I took a trip out to Oahu April 2024 and was really craving getting a tattoo out there. I searched many tattoo shops as I'm very picky about who I want tattooing on my body. I came across Wil's amazing work on IG! After looking through his page, I knew I wanted to get a a fine line tattoo by him so I reached out about 2 weeks before I flew out in hopes it wasn't too last minute notice. I was so happy when Wil said he would be able to take me in. The tattoo shop is a little hidden but once found you feel a very welcoming presence. Wil allowed me to take as much time as I needed to really perfect the design I wanted. He continuously asked me if I liked it as he drew my design and never made me feel bad if I wanted something changed. The whole process took about a 1-1 1/2 hours. A year later my tattoo still looks amazing and didn't even need a retouch! Next visit to Hawaii, I'm definitely getting tattooed here again :) read more

I was in Hawaii with my partner for a really short vacation and decided to get a tattoo specifically fine line. While I was browsing yelp for tattoo places and reviews, I came across to this place and gave them a call and left a vm. Mark got back to me and he was very nice and approachable, he told us to look into their instagram acct to see their art. He also suggested James to us since we were looking for fine line artist. We made the right decision to go with James, we told him that we are tourist and leaving soon and he opened up his schedule to accomodate us which we really appreciate. One thing we appreciate also is that he gave us options, brainstroming ideas and came out with these two wonderful art. James is the best on fine line. We will definitely come back next year. We love the set up of their place cool and clean. The artists that were there at the time of our appointment were chill and got a positive vibes right away. We really stayed there like late late bec we were hanging out with Mark and James that we forgot to return our umbrella at Walmart so we left our beach umbrella to them since we have an early flight tomorrow. My family flew in for my cousin's graduation and we had decided on a whim to get matching cousin tattoos. We reached out to a couple of studios/artists who weren't able to squeeze us into their schedule given how last minute we were looking to get it done, which is understandable. We stumbled upon AOS on instagram and texted them to inquire if they would be able to do 5 small, fine line tattoos within a time frame of 4 days, since everyone would be flying out. The owners responded so quickly and answered all of our questions and were able to make time for us! Our tattoo artist, Mark, pulled up several inspiration pictures for the style and shape of the tattoo we wanted. We also threw in a random design idea at the last minute and he was able to incorporate that suggestion. We were in love with the stencil and were incredibly excited to see the finished product!! All of us were debating tattoo placements and Mark was so accommodating and placed stencils on all the places we were considering to help us make our decisions. He also let us know what he thought of our placement (difficulty tattooing, taking up space if we wanted more tattoos in the future, etc). He also played music in the studio and created such a relaxing environment, especially since it was a first tattoo for some of us! 10/10 recommend going to this studio! We are absolutely in love with how it turned out and couldn't recommend this studio more!!Mark is a wonderful artist with a welcoming and nonjudgemental vibe, which It made this experience all the more memorable for my family. I can rave on and on about the studio itself (clean, comfortable, and overall pretty relaxing in a way). I have been getting my work done with Lauren for a few years now. Per usual she was very open, communicative, and kind. This flash design was on my chest, and definitely my biggest piece by her so far. i've been here a few times, most recently earlier this month for two new pieces from lauren and wil (see photos). they moved across the hall and the new space is really cool and vibey :) lauren did this memorial piece for my dog and she always does a great job, they're so pretty. she did my first ever tattoo! lauren is great at responding to emails and is so sweet. wil did my knee piece which is a lily with leaves to blend my existing tattoos (bunny and strawberry) from other artists. he's an awesome artist and drew on the leaves by hand. wil is such a fun guy to be around! read more

My boyfriend and I have been going to James for around 1 year now and have been impressed by his consistent tattoo quality! He has been improving a crazy amount and has amazing fine line skills. As of 02/01/2022 there are people who have been harassing me for making this review, I don't know if there are connected to this place but please keep it up because you're just showing that everything I wrote on this review to be accurate about this place. Try to follow me here...and TRIGGER WARNING for anyone who has experienced/survived through DV/SA. This place has amazing artists and I know this because I've seen their work and as an artist myself, you gotta give credit where credit is due. The artists here are talented, and this recent move to this new location, in Kaka'ako, it is absolutely beautiful in comparison to where they were before. That place was...let's be honest, a shithole, excuse the language, but this new spacious place makes that old place look like "the bottom," LOL so happy for them. However, this review is going to be based solely on the experience I just had Today, Monday, January 24th, 2022. To give you context. I've been tattooed before at AOS and that particular experience itself was wondrous. Even though, the surrounding area seemed sketchy, and the entrance to their previous studio was very creepy. I had a great time there, and it really made me forget about the bad. Their old location was a lot smaller, so the new spot is a huge upgrade. It was nice to see the studio match the peoples vibes/talents, when I walked in today, on Monday, the 24th of January 2022. I was laying down, getting ready to be tattooed by my artist, when another artist came in. He had the most nastiest attitude. I'm not sure what the reason was behind his hostility but you could absolutely feel his aggression, in the way he spoke. You could feel his energy in the way carried himself and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I have never experienced this anything like this before. In this recent encounter for me, compared to the one I had before with this establishment made everything I felt beforehand pretty much go to shit. Excuse my language, but even though I wasn't part of the conversation, it was still happening around me, in fact, it was happening OVER ME... He threw his gloves off and was stomping his feet, making it seem as if him being there was unbearable for him. He made me uncomfortable and feel unsafe and I definitely tried to play it off. ESPECIALLY, when he left and slammed the door, it felt like the walls shook. You could tell he was fuming and I really don't know what for when he instigated the conversation and proceeded to antagonize and be malicious to my artist in front of me, their client. The conversation, was made up of comments and remarks like, "Oh, so nice of you to finally show up." and "I mean, it's about time you showed face." And him scoffing at anything my artist said. LIt was very condescending and narcissistic, and I would never have ever imagined that I'd experience something so unprofessional in such a really beautiful place (because their new tattoo studio is NOOOOOOICE!!). I really can't help but to think that this place isn't run well if there is such bad turmoil within it. I mean I was just so startled by his actions, I really had to hold myself together because my artist started to breakdown. And who could blame them? That one artist came in, wreaked havoc for 10 min and left blazing. I am definitely one, for people expressing themselves and doing as they see fit, but there IS a place and time for these things and in front of a client is NEVER it that...just throw him in the trash. Even though, I was feeling unsafe, I did my best at trying to "hold it down," for my artist. Because I didn't understand what was going on and I was still processing what just happened, I ended up asking my artist if I should have even been there and or if we should even continue to proceed with getting a tattoo. I'm amazed at how my artist was committed to finishing my piece and decided to endure all that she just went through. I just feel like, for a place that looks so grand WHATEVER goes on internally shouldn't EVER be done in front of clients. And I know we're all humans, but that triggered me so bad, I was lost for words since then(I'm finishing this review on Thurs. 01/27/2022 @ about 1am). All there's left to say is that, what happened was NOT okay and I DID NOT FEEL SAFE. Words cannot explain how much I love this place, and that's probably why it's taken me so long to write this review! I was visiting home for a few weeks so I made a last minute request for three small pieces, and Marta got back to me immediately. She was so sweet and responsive and I was booked with Wil within a few days due to a client cancellation (my gain!). He did such an incredible job that I honestly cannot have anyone else tattoo me at this point (and I've seen a lot of artists). Like LITERALLY would laser off old tattoos just to have more space for Wil to work! Some incredible things about him: 1. Wil's a perfectionist. He printed the stencil in various sizes and rearranged it about five times until he was satisfied it was straight. I really appreciated that because I feel like in previous experiences the artist would lay the stencil and asked if it looked ok and I'd feel like an inconvenience if I really wanted to do it again. Also my pieces were so small, but he put so much care and respect into the process. 2. Wil's energy is on point, which I think is an aspect that I've undervalued before. Like it's one thing to be an incredible artist but if the person seems moody or like they don't want to be there, it can honestly feel like they're just drilling that energy into your body as they work. Also it truly just makes for an uncomfortable experience! Wil's got a chill friendly vibe that makes sessions feel way less intimidating. 3. His lines are beautiful and his art is incredible! His personal drawings look lifelike, which I think is a testament to his skill while his tattoo style is so versatile. Definitely will be coming back and already looking forward to my next experience! read more

My first impression when I stepped inside the studio was that it was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. For visuals, the studio has a monotone and plant aesthetic, with scupltures to match it. I've noticed that every artist has their station and when I passed by them, it was very well maintained and tidy. Though parking is a bit tough as I had to find street parking, the way my tattoo came out was worth it! Lauren has done all my tattoos and I have been going to her since her previous tattoo shops. I must say that she is very patient and friendly. I did not know where I wanted my tattoo so I asked for her suggestions. Though it was a small and simple tattoo, I could tell that she really cared about her work and that every tattoo, no matter how simple is important to Lauren. I also went to get my finger tattoos retouched and I was out in an hour! Very quick, efficient, and clean. If this is your first tattoo, I would highly recommend this place as they are not at all intimidating and very friendly. Damn. Jodin (Jobiz) is a real one! I'm new to the island and wanted to get tatted out here before I return to the mainland in January. A bunch of friends recommended Jobiz and lemme tell y'all... he does not disappoint. I hit him up on IG and gave him a general idea of what I wanted. "Dreamcatcher with a rose and my grandma's name somehow integrated into it" and this is what he had designed for me. & come on y'all.... Look at those feathers and that shading. yaaaaasssssss! It was spot on fam. Pretty much just what I wanted and I trusted him. He got right into it and I was out within ~3 hours. Let me start w a breakdown.. First off, their studio is super clean and has a chill vibe. The other tattooists seem pretty dope too and super personable. Location is a little confusing, which Jobiz forewarned me. Their studio is located right above the T-shirt outlet store on King St. (if you're facing the building, there are stairs to the left to go up and it's the first door at the top of the steps). They had music playing so it wasn't awkwardly silent or anything. Client service was great. Jobiz constantly checked in w me and kept me updated w the process as he went along. He let me take a break when I needed. This was only my second tattoo and let me just say that shiiiii huuuuuurt lmao. I went in a little too confident because in my head, my first tattoo didn't hurt at all really. So I was thinking "psssshhhhh this isn't gonna hurt". I was getting this tat done and for the first 20+ minutes I was literally laying there praying to myself for the adrenaline to kick in already. HAHA. Jobiz did spray the area to try n help numb the area a bit. But I appreciated his patience and steady work. Followed a good friend to get his 2nd tattoo. We both stumbled across this artist jobiz on our own on Instagram and fell In love with his art work! My friend made the decision that this would be the person to do the job. The minute we walked through the door he was very welcoming, the energy was right, and the studio looked great and clean. Jobiz got right to work not wasting any time, made the tattoo to size, made sure my friend was happy with it and got started. He allowed me to sit next to my friend and help take photos and videos of the process, some places don't allow this. He engaged in great conversation the whole time and didn't make anything feel uncomfortable. He made sure that we felt right at home and that's the best feeling to feel at any place. When he was done the final piece was perfect! No complaints and that's just through the point of view of a ride along. Convinced that this will be the place to get my next tattoo!!
