The food is beautifully presented and I appreciate their mocktail options. I had the fish special of the day, which happened to be seared halibut served with their achiote rice and onion & bell peppers. The halibut was seared beautifully but imo, cooked just 1 minute too long. The achiote rice could use a touch more seasoning but otherwise the food was delicious and the service was so warm and welcoming.

The staff was nice and they were only seating the bar half of the restaurant. The menu is quite small with a huge tequila selection and some other cocktails. The pricing is pretty high and the food is definitely southwestern not true Mexican, which you can tell from the photos. We had the chips and salsa. The chips were definitely homemade and thick. The chips were delicious alone but I came with a green and red sauce. The green sauce was good, the red was okay and both were mild. For dinner I had the carne asada tacos and my dad had the pollo tacos. Each taco plate comes with 4 and you cannot mix and match. The carne asada was delicious. You could tell the meat was high quality and seasoned well. The tortillas were corn, but thick and delicious. I do not usually like corn but these were phenomenal. The pollo was okay, I wasn't a huge fan of the seasoning on the chicken but I do like that the portion of the meat was substantial. To drink I got their pineapple drink with vodka instead of tequila. It was good but small and almost $20

We arrived shortly after six on a Monday evening, easily found parking and, while about half the tables were full, we were seated quickly. Our waiter was kind but seemed nervous, reading the specials from a note pad. We started with sourdough and an order of calamari (yes, I know there isn't fresh squid within a hundred miles, it's one of our "always order to see what's up" dishes). Bread came out quickly with olive oil, balsamic, and some minced garlic - quite nice. A few minutes later, calamari - lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and a bit bland. It felt like they'd perfectly executed their vision, but it could've used a bit more seasoning to my taste. No tarter or other sauce, but a half lemon and some pickled sweet peppers. I ordered the bison burger and my wife went with the walleye. My burger was medium rare, as ordered, but the bottom bun was soggy and everything was buried in the thinly sliced red onion. It was fine but sadly forgettable other than having to slurp slices of onion after each bite. My wife raved about her walleye though, basically describing it as elevated nostalgia. It took her back to days of fishing on the lake with her family as a girl, but perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We finished with an espresso crème brûlée, which took about 20 minute after our meal to arrive. Apparently the chef was newer and accidentally put pistachios on the brûlée, as we got the last espresso and the next batch was pistachio flavored. We didn't mind, but it had the thickest crust I've ever seen on a brûlée - probably an eighth inch thick. It took two solid whacks to break through and was so thick it felt more like a burnt caramel. The crème itself was lovely but, as someone who prepared hundreds of brûlées in an earlier job and has eaten many since, it was sadly overshadowed by far too much sugar on top. It was an overall pleasant experience but honestly I owe much of that to the company of my wife. If we go back, the only thing we'd reorder is the sourdough to start. My wife loved her fish but still said she'd try something else next time.

The bottom line: can't recommend it. See the pic? The dark brown puddles on my omelet are dirty…read moregriddle grease. The hashbrowns, starchless and un-crispy, seemed to be roped with it too. I ate half my omelet out of hating to waste food, but I feel like they wasted it, not me. The eggs were paper-thin and dry, with the sliced American cheese and cubed ham adding a ton of salt. I prefer well seasoned food, but this was too much. Three stars also might seem like too much, but the bacon was exquisite in quality and preparation, my husband's sunny-side-up eggs were perfect, the coffee was good and hot (even if the service was a bit chilly) and the people watching was excellent. NB: I don't "people watch" with contempt; I care about people. I particularly like to see regular visitors enjoying themselves. That morning we had two older gentlemen meeting for breakfast and Bible study; a quiet interaction between people engaged in sobriety support; a young family trying to wrangle little ones and mostly succeeding; and what appeared to be a trucker taking a late breakfast before hitting the road. All of these could have been regulars from my childhood and I enjoyed the ambiance very much. My family used to go to the Nite Owl in the late 70s / early 80s for rare restaurant dinners. Their Chef's Salad was my favorite treat at the time, and I really savored it. Before moving away from the Valley a few years later, I started ordering breakfasts and they were also grand: fluffy omelets rich with cheese, crispy hash browns...a real treat. Revisiting last week it was not the same. Too bad.

It would normally have grapefruit vodka in it, but I'm not a fan of vodka or any of its flavoring. The kind bartender substituted the alcohol to gin with a splash of grapefruit at no extra charge. I believe the bartender is the owner as it seemed to be a one man show. The same guy was our server, a bus boy, bartender, and our host! He was probably the cook too! Talk about wearing many hats! I ordered the golden and red beets with goat cheese for $12 and this came to the table looking like a colorful masterpiece. Every bite was delicious. The huckleberry creme brûlée was great! The huckleberries are hiding at the bottom of the ramiken. I'm a tourist and was on a mission to eat everything huckleberry and this dessert did not disappoint! It's a must try! My boyfriend ordered the wild mushroom crepe $16 which was roasted wild mushrooms, prosciutto and swiss cheese with mornay sauce. I thought the crepe was a little undercooked, but he absolutely loved it. I also thought it was a bit salty for my taste, but the mushrooms were tasty! I ordered the $16 grilled salmon and andouille sausage over spinach with tomatoes, fresh orange and red onion. I never heard of these two proteins together, but they make a dynamic duo! I'd like to say it's a warm salad and it was so good! The charred salmon was the star of this dish!
