After doing much research and a bit of soul searching of pool vs no pool, nice room vs ok room we ended up at the Day's inn. The place is clean, and our check in went as expected. Having read previous reviews, we asked for a remodeled room. We stayed on the highway side. The bluff side is quieter but the noise from traffic wasn't bad at all. We had a king non-smoking. The room was clean except for a lipstick on the floor under the desk, which I could easily see missing. Checked the mattress upon entering as I am paranoid. Clean no problems there. The room wasn't perfect. It's a day's inn people, not four seasons. Bed was comfortable. Maid service was good. Refrigerator and microwave in the room. Looks like a fun pool area but it was not open yet. Did not try the food. Family owned and Ron (the GM) really seems to care. A superior value for those who would prefer to spend money on activities and not the hotel room. We stayed for three days and will come back.

The bed and bedroom was perfect and relaxing. The bed was comfy, wonderful linens on it, and more pillows than we knew what to do with. There was a pull out murphy bed in the living room that we lounged on, but we slept in the bedroom. Both beds were comfy. We had the luck to get a room on the 3rd floor facing the back of the hotel - which had a fantastic view - see pictures! The room and balcony both faced the back. We had a two sided fire place that faced the bedroom and the living room. Amazing jet tub in the bathroom that was room for two adults. ;) It was clean, comfortable, quiet, the staff were absolutely wonderful and helpful. The next time we go to Galena, we will absolutely stay here again! I can not recommend enough!

Scrambled eggs, cold link sausages, waffles and the other foods one would expect. We ate at 8:00 a.m., so I don't understand why the food was cold. One bright spot was the cheerful lady at the front desk in the morning. She explained that a part was replaced on the pool the day before and that it would not be open that morning. She apologized for the inconvenience and took a bit off our bill. So if you're looking for a pretty room with a comfy bed and nothing more, you'll love this place!

My husband turned the air off when we first arrived, because it was cold, left for a few hours and it was still freezing in the room. Turned the heat on just to get the chill out, but when we turned it on, there was a bad smell, so we shut that off and I froze all night. 3. No Busch light at the bar because apparently there were construction workers that had stayed for a week and a half and drank it all, then the manager/owner should onto the damn store and get some to replace until they can place another order with the distributor. 4. No biscuits and gravy on the weekend; and why can't there be bacon, my husband likes the biscuits and gravy, I don't, but we both like to have bacon with our breakfast.

We were on the 3rd floor (top floor) and upon walking in, the carpeting was damp as if someone spilled something throughout the whole room and it smelled off. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, we were told it's been raining a lot recently... sure, but inside the hotel room?! They had windows open at the end of the hallway which may not be the best idea if this place is already prone to being damp... we also had a box on the table in the room which ended up with water damage on it when we packed up. The shower water pressure wasn't great but the bed was decent. The breakfast was okay and they had a variety of options, which we appreciated. However, at the end of the day, we didn't feel comfortable in our room and leaving anything on the floor (or even the table apparently).
