I checked reviews, as well as the prospective business's experience, complaints, photo gallery of past jobs, and ultimately I also shopped prices. From the very first conversation that I had with Omar, the owner, I got a really good feeling about possibly dealing with him.  He and KenRoy, who actually installed the fence, are warm, personable, authentic, and very professional people. You'll never feel patronized or talked down to.  You don't have to like the people you do business with, but it's nice when things work out that way. Their honesty, the easy, open conversations we shared with them, and their obvious expertise instilled in me the confidence I was hoping to find in them.  Although it may seem like good etiquette from a different era, these guys actually return calls, complete work on time, and aren't snarly people who hate their jobs. Omar graciously customized our order.  KenRoy was punctual and did a very professional and complete job.  Not only are these two men good at what they do, but they're also genuinely interested in ensuring that the customer is happy with the fence and installation. It's rare to find contractors who take pride in their work.  Unlike most Contractors, KenRoy was very open to our suggestions and tended to every detail. Ultimately, we got a really good-looking fence and gate for our front yard that was installed professionally, was completed on time, and at a better price than anyone else we called.  Omar was true to his word.  Apple Fence started, completed, and did a great job for the price he promised. Although our job was smaller than some of the larger jobs they do, we never felt we weren't treated as valued customers. We give Big Apple Fence 5 stars. Easily. This experience was what every homeowner hopes for: a seamless, stress-free experience.  Big Apple Fence:  Professional, quality work at a reasonable price. Although TLC wasn't the cheapest estimate, I decided to go with them anyway. It was stated in the contract that I would keep all the wood, and the crew would cut it into 16"-20" pieces and stack it. On the day of the removal, the crew showed up two hours late with no phone call or text. I was nervous that they weren't going to show up, so I called Jeremy to touch base. The crew finally arrived, and I went to my neighbor's place just down the street. A few hours later, I saw two trucks leaving my lot loaded with two large tree trunks worth hundreds of dollars in hardwood. I confronted Tom, the site foreman, and he said, "I didn't think you would mind." and said he would "knock a few bucks off the price". I called Jeremy, and he apologized for his crew stealing the wood. He said this has never happed before. While we did come to a discounted price, in retrospect, I should have filed a police report. If you hire TLC, keep a very close eye on their crew. They are obviously not trustworthy. If they were willing to steal from me, it's possible that they have done the same to other customers as well.
