Just got a new HVAC with Alta Air. Entire process went smoothly and efficiently. They were very professional. highly recommend!

I needed my furnace repaired in January, and did outreach through Yelp to several companies one night after work. Alta Air was the most responsive that evening, their tech (his name was Austin) showed up at 7 am the next morning, and the problem was fixed within an hour. I'ma single female homeowner and have had many other companies try to take advantage of that fact to upsell me on everything, thinking I don't know what I'm doing. Alta Air was respectful, didn't try to sell me a whole new furnace (as others have), and my bill was less than $300. Their tech identified a few watch points for me as future repairs but wasn't pushy about it. I'm actually signing up for their maintenance plan (which I never do!) because they're trustworthy operators, and folks like this are hard to find. Sounds like they had a name change and are just getting back into the Yelp game after the transition, as well as just dipping their toes in the water on residential service (primarily focused on commercial). So don't be swayed by the 1-star reviews from past years - Alta Air is great! read more

I made an appointment for Alta Air to look at my non-functioning air conditioner for 2:30 yesterday. I left work early and waited for a repair person who never showed up. I called and was only able to leave a message. I received a call this morning that they were sorry, but they'd had some kind of scheduling system error. They wanted me to leave work, again, in the middle of the day for another appointment for which someone may or may not show up. No thanks. read more

In 2009 we had some green energy savings contractors come door to door in our neighborhood offering to do insulation work for the same amount as the energy savings rebates available from Questar and Rocky Mountain Power. We agreed and had our attic and sub-floor insulated for this agreed upon price. They filled out all the rebate forms for us and the rebates came in the mail and then we paid the contractors and everything worked out great. We got new insulation and a more energy efficient home and the contractor got the job done. Because that was such a positive experience a few months later I looked up contractors to do duct insulation work for the same price as the rebates offered and the first contractor I contacted was Alta Air. They agreed to do the duct insulation and sealing for the same price as the rebates offered ($700) and sent a contractor out on the specified date. The contractor (Andi Rodriguez) put "due upon receipt of rebate" on the original invoice that she left with me that day. However, after several months the rebates still didn't come. I spent hours on the phone following up with Rocky Mountain Power and Quester and going back and forth with Alta Air. The short of it was that the rebate forms weren't filled out correctly. There was some technical information missing that they needed to process the rebates. The contractor needed to measure the airflow in the ducts and that was missing and there was no way I could provide that information. There was nothing I could do. I contacted Alta Air several times but nothing happened. After a year had passed I gave up. I continued to receive invoices from Alta Air and occasionally sent them a copy of my original invoice back stating "due upon receipt of rebate." They never contacted me about correcting the rebate forms even though I repeatedly contacted them. In 2011 I started getting calls from collection agencies about this account. I immediately called Alta Air and said "please fill out the rebate form again so you can get paid. This account shouldn't be at a collection agency since it's not my fault you haven't been paid." I called Rocky Mtn and Questar back to see if after so many years the rebates were still available. They said they were if the contractor finally agreed to fill out the airflow information on the duct work. So at some point in 2011 someone from Alta Air came back to my house and filled out rebate forms again with the technical information and submitted them all again. Unfortunately, the work that was done didn't meet the minimum standard of energy saving for either Rocky Mountain or Questar so the rebates were denied. I contacted Alta Air again and another contractor (at least I think it was another contractor because it was someone who wasn't driving an Alta Air van) came back to the house and re-did the work and re-submitted the rebate forms and this time they passed the standard and the rebates were processed. Again this was sometime in 2011 and I was still getting calls from the collection agency. I wrote 3 separate checks (as rebates came) to Alta Air for a total of $700, the original contracted amount. The account was paid in full in 2011 after the work had been completed for a second time. However, they refused to write a letter clearing the account on my credit. I've had a major derogatory on my credit since 2011 because of this and have been denied a home loan from Bank of America because of this issue. In February, 2014, my husband called and spoke with the owner, Rick, about this issue trying to clear my credit and Rick stated "The balance is still due. You still owe $700. You should take care of that." In March of this year, my husband and I both spent countless hours of our time trying to go through old bank records and prove payment was sent. After paying $250 for years of old bank statements we have the proof that shows it was paid but Alta Air refuses to call either one of us. In order to avoid a law suit, Alta Air needs to write a letter clearing my credit and refund the $250 we spent on bank records in order to prove something they should have known by doing their own accounting. read more
