We came in very last minute and the cashier at the counter was super nice & welcoming! As it was the end of the day, he kindly offered us an extra side of rice and didn't wait long for our food. We got two different chicken sauce, the lava and volcano and they're both good. The chicken itself was a bit dried out and rice was your old plane brown rice. The mac salad was good - all the flavors were there!

Aloha Cafe is an independent local eatery that serves what is referred to as Hawaiian BBQ. It's much like a lot of places on the west coast (such as unrelated Aloha Hawaiian BBQ and L&L Hawaiian) and isn't really BBQ, as southerners, Texans and mid-westerners would define it. Still, they serve up good grub in the form of Hawaiian plate lunches. Volcano chicken: very tasty, slightly spicy, not greasy. Well prepared. Potato-macaroni salad: really nice. Pineapple coleslaw: also really nice and not 'pineapply' Aloha has only a small space that fills quickly with the lunch crowd. Turnover is quick, though, and the ordering process is efficient. Fast casual: order at the counter, your food will be brought to you (or they'll call your name for to-go orders). Bus your own table. Parking can be challenging in the cramped strip mall. Recommended.

Just your standard run of the mill teriyaki joint, but worse. They cover it in sauce tho, like absolutely drench it, which is super sweet and syrupy. Mine also had a funny taste to it like soap but I'm not sure why. The rice is just plain and the noodles have no spice or complexity. The people are friendly and it's quick so they get one star, but after a few bites I threw it away.

Never ever thought I'd be writing this. With the streamlined menu changes. I'll no longer be a customer. Been going since you guys opened, no more "fryer" foods or teriyaki beef. Bummed! If you want some food that's now dragged over the grill and sauced, with awesome service go here. RIP my two favorites, chicken kadzu and volcano chicken . Good luck in the future of streamlined.

It's very conveniently located within walking distance to the rest of downtown Bend. It can get pretty packed, and seating isn't always guaranteed, but if you have time to hang around, the atmosphere is well worth experiencing. There's a bar-style seating area where locals seemed genuinely settled in, giving the shop a true neighborhood feel. I ordered a large Belgian Mocha, which was rich in flavor while not being overly sweet. The espresso was definitely still there, so the drink was beyond just a dessert vibe. Service was friendly and efficient, with my drink ready in just a few minutes despite the crowd. Overall, this is a lively downtown coffee spot best suited for those who want quality drinks and don't mind a local crowd.

Additionally, our barista gave us a coupon for a free 12oz drink because it took more than five minutes for us to get the breakfast sandwich, it didn't seem like a long time to me but that is just good service. The music was tasteful and not too loud which helped cultivate the calm and pleasant ambiance. The pastries were delightful, so good in fact that I was unable to get a photo due to my inability to delay taking a bite as soon as we sat down. We had the ham and gruyère croissant and the plain croissant. The breakfast sandwich was great; the homemade English muffins were dense but not heavy, the bacon was perfectly thick and crispy, the egg was well done, and the pesto mayo tied it all together. The Latte was solid, I regret not trying the syrups which I found out were homemade after I had ordered, it seemed as though everyone who ordered after me got the cardamom syrup in their drinks. My girlfriend got the hemp milk latte, unsweetened. She is a matcha snob and was pleased with her order, which is a rarity for coffee forward places such as Thump. Stop at Thump if you're in Bend.

It was full up at the time, but we found a pair of seats open on their nice couch up against the northern wall, counterclockwise from the entrance to the right and back. I ordered a Matcha Late, it came in a To-Go Cup, with a pretty design on-top. I wasn't asked if I wanted it for here or not, so I was surprised at the to-go cup. I'm a Matcha lover, and the Matcha here comes unsweetened as the only option. OK, I like mine mostly un-sweet. They do a "roll your own syrup" here for the simple syrup (which I'm used to), unfortunately it wasn't on the counter and I had to wait several minutes for it, as my drink cooled down. This method, sadly means messing up the pretty design if you dig sipping through that. I do a nice under-stir on mine, so it's not super messed up, just disturbed a little. I'll add: The syrup bottle was clean, but leaky at the spigot seal and made a mess on the counter as it dripped both at the seal and out the tip as it should on the latter. Onward: I always order an Oat Milk Matcha, and this one was quite thin once you got through the foam. So the base milk isn't as quality and "oaty" as my favorite shops. The drinks menu is really well priced, very competitive. I didn't pay $6+ for my drink, like I often do. I was happy! The help wasn't super friendly, not like other coffee shops, but responded to questions and simple chit-chat when asked and engaged. They just weren't very chatty or "bright and cheery". I felt like they were removed from that part of their job. The guy on the other side of the counter at the drink line was cool though. I felt better about the place after interacting with him. He was really attentive and helpful. My friend ordered a Bánh mì and an Egg & Cheese Breakfast Sando. He was over the moon with both of them. I will say there's a lot of garlic in the Bánh mì, but it was delicious he said. I do love the selection of games and card games here they have. We played a game designed to help you get to know your friends and family better with deeper questions. Very inventive, I had never played these cards before and really loved them. Overall, I will come back. And I'll keep chatting with that guy and just get to know him better. Maybe he takes a little to warm up to new people. I'm cool with that. I think you'll find it homey here and be welcomed and enjoy yourself.
