I LOVED the lodge itself for my wedding but dealing with the city of Durham Parks and Recreation rentals was a pretty rough experience. First off, it's a pretty far drive to go one of the two days of the month they are actually open, and a pretty irritating drive back if you were told the wrong day. Then we went back on the next day they were open because we were supposed to get measurements of the tables for our party rental company, and the employee that was scheduled to be onsite wasn't there when we got there. I had to call the facilities manager and ask her why a city owned facility wasn't open on one of the only two days of the month it was supposed to be open to the public. I guess there had been a mix-up with communication after an event had been cancelled that morning and the employee assumed that meant they weren't needed for the day. The afternoon employee was right on time for his shift but we were pretty irritated. Not exactly stress any bride needs the month before her wedding day. Second off, I was guaranteed my security deposit back no later than 7 weeks after our event. It's now a month past that deadline and I have called twice only to discover that the first time I updated my address the check was written and mailed to a house on the same street as my old address.. not even the house I used to live at. So hopefully this will be resolved within the next 48 hours. The third bummer was that there is barely any cell service in the area so don't expect to be able to receive phone calls for lost family members. Print out directs for guests ahead of time. The perks of the facility are endless wooded scenery and backdrops for your small family wedding, a reasonable price (if your security deposit ever makes it back to you), a paved driveway and wheelchair access for our grandparents, a complete surround sound speaker system that you can hook an ipod or cell phone up to (we paid someone $100 to be our DJ and created our playlist on itunes), indoor AC, an ice machine, indoor plumbing (a rarity for wooded weddings), plenty of tables to use, a balcony for family portraits and a more than enough space for 50 people to come inside if the weather is bad. We loved our wedding day in the woods. Spruce Pine Lodge will be a great spot to go hiking on our anniversaries but just be forewarned that you need to give yourself plenty of time to visit and map out your wedding on the few trips you can actually make to visit the lodge.

Lots of nature…read more If you are attending with someone who has any special needs, be aware that: 1. the restrooms are difficult to access for someone using a wheelchair or Walker. While there is a ramp to the restroom, the path to it is over uneven grass and pebbles and relatively far from where the party is set up. The pebbles and uneven paths could be made accessible with simple wood decking. The main disappointment is that the facility bills itself as handicapped accessible but it isn't. There is a very real fall risk for handicapped people at this facility. 2. There are only 2 restrooms making for long lines for people of all abilities.

He was extremely patient and answered all my questions thoroughly, and was very punctual with everything he did for us. We held our son's 1st bday celebration here and the space itself is clean and classy and the included black chairs and furniture with black linen, and the sound system, mic, and projector (didn't use) that were included put this place over the top. I was also promptly given back my security deposit as promised. Would recommend to everyone and will def look here first for future parties!

Neutral colors throughout to go with any color scheme. Restrooms are on both sides as well as a water fountain. Nice carpet and tiles. There is a fireplace which adds a nice touch. They also have a podium, projector and screen. Pretty versatile place from my first impression. I didn't set up the event so I can't speak on customer service or pricing. Also the parking lot seemed a little small but there may be more I am unaware of. It's across from Whole Foods/ Luna's Living Kitchen so the bus does run here.

The school I attended as a girl was built in 1931, and this building reminded me a lot of my old school. We were here for a fundraiser (we won tickets through Yelp), and there were about 300 people altogether. The room we were in easily held us all, but there weren't enough tables out for everyone to sit. At the far end is a stage that would be perfect for a band for musical events. There was a small, modern industrial kitchen (definitely not from the 1930s) across the hall from the main room. I know they host a lot of public events, but the Durham Armory would make a fun and different venue for a private event, too.

Chiara is amazing, sweet, and so caring. She made the whole process of planning a wedding during Covid that much easier. I was always able to reach out to her with any questions and never had to wait long for a response. There is not a bad thing I can say about Windy Hill Farm or the family that runs it. The farmhouse that you get ready in has a bridal suite upstairs with its own bathroom. The lighting in bridal suit is PERFECT! You can also stay over night after the wedding and I highly recommend that. The bed was like sleeping on clouds and they made breakfast in the morning that was delicious. I could go on forever talking about this venue, but if you are trying to decide about booking them...DO IT! P.S. If you get married in the spring they might have baby goats :) and who doesn't love baby goats?!?!

The service from the owners family and staff was wonderful, especially young Will who ferried us to the ceremony itself via golf cart. We enjoyed an excellent catered vegan dinner for 102 as the cows and goats sometimes wandered over to take a look. I'd advise buying a few blankets because they were a big hit with the folks seated too far from the heat lamps! Such a beautiful night!

Liz the Catering Manager, with help as needed by Krista, were fantastic, from beginning to end. The venue rental process was clear and easy, and I needed to rent china and utensils and they helped me coordinate that. The venue was ready and set up as requested, and it was clean and well staffed. Honestly, it was perfect! Liz was so helpful with selecting our buffet menu, and the food was amazing. Daniel, the Banquet Captain was the best- he was calm (which kept me calm!), well organized, and had great communication skills- he even made sure I rented everything I needed. He and his wait staff were just great! Highly recommend this venue and the Med!

Our planners, Alli and Faith, were beyond incredible. They supported us for months leading up to the wedding and went above and beyond on the day of. From setting up early and bringing food for the bridal party, to remembering every little detail (like repurposing florals and rolling the cake table onto the dance floor), they were calm, capable, and kind every step of the way. Even when I mentioned I was dehydrated, a bartender brought me a Gatorade minutes later--I'm convinced he ran out and bought it himself. That's the kind of care they all give. Steve and Van are exceptional leaders, and it shows in every staff member. This venue felt like family. I wouldn't dream of having a wedding anywhere else. Highly, highly recommend!

Old school vibes with a modern farm house twist. Some cool art on the walls in our suite for sale which I assume were from local artist. Nice touch and made it feel a little more personal than the average hotel. I only wish there was valet or more than street parking. Felt a little iffy about leaving my car on the street not knowing the town. Staff interaction was minimal but lovely. Easy check in. Highly recommend if you are visiting.

The onsite restaurant was a pleasant bonus. The food and cocktails were amazing and worth a return visit. Each staff member was friendly and appeared to be pleased to serve.
