Cucumbers, apples, tomatoes, melons, lettuce you name it. It's there and the size is great! Better than you're average Meijer or Walmart produce. They even have bird and animal feed! Trying to get some meat? Boy are they packin! Huge portions and options: steak, chicken, pork, burgers, beef and all things poultry. Impressed was an understatement. If you need some spirits they got what you need! Pints to fifths and more. They have beer, snacks, and other common food staples. The meat counter is very special! Great guys work back there and are eager to help and make small talk while you wait. The meat is the best quality in the area and very reasonably priced. They will de-bone your chicken, split it and skin it with no extra charge. They have a good selection of quality home grown produce as you can see in my pics. Huge brussel sprouts! Best part? They carry Plath's bacon and ham! Nice and clean and I never smell meat rotting like some grocery stores (you know the smell). Very busy at times especially during lunch because they sell homemade lunch items like sandwiches, salads and soups, homemade brownies, carrot cake and lots of other stuff. I just like the small hometown feel serving up impeccable service! Can be pricey but they run good sales, I got a pound of freshly sliced Eckrich (however you spell that!) Anyways, picked a bun and a Festival Sausage (From what it tasted like, it was bell peppers infused. Next up they had a topping station and it was all the condiments you could think of putting on a hot dog. I specifically got this Corn Relish and it was dreamy, the sweet snap of the corn with the hint of relished veggies .(Highly recommend) At the end of the counter is where you'll pay and it's simple as that. The whole process reminded me of chipotle but a self serve version and with hot dogs. In the back end there is a banquet room to eat in. They also serve ice cream in the lunch room. The staff is very friendly and the sausages are delicious. The jalapeño cheese sticks are really good, spicy but not too hot. Give them a try next time in Alpena, you won't regret it. The building looks to be from the old lumbering days of yore. They also have locations in Roger's City and Gaylord. Recommended.

Warning do not make an appointment at Meijer pharmacy for vaccines unless you do not mind…read morewaiting long past your appointment time. If you speak up the pharmacy workers will threaten you with not providing the service. They may call you names such as, "you are really a piece of work". Lastly, they will flat out tell you, "go somewhere else next time". My advice, don't go to Meijer pharmacy; they do not care about the customer or providing great customer care.

Sunday night, I didn't realize how almost all the restaurants are closed in Alpena. All but 3 were…read morestill open around 8pm so it made sense to go to JJ's Called in my order around 8:20 and the server was joking on the other end which made for a pleasant order experience. Said I ordered the best item currently as his favorite was the Chicken Wrap as well. Said my order would be ready in 30 min. So it gave me time to wrap up some work and walk on over since it was a 10 min walk. Got to the restaurant and I told the lady seating people down I was there for carry out and she redirected me to the bar. Once at the bar the lady took my name and went to the back to grab my meal. When I thought a simple chicken wrap, I didn't think it would be so huge. The portion for it was quite generous. I had also asked for a side of gravy for my fries and damn, it was a whole side tub.
