We luckies arrived at 10:55-just in time for the hourly spray! The geyser erupted for about ten minutes--sulphuric smells, oh my--but was neat, with little viewing niches off the walkway. If you get a space here, you too may get sulphuric mist getting on you. Yes, the sidewalk is a bit wet from those eruptions, and minerals crust the walkways and eruption area. So pull over in this unique spot. The cemetery behind the park was unaffected but the eruption. For the living there are public bathrooms on the way out of the park in case that ten-minute water spray inspires the need.

It's not too high up in the sky, but honestly fun for kids ages 5-15. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this. Every hotel/condo/resort should tell parents about this gem. My kids didn't want to leave!

And this summer, when we stopped in Jackson on our trip to California, my boys demanded that we allow time for the rock climbing wall. So, after lunch, we did. It's more of a boulder replica than a rock wall but very significant with lots of options for climbing to the top of this 8-10 foot man-made 'boulder' that's approximately 40 feet by 10 feet. Numerous handholds. This is a serious challenge. I don't know much about rock climbing or bouldering and that will be evident in this description. Neither do my boys. All I know is that they love this feature of this park in Jackson, and I've never seen anything else like it anywhere in America.

We found this gem during our visit to Jackson Hole. The hot spring is suitable for all ages -- we…read moresaw families with kids enjoying the pools, while many adults relaxed quietly in the water. There are approximately six pools at the site. When you first enter, you will see two pools designed for children and their parents. To the right, there is a cold plunge and another hot spring. If you walk further down the path, you will find two more pools. In addition to the hot springs, the park also offers a small playground for children and a sunbathing area for adults. We tried all the pools except the ones designated for kids. We loved the hot pools, but the cold plunge stood out, it was so cold that it made us feel numb. After soaking in the hot springs, we purchased some drinks from the front desk to cool down. The site also provides showers so you can rinse off the hot spring water before leaving. We recommend bringing your own towel and a waterproof phone protector, just in case you accidentally drop your phone.

The LSR Preserve is near Phelps Lake and has a visitor center. I like driving to the Preserve on Moose-Wilson Road because there is all sorts of wildlife and natural features to be seen. You can also hike through this area. I parked and walked all the way to the visitor center while taking in the amazing views. The trail is surrounded by a sagebrush meadow. Lake Creek flows out of Phelps Lake and is a short walk from the visitor center. The visitor center ended up being closed when I arrived. It is in a wood building and offers ranger-led programs, trail information, weather, and information on Mr. Rockefeller's vision for the Preserve. The LSR Preserve is a beautiful area and worth checking out when open.

The art galleries are exquisite with a lot of beautiful pieces to admire. We walked through the antler arches & sat in the square watching Jackson Hole pass by. But I still enjoyed myself as I was surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. I think I stopped at every overlook just to see the mountain range from different angles. My favorite spots were Oxbow Bend and Schwabacher Landing. Both places are great for viewing the sunrise. The wildlife is pretty active in the park; however, I did visit in spring when wildlife is the most active. I saw bears, moose, and bison. It was incredible. If you are into hiking, Grand Teton offers many hiking trails. Taggart Lake trail is one of the most popular ones and it is gorgeous. This is just a short review, there were many other things I enjoyed. Overall, an amazing experience.

The Teton Range is absolutely jaw-dropping, especially with all the snow still covering the peaks. Even driving through with mountains filling your windshield felt surreal. Fair warning if you're planning an early May trip: Moose Wilson Road was still closed when we went -- that's actually one of the best spots in the park to see moose -- and the boat shuttle doesn't run until May 15th. We didn't spot any moose since it's still too early in the season for them to be active along the road. So if you want the full experience -- open roads, wildlife, and water access -- aim for after May 15th. But even with those limitations, the scenery alone is worth every mile. Come here before everyone else discovers it.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Here are a few tips based on my experience: We lodged in Victor, Idaho, which was super convenient for Grand Teton NP. It's much more affordable, and the drive was beautiful. There is so much to do at GTP--I recommend exploring the park for at least 2+ days. Here's what I recommend. Start each day early: * 5:45 AM - Schwabacher's Landing (sunrise) * 6:45 AM - Snake River Overlook * 7:30 AM - Mormon Row (barn glow) * Jenny Lake Shuttle (8-8:30 AM, $20 RT) * Hike Hidden Falls (0.5 mi, 15-20 min) * Hike Inspiration Point (0.4 mi , 20-30 min) Take a break and have lunch at Dornan's Pizza Pasta Co. After lunch, head over to String Lake (swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding). End your day at Glacier View Turnout and Mount Moran Turnout for a scenic drive along Teton Park Road.
