I went to Dr. Faubl for a tooth that was infected & causing pain & one that was already loose. Both teeth needed to be extracted which I had no problem with. Since one was a front tooth, I wanted to replace it for cosmetic reasons. The other was a back tooth which I decided I was not going to replace. For the front tooth, Dr. Faubl did a fixed bridge consisting of a false tooth attached to two new crowns fitting over the existing teeth on either side. The cost for this procedure was $3,999.99 before a discount from a dental saving plan purchased directly from Dr. Faubl. The cost after the discount plus the cost of the dental plan was $3756.99. Upon the recommendation from a good friend, I have since started going to another local long-time dentist. Out of curiosity, I asked this dentist the cost of the same procedure for the missing back tooth. To my amazement, my new dentist quoted a price of $2,870.00, which is more than 28% less than the full price from Dr. Faubl. Of additional concern is that Dr. Faubl said that I no longer need to take an antibiotic prior to dental work to help to prevent infection since I had a prior knee joint replacement. However, my new dentist insists that I do take an antibiotic prior to dental work & wrote a Rx for it. I know that Dr. Faubl will say that this is no longer recommended, but I rather be safe than sorry & wind up with a serious knee infection. (I was talking to a good friend about this, & he said his brother got a serious knee infection from not taking an antibiotic prior to dental work.) By the way, before going to Dr. Faubl I was going to another local dentist for many years but he sold his practice & retired. But I continued to go there for routine dental work & saw most or all of the dentists that bought the practice. The last dentist that I saw there quoted a price of $2,700.00 for the fixed bridge procedure, also after a dental discount plan. I did not have it done there because I did not really care for, or have confidence in any of the dentists that bought the practice. However, they did have me take an antibiotic before most dental work.

Dr. Sirin purchased the practice that used to operate out of his current location. When you call…read morethe old number, the receptionist answers the phone "Dr. Sirin & Dr. Burren's office". However, Dr. Burren (from whom he purchased the practice) no longer has anything to do with the practice. After going to Dr. Burren for 10+ years, I was used to an efficiently run dentist's office and a dentist with kind bedside manner and a willingness to take the time to converse with you and get into details in regards to any questions you had about your teeth. My experience here was different. I arrived just in time for my appointment, but waited for about 10 minutes in the waiting room. When Dr. Burren ran the place, you never waited more than 2 minutes, tops. When the time came, my hygienist did a great job, but because she had not been properly trained on the new software which Dr. Sirin used, my appointment took longer than necessary and made for what I would describe as an "un-smooth" experience. When she was done, I waited another 10 minutes for Dr. Sirin to come in. When he did, he gave me a brief greeting, looked at my x-rays, and said, "What's the plan for these wisdom teeth?" Somewhat confused as to why a professional was asking me how I plan to proceed in regards to the very professional services for which he was paid, I said, "I don't know...you tell me?" With little to no explanation he told me that they should come out and that the receptionist would give me a referral and that was about it. When I went to pay the bill, the cost was significantly more for similar services than it was under Dr. Burren. I don't like writing bad reviews, but my hope is that other former patients of Dr. Burren will see this review and as a result save a bit of their precious time and money...two things for which, in regards to his patients, Dr. Burren had more respect.

The last periodontist I had seen was so negative and dramatic that I practically felt like a leper. The office staff immediately put me at ease. The exam room had a television on the wall to distract and entertain me which calmed my nerves. The doctor was friendly and reassuring as he examined me, explained our game plan and reassured me that things weren't as bad as I thought. By the time I was ready to check out the staff had already checked out my insurance plan and gave me an easy, affordable plan to maximize my benefits. I walked in the office an uptight nervous wreck. I left the office reassured, a huge weight lifted and a positive perspective with the feeling of a great team behind me and for me.

I haven't felt pain like that in a long time. No apology. Then she went to the other side and did it again! She looked at the hygienist and said "Maybe she's sensitive." Again no apology. She asked me what it felt like and I said it feels like I'm being electrocuted. She said, "Huh." I have had these crowns more than 40 years. No other dentist has done this to me. This is the 4th time this week that my family's appointment has been rescheduled, and it's becoming…read morea constant issue with this establishment. Appointments are frequently being changed or rescheduled, which is extremely frustrating and inconvenient. We have to pay a $75 if we don't cancel an appointment in time, but it's okay for them to not uphold their appointments. The office manager is so aggressive and forces patients to click on the link to give a 5 star review and has even tried grabbing the phone out of my husbands hands after he refused to do it.

I don't care how great or comfortable everything was, if the people who you FIRST see when you walk in the door, can ruin your whole experience....nothing after that is worth it at all. Just today alone, my balance changed 3 times. First I owed 247, then some excuse about the copay my insurance didn't cover so now 297, then after arguing on the phone after walking out, the balance was now 207 because they agreed that they made a mistake. Then after all that, the office manager finally calls us back and states that the balance is actually 247! If the front desk staff is that incompetent, maybe they should be cleaning house and not teeth.

Myself, I think this is all about getting extra money by using the big C-word as a scare tactic. Then they told me I needed a crown. So they would have their billing person check with my insurance to see if I am covered for the procedure. When I asked the girl that handles this in the office, she told me the price is $200 if I am covered and $1300 if not. I would have to call my insurance company to see if I am covered. Is that not what you are paid to do? I will find a new dentist office that will follow through on behalf of their customers.
