Contacted a company owned by a retired Fire Chief who said the line was fine and all we needed was a new cap for which he charged just over $300. Joe and the team were very professional and did a great job on our two chimney's; boiler heat and fire stove. Our livingroom is an add-on to the original house from the previous owner. The fire stove is great, but it wasn't meant to be a fire stove, was meant to be a regular fire place, so the liner and cap on the chimney were never done properly. Joe came in, and even with the supply chain issues, was able to get the parts to bring it to code within a couple of weeks. I highly recommend him. The only reason that I didn't give him 5 stars, was due to the follow up communications, of when they would work on the chimney and had to call myself a couple of times, but once we locked down a date, everything was great. Joe's team came on the date we scheduled and Joe personally followed up, after his workers completed the job. The previous company did not fix our problem so when Joe and Brian arrived they saw what was needed which was not a liner but a new damper. I used alpine a couple times, never again. Their workmanship and attention to detail is atrocious. I hired them to install a clean out door on my chimney. They literally spent ten minutes installing it with cement and silicone, it looks like total crap. They didn't even use a trowel, they just spread the cement and silicone with their fingers. After they left, a giant glob of cement fell from the top, inside of the clean out opening. I opened the door to find it laying there, dried to the floor of the box, in a pile. I had to chisel it out. I recommend that you look elsewhere for your chimney needs, because these guys suck. Follow up to the retailer comment: I did call you and ask you to fix it. Your guys looked at the thing and basically shrugged their shoulders. They told me they didn't see a problem. It shouldn't take a bad review for you to finally attempt to do the right thing. Forget it, I don't need anybody from your company to ever set foot on my property again. read more

Hired them to install a stainless steel flue; gave them $1,000 deposit; told 4 weeks; radio silence; called the 5th week; they finally came out 7 weeks after estimate; brought the wrong size pipe so their crew wasted a half day getting the right size pipe; during chimney cap work the workers left the fireplace uncovered so soot and dust got all over my living room; tried to talk to workers about this but none spoke more than conversational English; called the main office and got voicemail; finally connected hours later and had to go back-and-forth to get 1/2 usual house cleaning bill and $60 for smaller pipe (no receipts provided) deducted from final bill - I WILL NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY AGAIN read more

Bad guys! Be careful! Alpine called me and asked me if I would like to have my chimneys swept. My oil conpany used them when installing my new heating system, so I figured they were trustworthy. They swept the chimneys and recommended that I have a liner installed because my chimney was damaged. They even showed me a picture of the inside of "my chimney" They installed the liner, took my $1800 and left. The next winter, my heat goes out. The oil company tells me the liner is too small and that my chimney was fine and I didn't need a liner. It turns out, the picture was of someone elses chimney. Alpine, you got me. We called Alpine Chimney Sweeps to get a chimney flue cap replaced, as we got a $20 off coupon by mail. The person who came to perform the services gave a verbal quote to my wife that it would be $150 if we got both flue caps done. Once on the roof, he called my wife and mentioned that the crown needed to be repaired, which he indicated would be $200. My wife told him to go ahead with it. On completion of the job, she was presented with an invoice for $700.00 2 flue caps installed - 300.00 1 vent cap installed - 75.00 2 crown repairs - 325.00 Since the job was already completed, there was no choice but to pay the amount. Instead of an expected cost of $150 - $350 dollars, we ended up paying $700. Apline should have clearly stated the expected costs in a written estimate, particularly when the numbers were going to be so high. They might have thought that they were being clear in their communications, but when dealing with customers who rarely use such services, and when the terms are unfamiliar, this just leads to unhappy endings without a written estimate being presented. We feel that we were rushed into the decision making, with an unclear understanding of whether all the services performed were required, and what the total cost of the repairs would be. Alpine needs to clearly articulate the services being provided, the need for such services, provide a written estimate and gain customer approval before proceeding with the work. Otherwise, they are just going to have a growing list of unhappy customers. read more
