We had a wonderful experience with the guys at Alpha Transmission. After a truly terrible string of events ending in towing our 2001 Jeep Cherokee from Daytona to Charleston in the snow, Scott helped us unload our car from the hitch and started to work almost immediately. The pricing was fair and honest. They were not looking for things to fix that were not broken - and even gave us a suggestion on where to get a cheap part so we could fix something ourselves. We had to get our transmission rebuilt (not surprising as the previous owners had not taken great care) and it was done quickly and came with an excellent warranty. Driving an older vehicle with high mileage, my old Buick had stopped dropping into passing gear upon acceleration, and would cut off at intersections... So I thought it was just hopeless. Went to Alpha early morning, and Scott carefully explained the 'worst case' and what that meant - a rebuild, and the upper range of the costs. Then Scott drove the Buick for a road test, and offered an alternative that it could be a sensor. Scott's intuition proved correct! Most surprisingly, he had the repair done to the accelerator position sensor completed while I waited! Home before lunch, and his repair solved the low idle speed I had noticed, and she runs like brand new. Courteous, professional service with a fair price, and so I recommend Alpha 100% !! read more

I took my 528i BMW to them for a transmission fluid change and after completion I was told all was fine so I Start car and at takeoff it jerked from first gear through 4th gear immediately after driving off I drove the car back to shop Scoot drives it again with me in car and stated again that car was fine, that I was lucky that the transmission was performing at all. Fast forward took the car to another shop where a knowledgeable BMW mechanic listened to me and was extremely professional mechanic first of all stated mam no your bmw should not have a jerky transmission. He drove it came back to me with this the BMW's have to be re-set after a fluid change and that obviously Alpha Transmission did not do what they were suppost to now my car performs as a BMW should. i personally feel that I was not respected and treated like I was an idiot. Had my tranny rebuilt there, but never would go into tow/haul mode. Reason? It was never going into O/D after the rebuild. 14 months later, it burnt up. My car's transmission was on its last leg and the dealer wanted almost $3,000 to put a new-to-me used transmission in. I contacted Alpha Transmission via Yelp and heard back from them in short order. After a couple messages were exchanged, I had a quote for around $1,500 and agreed to bring my car in the next day. I dropped my car off and only a few days later it was ready and running perfectly! Mind you, the only reason it took a few days was because they had to order and wait for the transmission to arrive. I highly recommend these guys! Called to get estimate and a drop transmission and pick up time. The quote for price was a couple hundred over,not bad. Was told if i drop off tues , they would get prices to me wed and if parts could get in they would have by Friday. When I dropped off tues they told me it would be ready next weds... this should have been a red flag but i was like I can reschedule work around it. I get a text that weds asking for my bin so they can order parts, then I'm told if i dont overnight it will be the following tues. I pay to overnight and get my transmission on Fri. Go to put it in and I'm missing the transmission bracket. I call and text and finally get a text next morning saying he would look and was I sure I had it on there. I assured him it was on there and went to shop to look. They had the attitude that whoever took out transmission did it. I took it out and left on there because there was no need for me to over work.
