Roach in room
Monique B.

I checked in on July 31 and Larry at the front desk said there would be a hold for incidentals on my card (which I'm aware of due to many hotel stays) and a charge for parking. That evening I logged into my account to pay bills and noticed that my account was overdrawn. I checked and saw that I had been charged $414.40 which was way more than my stay and I IMMEDIATELY called the front desk and was told that I would have to wait until the morning to get help. I waited until the morning (August 1) and went to the front desk and they knew who I was and told me "It's not much we can do sorry!" I said: "That's unacceptable. I have to get my daughter to her track meet and with my account overdrawn I'm unable to get gas." They said they would relay this to their manager and get back to me. I never heard back from a manager. Tuesday (August 2) as I was getting dressed I was putting on my shoes and noticed there was a roach on the cooler and I didn't want to believe it but sure enough in all it's glory it was having the time of it's life. I went to the front desk and informed them and they said pretty much nothing. I contacted corporate and was supposed to receive a call back the same day but nope I didn't. I received an email telling me I'd hear from accounting in 3-5 business days. It didn't take you 3-5 business days to take money from my account. I'm highly disappointed in the Marriott.

Boutique hotel located about two miles from downtown. I came here for a work trip. I was immediately drawn to the modern decor of the hotel. The lobby included a bar, store, sitting area, and computer workstation. My room had an unconventional layout but was still nicely decorated and spacious. My only two complaints were the TV did not have many channels let alone the Bravo channel. My second complaint was the cleanliness of the bathroom or lack there of. The shower was obviously not cleaned and a gross clump of hair was sitting on top of the drain. Disappointing.

Boutique style hotel with decent amenities and even better employees. The staff was great and helpful. Loved the bathroom set up and the walk in shower.

I stayed here for three days , Dec 23-26, so I was here for Xmas the staff was awesome, super helpful and dog friendly!!! Lexus got treats everyday. They have spare dog beds and dog bowls this is the dog friendliest hotel I have stayed at !!! The room is super fun and has a bean bag it as well as a nice shower and a small desk to work from. The bed was comfortable , I sleep great. There is a small bar which the bartender Travis is awesome . There is breakfast but you have too pay 8-9 dollars, the first two days it was good but my last day the breakfast was yummy , it was obviously the first two days the cook did not care but today the cook made up for it. Fun vibe

Super cute hotel. Nice things within walking distance. There is entertainment certain nights. But, check your mattress. I found a horrible stain on one of the beds and reported it in the morning just to inform the front desk. He told me that was why the pad was on the bed, to cover the gross stain! The stain is alot darker than shown In the picture. I can't believe that they would be okay with putting a cover up on a stain like that.

Solid amenities

Stayed one night here in the summer when business is slow because UNC students are away and got a good deal on Priceline. A bit hard to find the entrance but no big deal. Front desk staff were helpful and the room was stylish and well appointed. Parking is available in the deck nearby. I will definitely look to stay here again if the opportunity presents itself.

If your type is big, strong and handsome [BUILDINGS!], Full Frame Theater's Boiler Room has YOUR name all over it (him? her?). This incredible space welcomes guests entering Full Frame Theater, as well as sometimes its neighbor, The Power Plant Gallery. It's a VERY unique event venue flanked by mammoth coal-fired boilers that were used in the original building. You can admire the elevator shaft to the right of the front door, or envision the unseen inside (but very visible outside) base of the Lucky Strike smokestack which The Boiler Room "horeshoes" around. Enormous windows, concrete floors and brick walls give this space the perfect impression for any event [can I plan my next birthday party here?!] No space has ever scream contemporary meets historic so clearly! Plus, doors are open 9am-midnight, SEVEN days a week, so there truly is no reason to miss this drool-worthy space. Secret tip: it's air-conditioned and they've got tall-topped tables and chairs inside along the massive windows. This would be the perfect get-away from the office or {indoor} picnic lunch spot.

They even had a alpaca in a top hat - hard to beat that! However, the thing that stood out most was the genuinely caring staff. I'm embarrassed to say I had a little to much to drink that evening but without going into too much graphic detail I will just say that the staff went above and beyond to make sure I got back to my hotel safely. They even drove me back in their own vehicles and made a point to text my fiance in order to check up on me the next day. I would highly recommend this venue for all your event needs, you and your guests will definitely be in great hands.

The "Wedding and Reception" were like a fairytale, more beautiful than words can describe. The lightning made it look magical! I highly recommend Chapel Hill Carriage House. My family thought it was one of the most beautiful weddings they had ever been to and we have had many beautiful weddings at our family home on the Pamilico River! Best regards, Fran

If you ever have the opportunity to attend an event here--don't turn it down!…read more When I was first invited to a wedding here in June, and saw how rustic it was in photos and outdoors, I had grave concerns, but in the end no one got hurt and everyone made it back safely to civilization. The reception area is indoors and a fine place for a party of any type. They serve drinks with Lavender from their farm. They will give you packets of Lavender--it's a real Lavender Farm I will forever have great memories of attending a wedding here. Such a unique place. Some important details you may want to know: 1. Give yourself a minimum of 30 minutes from Chapel Hill to get here--45 minutes during the business week. Slow speed roads, lots of turns, dirt the last section, drive slow. 2. The last 1/2 mile is all dirt gravel--some thick. I had an SUV 4-wheel drive truck rental coincidentally--no problem at all. If I had my personal sports car--PAIN! I may not have gone down the road... If you are flying in for an event here--do yourself a favor and rent a PU Truck or SUV, not a passenger car. If you live here--borrow someones truck--you will thank me. 3. The entire parking lot is gravel--drop everyone off on the reception pavement and one person parks and does the long walk on gravel to the reception--wear appropriate shoes to walk on gravel. I cleaned my shoes for 30 minutes the next day. They have golf carts--if you are concerned about your shoes--ask for golf cart pickup from the parking lot. 4. Men's and women's bathrooms are tiny for a party more than 100 people--get in there when everyone else is not. 5. The outdoor wedding ceremony in June brought tears to my eyes...and sweat to my body--dress appropriately. 6. Spend as much time as you can on the patio outside--it's so pleasant there overlooking the Lavender fields I could sit there every night with a drink. I don't have a review of the food because the food is different for everyone based on budget and who you hire for food provision. I posted some photos of the place, but on the request of the family will not post photos of any attendees, or the wedding couple due to their national celebrity status. I had the opportunity to chat a bit with the owner of Lavender Oaks Farms who is one of the most successful and dynamic entrepreneurs you will meet. Interestingly, she was originally from the Los Angeles area of California but very happy to make a home in North Carolina more than 30 years ago.

There seems to be two interior dining ares (one with an upstairs balcony) plus a patio and then an open grassy area. It looks like they host many wedding receptions and other special events. I won't comment on the food or service since ours was cooked by a guest chef and served by volunteers, but I can say from what I saw, the owners/staff would do a great job with any event.

The cookery looks great from the outside: color mural on its side-wall, fancy metal, grillwork up front along with a cool sign are the only hints of what lies inside. For this charity dinner they had a bunch of long tables set up family-style for a communal dinner. In back the bar was busy and buzzing with action. And the overall space is not huge but comfortable and lit really well. Accent lights on the rough brick walls created a lot of visual texture for the eye. The space is open but still very personal. A landing area at top was unused and a storage area up front near the ceiling housed what looks like brewing equipment for Ponysaurus (?) Overall the Cookery seems like a great space for a corporate or personal event if you don't have a huge headcount. While there isn't much else right around here, the Cookery is worth the drive out if you've got an excuse for a visit...
