We hired Alpine gutters to install new fascia board and gutters on our 70's era BC Box-style house. Shortly after installation we experienced significant leakage in three of four corners as well as water weeping between the fascia board and the gutters in multiple areas. We emailed our concerns, were told someone would come and assess but they were extremely busy. After THREE MONTHS with no follow up we emailed again, and they finally sent a service tech to inspect. He caulked up the corners and determined that the water leaking between the gutters and the fascia was because the roof shingles don't extend far enough off the roof. That wasn't a problem before their install, and we determined the the fascia board they installed was a quarter of an inch thicker than what they'd replaced, pushing the gutters 1/4" away from the roof. The tech said he'd bring this information back to his boss and get back to us, which they did not. When we AGAIN wrote to ask what our status was they replied with an quote to install flashing under our shingles to extend the drip line back into the gutter. When we replied that we would pay for the the cost of materials but not labour for a mistake on their end, the owner of the company, Darren P., wrote to tell us that we don't have a gutter issue, we have a roofing issue" and that a quarter of an inch difference between the fascia is "negligible". Which is patently ridiculous as we didn't have the leakage issue until AFTER their installation. And if it truly was a roofing issue then why didn't they discover or discuss it with us when they did their initial inspection and quote? He accused us of being greedy and "entitled" homeowners but DID offer us a 20% discount for the flashing job to fix their mistake. We did NOT take them up on this as we no longer trusted the competence or integrity of the company. read more
