She conducts all my annuals, bloodwork and treated my toco toucan for iron storage disease and diabetes, whom we eventually had to put to sleep based on his condition. She always kept his quality of life in the forefront as we tried to do what we could to save him and that's what I appreciate the most about her and her staff. Because this is a teaching hospital, when Marcie teaches those around her I am constantly learning too which I really appreciate. It allows me to leave with more information and tools than I came with that I can use to do a better job caring for my birds overall. They give me detailed paperwork about every part of their exams and what to modify going forward. I then always get a follow up phone call explaining everything to me in words I can understand not having a vet background on some things and I feel like all my conversation with Marcie are very collaborative which I appreciate. Marcie also always gives my birds the time and space to be as comfortable as possible in the exam room. She will use treats and training to earn trust and make the exam easiest on them. I love that the most about coming here. I've never felt rushed in an exam, ever, and they let me participate in a way that makes me feel respected as my bird's caretaker and allows me to help make my bird's experience as voluntary as possible.

We have had to take our asthmatic cat here multiple times because he gets flare ups that need…read moreimmediate treatment before we can get him to our regular vet. WSU was able to get his breathing back to normal in a period of around 12 hours, but the vet students/doctors controlling the care he gets refuse to listen to us on what medicine and treatment works best for him. We have owned him for almost 5 years and have had to go through this many times, we know what works best for him. We understand the need to get a medical history and explain their plan of action, but we have had multiple instances of them refusing to give a steroid shot we know works to bring his breathing back to normal because there are some health risks that can arise from administering this. He has his bloodwork done often and all of his levels are normal every time, he had never had a problem with this medicine in the past, his regular vet administers it on an as needed basis and she was flabbergasted they refused to give him the medicine. They would only give him a different stupid shot that wears off in a day or two, causing him to flare up AGAIN and needing even more medicine to get him back to normal because he now got two different steroid medications instead of the one that actually works long term but can possibly cause issues. We have had to ask our vet to manually put notes in his records telling the vets to administer the medication they refuse to use. The last time we went the vet student said they would talk to the doctor on administering the specific steroid he needs because we had to emphasize at least 5 times that this medication works for him and no other treatments work as well for the long term delay of flare ups. They lied and said they just didn't have the medication which we know is false and gave him the other steroid that does not work effectively on him overnight so we had no say on that administration before it was given. Would not recommend if you have a pet that may need treatment that isn't quite standard go to care, they will not listen and just do what they think is right even if other vets have been doing this treatment for years and has to tell them to do it. I believe it is their egos thinking they know best and don't have to listen to owners because they've been through the schooling. They are also extremely expensive for the services they provide and always contact you later than they say they will, we often have to call hours after they said they would to get a status update. Obviously I am very happy that he is able to get oxygen and his inhalers to bring his breathing back to normal, but they would rather keep him overnight with no additional treatment, that delays his return to baseline, so we can take him to ANOTHER vet when we can get in to actually give him the medication that stops his flare ups long term.

I called this vet at 7:30pm and was told to bring him in right away and they would see what they could do. We unfortunately had to stay 30 minutes past close but they were so kind and didn't fault us one bit. His eye needed to be removed ASAP and they were able to squeeze us in the very next day to remove the poor guys eye. The vet was amazing and explained all the risks for a kitten so young and small and answered all our questions thoroughly. This wonderful communication continued through his surgery and after when he had to stay overnight. Kitten did amazingly and they got all of the procedures done under anesthesia that we had hoped for. When I picked him up the next day they sent home an adorable letter with him. We will be returning here with the rest of our pets for establishing care, vaccinations, and any emergencies! Thank you!

All we need to do is put Oscar in a bathroom so that he's in an enclosed space. Dr. Merry goes in, has a wrap with velcro, and she wraps them up like burritos. The wrap has openings so she can take out one leg at a time (to trim claws, give vaccinations, and perform other necessary check-ups). It is great not to go into a clinic with dogs, noises, strange smells and everything else that upsets cats. Dr. Merry can do all things a pet needs for routine health care, and under her guidance and help, Levon has gone from 18.3 to 15 lbs (over 16 months) and she has a working relationship with one of the clinics in town, so for things like teeth cleaning and surgery, she can refer her patients to them. I learned about Dr. Merry from a friend with 2 cats & 2 dogs, so this wonderful service is for all pets. We have a coffee table that's perfect for her scale and tools, and seeing a vet at home is so comfortable! I was worried it wouldn't work with Oscar because he freezes with terror at the vet's but at home I was worried he'd be impossible-- Dr. Merry, though, is a miracle worker. Levon loves her and hangs out with her after he's free, the best review there is.

After I called this place on a Tuesday, they said to bring him in that day and they set us up to get him fixed on the following Friday. They gave us a full rundown of everything that was going to happen with him getting fixed, and they were so gentle with him while giving him his vaccines. He didn't flinch or cry at all and loved the ladies giving him his shots. It was $125 to get my kitty fixed and that literally included his vaccines. I asked why it was so cheap and they explained it was because they didn't have X-ray equipment and some other things that allowed them to be cheaper. We adopted a kitten yesterday from here in hopes to give our other kitten, which we adopted last week at a different shelter, a buddy to play and bond with. However, the latter kitten didn't take well to the new adopted kitten and was continuously hissing and growling at it. Also, the new kitten wasn't eating or drinking water, even when we would sit by it's eating area with it. We just knew it wouldn't work out and knew the kitten would still be adopted if we returned it because the ladies working yesterday said one of their siblings was adopted right away. They also said we had a week to see if it worked, and if it didn't then we could return it. Nothing was mentioned to us about having to keep the kitten for 24 hours. We also figured the sooner we got it back to its sibling the better it would feel and the higher chance they could get adopted together, because they do make a nice pair. Instead of saying she understood the situation, the lady working had the nerve to ask if the kitten lives in a safe and loving environment. For your info, all of our animals have their own beds and they all sleep with us in our bed if they want to. We have also rescued all of our animals in the past from either a shelter or an impoverished community. On top of her rude communication, when my wife took the kitten back, this lady took our cat carrier in their back area and didn't return it to my wife. My wife had to ask for it back, and when she brought the carrier back out, this worker makes an ignorant statement saying "Is the cushion in it yours too". Talk about no professional customer service. All the other workers there have been very kind and friendly, and the animals look like they are well taken care of. But pray to god you don't have to deal with the rude lady who was working there today. She will try to degrade you and make you feel like crap for even trying to adopt an animal. If I was the manager here I would make this lady take more customer service trainings and learn how to talk to people with respect. But I doubt this will happen since it's a government entity of The City of Moscow and we all know certain government employees have great customer service skills with the people that fund their paychecks and buildings via taxes. I think we will make a public records request to see who was working here today and see what kind of trainings this lady has taken for interacting with people.

I adopted my kitten here back in September. I love her to death, but when she first got home she…read morehad one of the worst outbreaks of URI I've seen. I've volunteered for four years in a large shelter that has seen many many URI cats come through. My baby could hardly breathe at times and constantly had a ridiculous amount of goop running from her eyes. She had to be put on antibiotics. She still shows symptoms. URI is very common in shelter kittens, I'll give you that. But last month, after MONTHS of my baby having very runny poop, I took her in for a fecal exam. I only didn't do this before because my vet said to wait it out, as kittens often have sensitive tummies. So after a few diet changes and still no positive turnout, we did a fecal exam. Turns out she had coccidia the whole time! Boy do I feel really awful about her having parasites in her this whole time... But it made me wonder, how many other cats from this shelter have parasites? My advice? Pay attention to your sick cats! Quarantine them so these illnesses do not spread. I know it's almost impossible to keep shelter kittens from contracting URI, but the adult cats that come in deserve better. Don't let your cats run free on the floor?? There's an awful amount of foot traffic. You're opening up ALL of your animals to illnesses and parasites from the outside. All the cats on the floor are exposed to everything us people bring in, and the cats on the floor expose it to the cats in the cages. I've been in your shelter a couple times since, and I've seen some very ill adult cats with URI symptoms. At least give these cats lysine supplements! Yes, I literally mean there's cats on the concrete floor roaming free throughout the facility. Don't boast about being open since 1978; that doesn't necessarily mean you're a great facility. It means you're the only facility around and therefore the only option for the public. That's why you're still in business. My kitten also had fleas when we first brought her home. The cleanliness level of your facility is deplorable. All that dirt, fleas, parasites, that people bring in on their shoes? All the cats on the floor are exposed. Don't house cats on the dirty floor of your facility. Cleaning once a day doesn't stop people from walking through the door throughout the entire day and exposing your cats to illnesses. Take better care of your animals, for their sake. They deserve so much better in their time between homes. Look at other humane societies for quarantine and cleanliness ideas. It IS possible to quarantine URI cats.
