With the Shelter in Place, everyone has had to adapt and it hasn't always been pretty. But Hali and the teachers' ability to ramp up this quickly is truly remarkable. Online learning is tough in the best of times (I have been an instructional designer and professional trainer and know this from experience)! Ms Angela is superb in managing the class especially with kids this young (5 and 7 yr old). She is not only super adaptable but she's been able to keep them on task and engaged too. Again, speaking from professional experience, this is not easy to do especially in a format that's new to everyone. We previously switched to the San Ramon location and are so glad we came back! The kids can't wait for regular classes to resume and I can't wait to let the pros take over again :) The only negative at this location is that the parking can be tricky but overall worth the hassle. read more

We absolutely love Hali and her team. From day one, they've been welcoming, accommodating and very flexible. I loved the Aloha Mind Math concept of having children learn how to use their left and right brain. I've been practicing meditation and visualization for years. I'm passionate about understanding the subconscious mind, so when I found Aloha, I knew this was something I wanted my daughter to learn early in life. My daughter loves the small classes and teachers. She loves seeing all her friends in class, and it keeps her motivated to do her homework on weekends, even though she hates homework in general. Haha. She loves that she can go at her own pace as well, which is great because it builds her confidence. Her teachers are all great...effective, kind, yet stern. I've told just about everyone about the changes I've seen in my son's math comprehension since starting Aloha. His scores are higher and he "sees" math differently than he did before learning the abacus. But the biggest indication that we're making the right choice is I no longer have to help him with his math homework! I dreaded helping him with his school work in the past because it was ALWAYS a fight. After a couple of months, I noticed he no longer needed my help -- which is kind of sad. :( Now he's on to harder word problems, but since he has a strong number foundation, it's easier for him to sort out the answers. I swear, resolving the homework struggle has been life changing for us. I can't tell you how many doors were slammed in frustration before mind math (by me and him)! The classes have been as helpful for me as for my son. I also enrolled his older sister who already does well in math, but I want to give her a better foundation to help prepare her for what's coming down the road -- having a better relationship with numbers will help all math classes in the future. A year later, my son is so confident in his math abilities that we signed up for the reading and writing program, too. We want to see if Aloha can help increase his scores and comprehension. It's too soon to say if it's working or not, but I'll update my review in a couple of months. read more

My daughter is 4.5 years old and is currently in Montessori preschool. Her teachers say that she's always doing practical life and sensory activities but rarely ventures over to math. Since she starts kindergarten in the fall, I want to make sure she has a good math foundation since she hasn't been showing much interest. I heard about the Tiny Thinkers class and she started in November 2016. First of all, I was shocked by how much she loved the class and has been excited to go back every week. I was not expecting that after her teachers said she had no interest in learning math. The changes have been amazing. Before this she could count to 20 but still mixed up 16-19 and once she got to 20 she would skip to 29 and 30. The other night at dinner we were at a restaurant that had kids toys and one of them was a wooden abacus. As we waited for our food she sat there and used the abacus and counted to 100 and didn't miss a number. I was shocked! I credit Aloha Mind Math for this improvement. I am excited that she learned so much so quickly and I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants their child to be successful in math. read more

This program has surpassed all expectations! My 5 and 6 year olds really enjoy the abacus and mind math. Hali was helpful with every aspect from choosing classes to transitioning to classes via Zoom. Miss Angela is an incredibly patient and kind teacher, and we have been impressed with her seamless transition to online learning. I was skeptical at first but my kids are so engaged and thriving! We started taking our daughter to Aloha Mind Math for the reading and writing classes they offer. We noticed a significant change in her abilities within weeks. It has been noticed at her school as well, as she was moved to one of the more advanced tables shortly after. We also have noticed how it is spilling over into other areas of her life, such as with her swimming lessons. We are glad that we've found Aloha Mind Math for my son. He has been going there for almost 3 years now. We have tried other provider before but didn't get good outcome. But soon after he got in Aloha he improves a lot in Math, I can see that he is very confident and most importantly that he enjoys it. Aloha Mind Math of Walnut Creek has been an amazing support for both of my children (ages 6 and 9). My 9-year-old started the Senior track a year ago and was needing to gain proficiency and confidence in math, which she now has gained in leaps and bounds. In a year she has gained so much confidence in math that she now likes it, unlike before starting Aloha Mind Math. My 6 year old just started the Junior track, and he is doing extremely well. They were paired with experienced and dedicated teachers that know exactly how to help the kids in the areas they need help. Since Covid, Hali had the system set up from day one with zero disruptions, and having zoom classes has made it even easier for the kids to not miss a single class. Hali and her teachers are wonderful! Both of my boys (ages 8 and almost 10) attend Aloha and have very different math skills. My older son is advanced in math, knows his facts and wants to be challenged. He loves Aloha because he could "compete" against himself trying to reach a higher level as quickly as possible. My younger son is good at math but compares himself to his brother. He has gained a lot of confidence and really knows his math facts now. I have noticed a huge improvement in his ability to do his homework independently, correctly and quickly since he began at Aloha. My daughter loves math. She is always in her straight A 's Even though she is 6 grader. We thought why can't give a try In ancient method of calculation. It improves your brain memory, faster calculation skills, Sharpens concentration, Enhances photographic memory. It provides solid foundation for addition/ subtraction/ multiplication/ division. We discovered Aloha from an introduction to Abacus event Hali and her team did at the Lafayette library. My 6 yr old son has been going here for the past 3 months and he absolutely loves it. He always loved numbers and the ability to do mind math is very exciting to him and us. The teachers are excellent and Hali has created a nurturing environment where kids can learn math in a fun way. From a logistical perspective, Hali has been very flexible and accommodative to our constraints. This has helped us immensely in making up sessions when we are unable to attend a class. At a teacher conference for my first-grade daughter today her teacher was impressed by how well my daughter knows addition and subtraction. The teacher knew my daughter has been taking classes weekly at ALOHA Mind Math in Walnut Creek and instantly credited the program, acknowledging that she has a complete understanding of what the numbers mean, that she doesn't just know the answers from rote memorization. My son started ALOHA at Walnut Creek 2 months ago. I am really impressed with the quality of teaching here. The staff here are really accommodating and try in every way to fit the class timings with my busy schedule. They are also very patient with the kids and correct them at every step.
