Was needing a poke fix while I was abroad and Aloha poke did it's job. I was really impressed with the service here. The lady who made my poke bowl was very friendly. The interior of the place had a beach vibe reminded me of SoCal more than Hawaii. But the food most certainly hit the spot (especially after being on that tourist diet for a month).

I'm not sure I can give a fair review as this was my first ever taste of poké.... but I'll give it a go. So first of all I'll mention the service, as a tourist in Madrid, I always try to use as much Spanish as I can. Unfortunately this is next to nothing so when a server is as helpful as they were in Aloha Poké it really really helps. The guy who served us had excellent English and also was great at recommending sauce/toppings flavour pairings. The food is fantastically fresh and (as you can see from the pictures) the rainbow colours are so enticing! I opted for the salmon with a soy sauce dressing and was really impressed with the combination of flavours. The quinoa base I had was also fluffy and light, and I recommend it because it soaks up the dressing making it extra yummy. So why not the 5 stars? A few little reasons. First of all, it isn't the cheapest of meals. A large bowl is around €13 and a small bowl is €10. Personally, I also found the giant cubes of salmon too big. It made the bowl a little bit of challenge to eat. Finally, if you were in a rush...this isn't the place to go. It's a good thing in terms of service because they are super attentive and give you exactly what you want, however for myself and my boyfriend to have 2 bowls to be made and paid for it took over 10minutes, and that was without a queue. So if it's busy I could imagine you'd have a little wait for your food. My first experience of Poké made me want to put my whole mouth in, my whole mouth out. In. Out. In. Out, and shake it all about. It made me want to do the Hoké Poké and turn around....because that's what it's all about!

They probably prefer it that way because the quiet vibe appeared to be part of the ambiance they're seeking here. We just found it by chance on Google Maps as an alternative to the beef-heavy eateries in the neighborhood. We just felt a need to eat healthier. The menu was small and appetizing, and we treated ourselves to two 3,5€ glasses of Zafra Blanco, a crisp Spanish white wine that freshened our palates. We started our meal with a complimentary helping of a "creamy" beetroot dip accompanied by lightly crisped pita chips (Photo 7). Next came the 12€ Spinach and "Parmesan" Croquettes, six lightly fried, falafel-like spheres drizzled with cashew nut mayo (Photo 8). They provided the ideal bites. Jamie went for their signature 15€ Moroccan Bowl with corn couscous, beetroot falafel, sweet potato, spinach, cherries, pickled cucumber, tomato, and fresh dates drizzled with mint yogurt sauce (Photo 6). It was quite a cornucopia of flavors that meshed quite well together with the falafels the particular standout. I decided to go for the 8€ Brochette of "Chicken" with chunks of zucchini and onion and satay sauce over a bed of sweet potato noodles (Photo 9). I'm not sure what the "chicken" was, but the flavor and texture was surprisingly spot-on. At the same time, I'm glad I limited myself to one skewer because I wanted to save room for dessert and the 4€ bottle of sparkling Green Apple Cider (Photo 4). Jamie and I settled on the delightful 6,5€ Tiramisu Cake dusted with Cocoa and swirled with Toffee (Photo 10). We finished our meal with 2€ cups of Cortado with the right amount of warm, steamed milk (Photo 5). We were seated by the table near the window and ordered right away since we knew what we wanted. My friend and I split the mixed paella which comes with shrimp, calamari, crawfish, chicken and sausage. We also ordered two big glasses of the sangria. The paella took about 45 mins to make since all the paellas are made to order. While we were waiting we were sipping on our sangrias which were delicious! The only thing was that it was a bit too sweet for me and I could taste the grains of sugar at the bottom of my glass. The paella finally came and it was a beautiful site to see ! So colorful with the different elements in the dish. The rice was cooked perfectly and everything was seasoned well. It was a bit oily though when you scrape the bottom of the pan to get all the rice but it was delicious!!! During out meal the owner and our waiter has a disagreement about something and were yelling at each other across the restaurant. Kind of disrupted our dining atmosphere but overall the food was good and our service was good. Def. Recommend this place to anyone who wants a good plate of paella and glass of sangria!

You can tell by looking around, the place was emptyish while the tapas places nearby and across the street were full. We actually went inside the restaurant across this place, it was touristy and extremely expensive, we thought, this is not the experience we wanted. We left and entered the Sidreria. Here goes nothing... Here is the lowdown: it is CHEAP, LARGE PORTION sizes, DELICIOUS, super FRIENDLY (bar tender did Everything and was really nice to us. It helped that I speak spanish though) and were you get FREE TAPAS with your drink. Tell me when was the last time you got free tapas in a touristy bar? We ordered a Tinto de Verano (red wine, lemon soda and splash of vermouth) and it was great, cost about 2 euros or so! the only beer though, was San Miguel, but it tastes much better from tap than bottle, we repeated our orders shortly after downing the first batch. The free tapa came as a surprise, we had ordered several (including fried calamari already, and a tortilla) portions again, were cheap and huge. We were full then. At the next round of drinks, another free tapa came. I was surprised again and as a sign of respect, we ate it all again. No comments. A plate of peanuts and soft bread topped with a mayo/potato/fake crab meat. It looked so simple but it was so good! That's when they got me. Simple-delicious (like the tomato on bread and Olive oil) that's it. I was sold and happy we decidedly to enter.
