of pettiness she would commonly sink to to lord over residents here. Sequoia wised up and brought in new management, I'll credit them for that. The new management is fantastic! They did recognize how petty prior manager had acted and allowed my lease to continue. Too bad other folks were not so lucky. Nice to see some reasonable people in office now. It seems like Prior manager (who responded to this post) was the source of the cancerous culture present at this complex, she shrouded many things in a professional veneer but the obvious fact was she spent most her days looking for ways to cite residents and make people's lives difficult. Things are looking up. I'll be adding more stars if this positive trend continues. read more

So when I first moved in the place staff was very welcoming and the only downside was parking. They just had a change in management and the place has gone down hill. I believe they kept only one person Mackenzie, she's amazing so if you do check out the place, ask for her. Aside from her theres no one special. The reason for my post is the other day I found out about some changes coming soon. First off as I mentioned earlier, there's never parking, we have to park across the street from the complex and walk to our place. Now they are starting to tow people. So the only option is to park at the bottom of the hill and walk up. Not to mention in the next month or so they will be forcing people to give up there garage parking if they don't use it daily. These apartments are in a great location and well kept...on the outside. The management is a complete joke, and they do not care about their tennants at all. Any time there is an issue with the apartment the maintenance and management always find a way to take the easy and cheapest way to fix things. There is no organziation within the staff, and it is obvious they don't care to make things better. I have witnessed people getting in trouble for things against apartment policy, while others get away with it. The parking is absolutely ridiculous, and it is very frustrating if you ever wants guests to come over. They either have to park half a mile away, or risk getting towed for parking in terribly marked parking spots in which you can't see the lettering. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone I cared about. read more

Do Not live here!!! Not only was parking horrible. The front office is worse!!! I needed maintenance to come out and they scheduled me a date and time so I took the day off and waiting and when I called they said they forgot to schedule and they had to do it another day. No biggie it happens, but they did it again!!! They also nickle and dimed me for everything when I moved out and to top it off I forgot to return my garage door opener and they didnt take it back, 75 buck for a stupid garage door opener that I am going to just throw in the trash. If you want to pay a large amount with little parking for guests, this is the place. Once you renew lease with a 10% increase to the already exorbitant amount, the management is less attentive to the needs you may have for your unit...I have had FOUR refrigerators in a year and a half! Why? Because they replaced with OLDER units...not clean either. I'm pretty sure with a NEW resident wouldn't be given older,dirty appliances. All the apartments are very nice and cozy, I love that this place updates whenever someone moves out. I just have to say, the experience of signing a lease here at Altamont is top notch. Under new management, this place rocks. Leasing agent Leena is very personable and will be completely honest in your best interest. 10/10 would recommend to family and friends. I've moved 3 times all around Portland and surrounding areas in the past 3 years and coming to Altamont has been my best decision yet. So make sure you ask for Leena when checking this place out- and if she's not there, the manager Kriste is also tremendously helpful and kind. read more

I love coming home! The staff are so great, especially Jessica. I have had several packages, questions, faxes that I needed to send, and other requests lately and she is always so friendly and responsive to whatever I am asking. I love being greeted with a smile any time I come into the office, and she treats my dog like he is family ( which is huge for this dog mama). I am so thankful that I found this place to live, and that I have such a sweet team in the office. It is nice to not just feel like a rent check, but to be known. Yelp is a great tool because the comments can't be deleted... you get true, honest feedback from real people. With that being said... I'd like to say that my experience at Altamont Summit Apartments hasn't been bad. The grounds are beautifully kept, the updated apartments look very nice and the maintenance men are attentive and helpful. It's an apartment complex, so obvious things come along with it...We all share a space and hear each other time to time blah blah blah. That will not go away. One negative I do have is what the staff want the public to know. Recently on Altamont's app, Active Building, they posted saying "The first 4 people to leave a POSITIVE (they made sure positive was capitalized) Facebook review will receive a 25 dollar gift card". I commented on the post saying how reviews should be honest and not provoked by personal gain. All comments are 'reviewed' and oddly enough my NOT so positive comment was 'unapproved'. Weird, right!? Not so much...Instead I received a personal e-mail pretty much trying to sweep things under the rug. So, here I am... All I'm trying to get across is- don't just trust everything you read on social media about this place, because they literally pay people to make it sound great. This place isn't bad... it can stand on its own two feet... and we shouldn't be paid off to lie to people who then lock themselves into what can be a pretty expensive lease. It's sad and I felt the need to speak up for some reason. We have a 750 square foot, 1 bed, 1 bath & 2 cats for 1,400 a month. Friendly neighbours and well kept premises! I was selective on a newer built apartment because of my allergies and health issues. But damn, I have never seen dust build up as actively as in this apartment (must be the kind of schrubs/plants by the trail). There were a couple of things I got told were happening with the complex that didn't happen. But overall good amenities. Anyways, you can hear when you neighbours flush their toilet, it's disturbing. Also, when their A.C. is on, it is actually a huge issue when I try and sleep considering my bedroom window is right about the unit the air flows threw & it's loud! Another Con is the hill in the weather conditions. I had to park on the street one night because there were no spaces.. it had snowed and a car coming down the un-maintenanced hill had slid into my car. As for crime, there are way less break-ins on this premises than most all others! Anybody who had a break in must have left something of value in vehicle. I have left my car unlocked just to find out. -What I love the most, is how cute the staff is with the pets. They did just get wifi in the gym which is a game changer. Currently received our renewal letter and we wouldn't have moved in if we knew it was going to go up that much each renewal. read more

From the first contact to moving in day, everything was streamlined and professional. They made the process stress free and were always available for any questions that arised. Jessica and Courtney are a big part of why we chose Altamont as our home. They are warm, kind and always greet you with a smile : ) Jessica guided us through the application process, utilities, insurance and available services. There is a calmness in this neighborhood. The neighbors have greeted us with a warm welcome. Plenty of walking paths and beautiful nature. The property is always maintained well, lovely landscape. The one time we needed help with the heating system, was taken care of immediately. John was at our door within 5 minutes and had everything up and going. Even took the time to explain what happened and answered our questions. The apartments are cozy, bright and loads of storage space. We love the kitchen and it inspires us to cook and bake, especially in 2020 where we are inside more. There is loads of natural lighting and having a balcony is a major plus. They are beyond pet friendly and your four legged friends have a park. Last, but not least, location, location, location. We are mere minutes away from the stores. Love it here. read more

We have been living here for a month and have had an exceptional experience so far. The area is peaceful, beautiful, and kept clean. We love the amenities, especially with a 2 year old. We get to enjoy breath-taking views every time we take her to one of the two playgrounds available. Maintenance is swift and professional, as well as the office staff. We worked with several of the people there and they have been nothing short of courteous and professional. As with all things, nothing can be perfect. Parking can be a bit of an issue, but we feel that the management is being proactive and taking every measure to correct this. I find it odd that someone would complain about them painstakingly leaving notes with reminders by the door and on cars without permits the last week before parking policy changes were instated and then complain that their car got towed; that's what all of those "annoying" reminders were for! Although it does impose on our plans occasionally, we appreciate that it has been far easier to find a parking spot closer to our home especially when toting groceries and a toddler in tow after a long work day. It's only fair that residents get priority over guests. At the end of the day (as far as we are concerned), nothing beats calling Altamont Summit our home. read more

Before you consider renting here please read at least this review... Keep in mind I have never written a review for anything no matter the circumstance but this dignified a response. I rented a single bedroom for a year then proceeded month to month because I was moving into my GFs condo. Everything was fine up until the move out process started, I had never had a problem with them until my last month there. (October 2015) I called them at the beginning of the month to let them know I'd be moving out and to ask for the next step in the process, the lady I talked with was very nice and assured me everything was recorded and my keys had to be turned in by the end of the month. I travel a lot for work so by the time it came to my move out date I had already planned a trip for Saturday morning. I dropped my keys off that Friday night and made sure to call the next day to make sure they got them, according to the lady I spoke with, they did. The couple days pass and I want to be sure I do not owe anything, so I check the their website and there is a charge for rent and utilities? I call back the next day and talk with the same person and she assures me the website will show this but I do not owe anything. Excellent right? Wrong, 3 months go by and the people I used to live with notify me saying I have a collections notice for unpaid dues from Altamont Summit. I thought this was strange considering I always pay my rent on time. I call and the accountant tells me I left without notice saying I hadn't filed the any paperwork. Had I not been told I was okay I would have taken care of all of it before hand but to receive a notice about collections without proper warning is poor communication. She went on to tell me that she had sent me an email and sent a letter to my forwarding address stating what I owed. The only bill I ever got from them was a letter about the cost to clean the apartment. $110 for cleaning the apartment and $130 for shampooing and cleaning the carpet? That is outrages, especially since I hired a personal cleaner (Which I do for every apartment I've stayed at and always got my full deposit back) and the carpet was shampooed as well (Another thing I paid for). I received pictures of the supposed damage and cleaning that they needed done and laughed at what they justified damages. The lease states "Subject to common wear and tear" there was some spots, that I have no idea how they got there and some dusty window sills and the fireplace was dirty in between the tiles, SERIOUSLY, I am not over exaggerating and that's what they justify as damage I guess. Next on the list is the utilities charges, which you pay water/sewer and garbage. Most places will charge you a month of use prior so that when you move out you are all caught up when you decide to move out, BUT NOT ALTAMONT, so when you move out the bill is 2x 3x what you normally pay in a month. TERRIBLE PARKING, good luck having people over. Maintenance is acceptable. Website is nice, makes for easy payments. Staff, they are all very nice ladies but I just had a hell of a time moving out because of the communication. After all this, I was left paying a 1400+ bill that should never have gone to collections, I was never notified of the bill, outrages cleaning bills, and communication was so poor that, again, I was left paying a $1400 bill. I highly recommend you look at other places because for what I was paying here you could get yourself a small house.... The 3 star rating doesn't lie so please help yourself and look somewhere else. Sequoia has ruined the property and it's very appropriate their company is named after a large tree cuz they're shady as you can get. Their ads outright lie about apartment features like granite counters and stainless appliances. The construction isn't their fault but is still so poor you can hear your neighbors every trip to the bathroom. The parking always sucks after 4pm, with very selective towing enforcement. There's nothing special about the inside of the units, they look just like any other apartment yet cost about $250/mo more, yet less than half the apartments have the view they love to brag about. The management is the worst part by far, they charged me over $600 over my deposit when I moved out and both the manager Bridgett and regional manager Kristen have actively refused to provide picture evidence of alleged damage, or validate what work went into repairing my old unit, then sent me to collections without disclosing the account is being contested. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER RENTING HERE. read more

I've lived in apartments and condos my whole adult life and I think it comes down to what you prefer. For me, hearing basically everything my neighbors do is a major turn off. You literally can hear them simply talking as the walls are super thin. The place itself is nice however and that's what initially drew me to staying there. I hadn't been there all that long before I noticed people use the complex as a temporary place; lots of moving in and out. I found the staff to be very cordial and helpful prior and upon move-in. I also had a garage and never found parking too much of an issue. The views can be really beautiful depending upon the location of your apt. The place itself is also very spacious and decently maintained. Again, it comes down to what's most important to you and to me some peace and quiet is required. read more

This apartments are very nice how ever the parking situation is beyond a disaster. We have lived at the summit for 2 years and been towed 2 times even though we have passes in our vehicles. When we went to pick up our vehicle, car was unlocked! How is that possible any ideas lol tow company braking in pass on the floor was the reason for tow!!! Second time our parking pass gone completely the outline of the pass still on the window car was parked in same spot for 2 night night they towed it after most likely they removed the sicker older truck easy to break into. The tow company claimed the truck driver worked for them for 2 weeks and they stand behind trusting him. Atlamont has a terrorizing tow company's checking the parking every night and they will tow u for what ever reason or make there own. There is minimum of $200+ charge whether the car has been towed for and hour or all day!!!. The office staff could care less about customer service since the change of ownership within the past year also. Our bikes have been stolen from the designated area as well!! I am looking into attorneys to pursue a class law suit at this point against Atlamont summit there is countless residents with similar problem and front office staff just answers " we didn't tow u it was the tow company" or sorry we can't do anything for u with a smug attitude. Nothing is ever a problem with the office staff they lie to all be residence about how there is plenty of parking and no problems. I hope future residents see this and think twice prior to moving into these apartments. read more

The property is well maintained. There are too many cars for the amount of parking spaces so all the guest spots are always full and people are having to park in the neighborhood across the street. There are so many dogs living here also that barking is an issue, especially if you like to sleep in on the weekend. On my last day, I checked for any utilities I owed and paid them off. Later, they came back and said I owed more because somehow they come due months after the usage. They must use different utilities than the rest of Portland. read more

I have lived in the apartments for almost 5 years. Overall the experience has been pretty good. The biggest downside is experiencing a rather large increase in my new lease options. I understand the complex is making improvements, however, my apartment will not be touched interior or exterior and still experiencing a more than 20% increase in my month over month rent (unfortunate downside of being owned by a Private Equity company out of Cali). No complaints on the staff, things do get taken care of promptly and they are willing to help were necessary. The cost would make more sense if I took full advantage of all the amenities (pool, dog park, clubhouse, etc). Remodeled units are nice, but come with a significant cost. If it makes financial sense, good choice for the location. read more

This place has 3 stars overall and from me a 1 star rating. The management company as well as the property managers have no clue what they are doing and made so many mistakes from the moment I applied to live here a few years ago before I knew how awful it really was. First they gave the apartment I had applied for to someone else without any reason! Then after I had to negotiate a different rate based on that screw up the renewal went even worse that they didn't even give us notice or paperwork! Then when I had enough and was able to move they destroyed the unit right before a scheduled walk thru, stole/threw away my belongings and then tried to come up with every excuse how it wasn't a big deal! They have no idea how to run a successful property and I would highly suggest if you think you wanna live here here are so many better places that won't screw you over. This was by far my worst living situation and I haven't even mentioned the parking which is non existent and had to have cars towed out of my spot. read more

The staff at Altamont take their time to get to know residents and they also provide small things which make me very happy with my living experience here... They have provided "Breakfast on the Go" brown bag breakfast for us who work early, and most recently I mentioned my recent engagement and I can home to a congratulatory note signed by the same and a gift card. I've lived in one previous not so great apartment complex before and I think this place is by far the worst. The staff is ridiculously snobby and to be honest, complete air heads. They have no solutions for any issues regarding parking, issues with neighbors, dogs barking at all hours of the night, nothing. The day we got our keys and had already paid our rent, a member of the office team came in to our brand new home and did the quickest most half-ass inspection I've ever seen. Never thought I'd rate an apartment at 5 stars but they were great! Needed short term housing and they were one of the few that could offer this program. They were very helpful when we needed more time, even though we had given notice. Their complex is so well maintained and quiet. Parking is a challenge, but you learn how to find spots, The pool was beautiful and it is kept up like a 5 star hotel. Highly recommend Altamont Summit to anyone. Best views of the city! read more

The amenities are nice--pool, work-out room. The buildings are well-maintained. Maintenance is very quick to respond to requests--so far they have responded to request within just a few hours! Great views. Walls are a bit thin so you hear your neighbors at times. Parking is limited, which makes it awkward when having guests over. read more

DO A WALK THROUGH UPON VACATING. My boyfriend and I rented an apartment here from 3/2011 to 8/2012. We vacated upon purchasing a home, and were very pressed for time due to everything that goes into buying a house. We did not do a walk through with Altamont Summit Apartments upon vacating, which was a terrible decision. They then fabricated charges, and sent us a bill for $1,142.73 These charges were in addition to the $750 in deposits we had already paid to them. These charges included replacing both bathroom sinks, $880 in kitchen countertop replacements, and $741.07 in carpet replacement. The note on the carpet replacement read "This carpet needs replaced due to pet urine damage on the whole carpet also has many permanent stains and many burn cig and lots worn traffic areas" We never had one pet urinate on the carpet, nor did we smoke one cigarette in the apartment. There was nothing noted about the counters and sinks. After a trip to Altamont Summit to speak to the manager and the accounting manager, I explained there was no proof of these things and they were false. They came back to me with a new bill with the charges dropped to $429.75. They removed one sink charge, and dropped the countertop charge to $227.02. Suddenly they decided that we were only responsible for those portions. I went back to speak to them again, and she didn't really have an explanation for this, just that that's what we now owed. While I'm glad the charges were lowered, that only further shows that the charges are false. If we had done such damage to the apartment that originally was $1,142.73, why on earth would they drop it to $429.75 unless it was fabricated in the first place? I told them I don't agree with the charges again, and they sent me to collections. I have perfect credit aside from this mess, am a responsible homeowner and now I have rude collections representatives calling me at all hours yelling at me to pay like I'm some sort of miscreant, who refuse to listen to my side of the story. This is an outrage, and is now affecting my life and credit. read more

There are positives about the complex such as the workout facility and the pool and hot tub area. The maintenance is great. Whenever you need something fixed, they're pretty good about it. We did have a problem with spiders in our apartment and it took three calls and 2 1/2 weeks for them to finally get an exterminator out to help us. The parking situation is a nightmare. We own two vehicles and only have one garage space, which means we have to park our other vehicle in a guest space. If we get home after 8:00 pm on week days there's no guest parking available. Saturday and Sunday it's almost impossible to find a guest parking space. We asked management if we could pay an additional fee for an assigned space and they said they don't have extra spaces available. When there is no guest parking, we have been forced to park across the street from the complex. Management just notified us that they're now going to be towing if we park there. That only leaves us with the option of parking at the bottom of the hill near 92nd and hiking up. Not so ideal when you have a small baby. The walls are also very thin and you can hear everything. We can hear our neighbors tv and music everyday as well as conversations they're having. If you only have one vehicle and don't mind the noise from neighbors, this would be a great place to live. read more

I live at altamont summit for 7 years now. There's a good reason that these apartments don't have good reviews. They don't care about their occupants. We own one car, and it broke down so we borrowed our friends truck. Last night my husband parked at a guest parking space and when he was going to work in the morning it was gone. He came to the office and they said it was towed because he didn't have a guest pass. He asked kirste (manager) how he was supposed to get a pass at 10pm, and she said that he should have planned ahead, and now we have to pay $340 to the towing company. I came in myself to talk to Kriste and she clearly didn't care. So I guess now if I want to have friends over I need to plan ahead and get guest passes for them otherwise their cars will get towed. There is a towing truck that drives around from 7pm to 7am and tows cars that don't have passes. This is ridiculous and I don't recommend these apartments to anyone. Thanks for reading. read more
