I went to Al's vacuum for the first time this week and they will now be where I will go for vacuum cleaner needs. The company that I bought my vacuum cleaner from has gone out of business. My vacuum was making a very loud noise. They said it was most likely a broken fan and could take a week to fix and would cost around 75.00. I left the vacuum. The next day they called and said the fan was broken and also the motor needed replacement and that there would be no charge because the vacuum was still under warranty. They had it ready for me to pick up the very next day. I was very happy with their service. That's not something you can say lately about customer service. read more

DO NOT BRING OLD VACUUM TO BE REPAIRED AT AL'S VACUUM! I would have been happy to spend $$$ to have an old vacuum repaired as I did not have time to fix it. Problem was self-evident--no diagnostics necessary. I called Al's Vacuum. They told me it was not worth it to fix, they can't get parts, other things break when you take them apart, and it would cost me $100 for them to look at it. I easily found a new replacement part elsewhere online for $89.10, ordered it, and spent an hour replacing the part. $89 + one hour, work done by a novice (me). They could have had the business, a happy customer, and a good referral. BUT NO. THANKS FOR NOTHING from the "vacuum experts." Their web site* says "The company's mission of "doing whatever it takes to best serve the customer" isn't just a philosophy--it's reality!" W-R-O-N-G!!! Pretty helpful vacuum shop. Came in for some replacement parts, some they had in stock and other they tried to order but were not able for my particular brand, but they still tried. They have a ton of different types of vacuums for sale as well as carpet cleaning products. Al's also does vacuum repairs. read more

Shari S was lovely to work with and helped me understand the pros and cons of different kinds of vacuums as a first-time serious buyer. She never pressured me to buy, and after hearing what I liked about different options and what kind of messes I was looking to clean up, recommended that I actually would be better off looking for a shop vac until the construction in my house was finished, and for jobs like sucking up dirt and cat litter. I always respect when a sales person recommends what they think would work best for me even when it isn't the thing that gets them a sale. I recently took my 11 year old Riccar vacuum in for servicing. Upon speaking with an associate it was determined I could possibly get more for my money by applying that service fee to a new vacuum as mine was near the end of his life. I purchased a Riccar anniversary special vacuum with super-duper power and all types of great features. I took it home and discovered after a partial cleaning of my house that it wasn't the one for me. My house is mostly hardwood floors and the initial purchase was, I thought, much more suited for lots of carpet and didn't have the lighted feature I so loved about my old machine which allowed me to see under furniture when I used the hose and hardwood brush functions. I returned the vacuum and found another that fits perfectly into my home. The Riccar 25 cleans like a dream and has such flexibility to get under the edges of my furniture and a bright light that allows me to discover all the dusty bunnies that like to live underneath. The wide attachment for hardwood floors I purchased makes those bunnies go away quickly, efficiently and leaves a dust free floor underneath the furniture. If a vacuum could make me love housework, this is truly the machine. Kudos to all the folks at Al's Vacuum for helping me in my journey to discover the Riccar that fits my needs. I dig this shop. This is a locally owned chain with great customer service. The staff are very knowledgable of their products and helpful. My family has been going here for years. They sell all the parts you might need for your vacuum (bags, belts, etc), a wide array of products, demonstrations to trial the vacuums before you buy, refurbished products, and good deals. I recently purchased a refurbished vacuum and I LOVE it! In fact, I actually enjoy cleaning now. Other than some scratches on the outside, it was in like-new condition. They did a great job cleaning and deodorizing it before selling it to me. I wouldn't buy a vacuum or supplies anywhere else. read more

Bad experience here, this seemed to be a mom and pop operation, if mom and pop are Frank and Estelle Costanza - they bitched at each other and quite rudely at me more than once just for nicely asking about repairing my vacuum. Very large store and selection but high prices and unfriendly service. Maybe they treat you better if you have a fancy euro vacuum or their house brand, they just didn't like me coming in with an old Carpet Pro. I highly recommend you go to nearby A-1 Vacuum Solutions instead. read more

I was so sick of buying vacuums from department stores only to have them stop working after a brief period of time. Scott W. at Al's took time to answer all my questions, even what he thought were potential repair problems. No pressure, just infotmation comparing macines. They carry only a few, higher quality brands that do not advertise nor sell on line. Money saved on advertising built a better machine. I know if and when my machine needs servicing, it will be taken care of.. investment in a better product shall save money in the long term. read more

My husband and I have been going to Al's Vacuum for years, so when I needed a new vacuum there was no hesitation to go right back to Al's. Scott helped me find the right vacuum. Scott's been at Al's for at least as long as I've been going there and he knows vacuums inside and out. Once I explained what I needed he easily narrowed down my selections, very clearly explained everything to me about the different options and couldn't have been more helpful. Scott is not pushy or abrasive so you feel comfortable getting the info and asking questions. I decided to leave and read up a little more on the vacuums he presented me and I learned nothing more because Scott had already informed me! I ended up buying my vacuum from Scott and I'm thrilled with it. I didn't want to just buy a machine and start using it, I wanted to understand why it was a good machine and how it compared to others. If you go to Al's you will get great service and a fair price. Furthermore, they have a terrific service department if your vacuum needs tune ups or repairs. After all these years of being in the community they're not going anywhere so why would you? read more

I called here tonight after of recommendation from a family member who had a good experience with their service. My husband and I just moved into a new home, and it's time to upgrade our vacuum from our barely functional college relics. Sherry was incredible! She spent over 20 minutes with me on the phone getting to know what I would need to use the vacuum for, any pets, allergies, other things that I needed to consider that I'd never even thought about. I love a lady who knows her stuff, and Sherry definitely fits that description! She steered me towards a couple of different options, and because I don't live in the area and won't be able to make it into the store, I plan on calling her tomorrow once I've made my final decision and she's going to ship my choice out to me free of charge! It's so nice in this world of phone trees, knock offs, and Bad customer service to actually speak to a human who knows what they're talking about and really cares about the product that they are representing. I'm so happy to support a local business that hires somebody like Sherry - I could easily buy the vacuum on Amazon, but it makes me so happy to support Al's with my purchase and know that if I ever have any trouble in the future I can call sherry up and she'll make sure I'm taken care of! read more

I didn't have a vacuum when I first moved into the neighborhood near Al's. I had never been in a vacuum shop before, nor had I any idea there was such a huge difference between a quality vacuum and a big box store cheapo. Thanks to Shari and Scott for giving me a full run down and educating me on the different models and outfitting me with one that fit all my needs at a good price!
