I asked if he'd replace it, if I bought the OEM parts myself and was still told they won't touch it, because it's a Nissan. I'm very disappointed, because I've heard such great reviews about this business. I really wish they could work with me, but their unwillingness to forces my hand to leave but 1 star.

I found Crosnos Transmission on yelp and they had good reviews. When I called they were upfront that it would take two weeks to even get started on it because of their current work load. After I told them what was happening with it, they quoted me a ballpark price that was about $1600 less than my other quotes and was exactly what they ended up charging me after I took it to them. They had my Suburban for about 3 weeks. They warranty their rebuilds which is nice so as long as you live within or breakdown within driving distance. However, if it goes down while on a road trip you are going to have to ship it back before they can fix it. I only made it four stars based on two things. The man who runs the shop is grumpy, and 3 weeks is a long time to go without a car. I have had my vehicle back for over a month and am about to take a trip in it, so I will update the review if anything happens significantly during the trip.

Oh my goodness, my son and his girlfriend had the SAME scenario as Russell G. moving across country…read morefrom Idaho to Virginia. I was hesitant to give the details of same day service in an emergency but it happened again! UNHEARD OF to have it fixed in one day! I believe my son said the woman's name was Leanne that fought with the warranty company for them and GOT IT! I thought that we had hospitality here in the south but MOUNT VERNON, ILLINOIS has a GEM!!!! If I could give this company TEN stars I would do it. As a Mom, I was actually crying because I am so grateful to this company of hard working employees which is so rare to find. They would have had to either leave the truck & trailer to come home for work in her car, stay in a hotel or we would have had to drive him back to Illinois then come back again to Virginia. M&M Transmission...you are the best!!

Our 2001 Buick LeSabre with 175,XXX miles began shifting a little hard going from 1st to 2nd and…read more3rd. It then changed from that issue to being less smooth in the higher gears. A mechanic, whose services I use, said a code indicated that the solenoids were likely to be the problem and "reset" the transmission. He said that the reset may work or the problem could reoccur. The condition returned in a few days. When I described the problem to Mike (M & M transmission), he recognized the code and told me that it would cost $550 to change the solenoids. I made the appointment for Tuesday, May 21st. I arrived at 8:00 AM and Mike was not there. A mechanic employee said Mike would be there at 9:20. I told him that my wife and I would go to breakfast and be back at the appointed time. When I returned, Mike was not there but his wife, Melody, was. I told her that the car had been shifting as if nothing was wrong (in all gears) for the last few days and that I wanted Mike to drive it and call me before proceeding with any work. She agreed to do so. She called me at 3:03 to tell me that they had changed the two solenoids but there was another problem. They think the torque converter needed to be replaced. I told her that no one likes surprises unless it's a birthday party and what would that cost? She said that they did that work for $2600. I said that I wasn't going to do that. She said that she understood and would just charge for the work done. I went there to pick up the car and saw Mike. I asked him if he had driven the car (as I had requested) would he have known the additional problem? He said that his helper had driven it. I said $2600 additional fee was not practical for the older vehicle with high mileage. He said that he understood and I paid $575.43 ($400 was labor). I can't say anything negative about the work that was done but the car is now, again, not shifting into the higher gears smoothly ?? My disappointment is in the way business was conducted. Had I been called per our agreement, I might have chosen not to replace the solenoids. I was not given any options. Mike didn't drive the car and no one called before work was done (as Melody and I had agreed that morning). Without communication, understanding is impossible. Without understanding, conflict is probable (or missed opportunity).

A Rare Find on Route 66 -- Jack's 66 Service…read more While waiting for my oil change and tire rotation, I witnessed something I thought had gone extinct somewhere between rotary phones and $1 gas: genuine customer service. One customer brought in a part to be installed -- unfortunately, it was faulty. Instead of shrugging and charging for labor anyway (as many shops might), the team at Jack's 66 caught the problem before installation. Then, the owner himself picked up the phone and called the store where the part was purchased to help the customer get an exchange. Who does that anymore? Moments later, another customer came in with a service light for an air filter. Instead of booking an appointment and a bill, the owner grabbed his tools, walked out to the car, and checked it right there in the lot -- saving the customer both time and money. In a world where honesty in auto service feels like finding a four-leaf clover, Jack's 66 is an entire field of them. Fair, kind, and refreshingly human -- I'll definitely be back.

They knew exactly what my car needed when I called and told them what I had. They were just as reasonable, but with better customer service, the sum of the really quick places you drive-through.
