Having said this, the hygienists and dentists seem skilled, it's just the office staff who are dishonest in what feels like a lack of information in order to get a sale. If you haven't been to the dentist lately or are afraid, Dr. Farr would be the dentist to go to. Dr. Farr is very compassionate, has a calming effect, experienced, professional, patient, he explains things and dedicated to providing you with the highest standard of dental care. He really cares about his patient's. I can see why, Dr. Michael Farr was voted 2015's Best Dentist in Huntley IL and Voted Top General Dentist in Barrington IL in 2016. The cleaning itself was fine--but the front office (specifically the so-called "office manager") is an absolute disaster and completely ruined the experience. Because of the accident, my previous dentist mistakenly billed a cleaning the same night, which caused an insurance mix-up and left a temporary balance on my account. It was already being corrected. A simple, routine fix. Instead of handling it like a competent professional, the office manager chose hostility. Getting an itemized bill--basic, standard practice--was like pulling teeth. She talked over me, came in with attitude from the start, and then told me, "It's your bill, you need to pay it now," followed by threats of sending me to collections. This was after I clearly explained the situation, including that the original office had already reversed the charge. Zero empathy. Zero professionalism. Zero interest in resolving the issue. No acknowledgment of the accident. No willingness to listen. Just aggressive, dismissive behavior. Then it escalated. I had my insurance company initiate a three-way call to clear everything up. She immediately interrupted, started raising her voice, and then hung up mid-conversation saying, "We're done." That is unacceptable. That is unprofessional. That is not how any legitimate office operates. I've worked in the dental field--I understand insurance and billing. This was an easy fix. Instead, it was turned into unnecessary conflict. Bottom line: hostile staff, poor communication, and a complete inability to problem-solve. This office lost a family of three over something that should've taken minutes to resolve. There are far better, more competent dental offices out there. Go somewhere else--somewhere that actually knows how to treat patients like human beings.

Three visits, three issues. The first time I went to Renovo, it was to get a retreatment on a root…read morecanal. Everything seemed to go fine and I really appreciated the care that Dr. Trinh showed me. So when I started having extreme pain in the same place, I went back to Renovo. I got Dr. Wong. Nothing visible on the x-ray, so he decided I must just have some discomfort from my crown, which he promptly pulled off. (Btw - the pain was way higher than my gumline). When my response was near to tears instead of relief, he seemed perplexed. He took me to the 360 x-ray machine, which showed a big abscess in the same root that had been retreated by Trinh. Wong retreated it (again) with apologies that I had to go back to the dentist and pay for a new crown to replace the one he'd unnecessarily removed. Both Dr. Trinh and Dr. Wong are pretty likeable guys, so I was willing to chalk that up to human error. Stuff happens, I guess. But then. I was sent back to Renovo by the VA to address a tooth that was so infected, it was coming out of the side of my gums. Dr. O'Hara told me the tooth was likely cracked through and needed to be pulled. I'd been in pain for months and thought I was finally in a place where I could get relief. But Dr. O'Hara got demonstrably mad at me when I asked if they could pull the tooth. It turned into a weird drama that I don't fully understand. (They seemed to have a lot of issues with working with the VA.) They told me they do not pull teeth unless they also get to be the ones to put in the implant. In the end, Dr. Trinh walked in, pulled the tooth and walked out. I had to call my dentist to ask for after-care instructions. Such a bummer. I really wanted to love this place. But I don't recommend them. At this point, I can't. I can get past the rude receptionist in Schaumburg (the Elgin one is great), but the quality of care is not great. Endodontists are usually awesome problem solvers. Unfortunately, these guys have caused me more problems than they've solved.

Second, I was required to prepay for a 'pulp vitality' test because I was told that insurance might not cover it. The insurance ultimately denied the claim, stating that according to accepted dental clinical standards, this service should not be performed on the same day as a root canal. This was frustrating, as I relied on the office's professional judgment when agreeing to the procedure. Lastly, during my treatment, there was a significant amount of casual conversation and joking among staff. This made me feel overlooked and uneasy during what was already a stressful procedure. I hope the office considers improving patient communication, treatment planning transparency, and overall patient experience.

I had to cancel an appointment and the receptionist screaming at me while my girl was hospitalized that I should have called 48 hours to cancel and that I have to pay 50 dollars of cancelation I told her that my girl was I.
