After a bout of acute bronchitis for what seemed like forever, I finally realized that something needed to be done about the cough leakage issue. Women! We don't have to live like this!! I made an appointment with a surgeon first, and my daughter suggested I try PT instead. I reached out to a few practices in the area, and Dr. Amy was the first to respond. I appreciated her energy and how carefully she listened to every word I spoke, and she gave me confidence that things can and will get better. I talked to her about things I've never shared with another person. She evokes trust the minute you speak with her. While it can seem cost prohibitive at first glance, this is our health and our bodies we are talking about! It's worth every penny and every second of your time. And it's only 12 or so sessions! That's it! I'm only halfway through, and the change is remarkable. Unlike larger PT practices, this is super private and in a very comfortable setting. You work with the same doctor each visit and she makes time for you so you don't have to wait weeks to see someone. Look, we've been preached about Kegels our entire lives, and sometimes they just aren't enough. I implore women and men to reach out to Dr. Amy and start the work. It will make a huge difference in your life. The appointment I had with a UNC surgeon, well, that's been canceled! And, it's a woman-owned business! Win. Win.

Judging from the website, their practice most closely resembles the one we left in CA (which we LOVED). I called to inquire about making a new patient appointment and the nurse flatly said I can't make an appointment without records from my previous pediatrician being sent to their office first. No biggie, I emailed the old office and they promptly sent over the records. I called 10 business days later to schedule the appointment and was told they don't have the records yet. Weird. I called back twice a week for a month to check. No records. Finally I emailed over my kids immunization records explaining my baby needs to be vaccinated. The nurse emailed back confirming the vaccination records but stated I can't schedule an appointment without the full medical record. I emailed a week later asking if they've received the records yet. She then calls me and says I can't schedule an appointment b/c my kids are behind on thier immunizations and that I should take them to the Health Department to get caught up. After that, I can come into the office for a well visit. So now, after six weeks, I've decided to go elsewhere.

I hate to admit it because I have always been a "clean cut" kind of gal, but I fell into a deep depression three years ago. I started taking all sorts of antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, weight loss drugs - all on top of years of heavy coffee and sugary drinks. It wasn't until I fell into the deep hole of disposable vapes that doing things like eating popcorn suddenly became excruciatingly painful. Sometimes I would eat an almond and it would feel like there was lightning going all of the way down to the roots of my molars. I am pretty tough, but even after being numbed over multiple times, I could still feel it when dental work was being done. Throughout all of this, Dr. Bland remained patient and continued to check in with me. He could tell if I made a small movement that indicated my discomfort and would see if I needed a break or more numbing relief. Thankfully, I am no longer having any of the sensitivity since I stopped consuming large sums of coffee, sugar, and most especially since I stopped vaping. I love everyone who works with him. The fact that he has people who have been by his side for close to a decade or more really says something about who he is as a person. I have been moving around my whole life and have been to many others. He is genuinely the best I have visited. The office is immaculate, beautifully designed and simply top notch. Plus there is a spa on the second floor that gives great massages. I never thought I would think of a place like this as a little oasis, but I certainly do now.

At 56, I have been through my share of rheumatologists. Unfortunately, there is no cure or remedy that will rid me of any of these issues. Dr. Gregory Borstad does his best to help me manage my symptoms, including extreme sensitivity to touch/pressure in certain areas (lower, inner calves, soles of feet, outer, upper thighs), muscle pain, exhaustion and fatigue, arthritis, depression (related to not feeling well), & headaches, along with GI problems. Dr. Borstad really wants to help, but he doesn't have a magic wand, just like none of the others do. But I do like him a lot because he listens and cares. He will often be open to prescribing medications that I ask for, such as biologics, but he will not provide pain management. (I have to get my hydrocodone elsewhere. I am only on one 10 mg tablet per day, cut into thirds or quarters, but he will not prescribe it.) Nonetheless, doctor hopping has become a total drag for me, because my illnesses are what they are. So I will stick with Carolina Arthritis Associates. They bill my BCBS insurance at a MUCH, MUCH more reasonable rate than Wilmington Health's rheumatologist, Heather Favorito, so my co-pay is not such a huge financial burden as it was with her--even though I did like her a lot. Also, Dr. Borstad's assistant, Farah, is very efficient and gets back to me in a timely manner. The nurse assistant whose place Farah took was just as lovely and efficient. It just sucks that I cannot live my life normally. I wish there were more answers.

Wendy SIMMONS, PA apparently has a habit of releasing you from her "care" if you try to hold her…read moreaccountable? Pattern of sending certified letters terminating you from her care including the 3 other MD doctors you've never seen before? Reason for release was I was being NON-COMPLIANT? NEW to me, I've done everything prescribed, daily Tymlos injection, 6-month calcium level check-up. I left a message asking when I was due for my next bone density test after taking drug for 10 months, I was anxious to know if it was working/creating bone (Fractured T8/Osteoporosis). Assistant returned my call from 9/10 on 9/14. Assistant left a message stating "we'll talk about that at the end of the month (9/28) and that they would do a bone density test then to decide if I should remain on the drug or not. Not satisfactory, when I called back I corrected the assistant as SIMMONS told me I needed the test done on the same machine (by Delaney) not Carolina Arthritis? I asked her what is going on over there? Had SIMMONS taken a just a glance at my chart, she would know this? I said "no wonder she has a 2 star rating out of 5" (truthful statement - Healthgrades.com) Not only that, but it turns out the appointment wasn't even for a bone density test, but a calcium level check which the drug mandates every 6 months. The assistant only reported to me what SIMMONS reported to her. Today I went in for the follow-up and was escorted out the back door by manager, Steve. He said I was notified the appointment was canceled in the letter, not true. He said "I made derogatory comments to the staff? Not truthful by any means. He has NO clue of what transpired. I was absolutely frustrated, but that's not being non-compliant nor was I derogatory to anyone by asking the assistant why she called and couldn't answer the my questions, nor did she report what the next treatment or appointment was for. I spoke the truth. I told the assistant I'm not coming in for a bone density test as SIMMONS told me it couldn't be done there? It has to be on the same machine it was originally taken on which was Delany Radiology! I went in for my appointment today, 9/28 and was escorted out the back door. Steve called me from the waiting room, once the door closed to the lobby he said we're not treating you any longer and waived the certified letter I had signed for at me. I asked if we could go somewhere in private so I could speak for a minute. We went down the hall and stood by a door that lead to outside. I asked if we could listen to the transcripts and he said "not available". He didn't care, just wanted me gone. He said I was derogatory to staff. He had absolutely no idea what happened, someone just told him to take care of it! I Left in tears. Takes months to be seen by doctors in Wilmington, not 30 days? WENDY SIMMONS should not be allowed to dismiss patients because she can't keep track of her patients, doesn't care and has no follow-through. CAROLINA ARTHRITIS should and the 3 doctors who signed the letter should take time to learn both sides of the situation as she obviously makes a pattern of these letters with no just cause! HOW MANY other patients beside me are now in harm's way due to the mandated testing by the drug Tymlos which I was denied today (9/28)? SAD day when I was terminated for being my best advocate! SHAME on Carolina Arthritis for allowing, supporting her behavior. Too much DRAMA in this office, ask her assistant. When will it STOP for the patient's good???

The staff at La Belle Vie were so kind and put me at ease, answering all my questions and making sure I was comfortable. I recommend Dr Church to anyone who is considering having implants removed. I was worried how my breast's would look, and more importantly, how I would feel psychologically, once the implants were removed. I even ordered some silicone chicken cutlets prior to my surgery, but to my surprise, I don't need them. I couldn't be happier with the way my breasts look and feel now.
