Wednesday, 9/25/2024…read more Review #495 - F T T and F T R I live in Macomb Township, which is 25 minutes of a drive, north on M-53 to the Township of Almont. My review is based on my several visits and experiences this year with family members who are residents in Almont. I have enjoyed watching my Great Nephew play different sports in this city such as basketball games indoor at Almont High School, Karate classes, 6 year olds T-Baseball at The Bells Event baseball fields, and currently he plays Flag Football on the Almont High School football field. After the sporting events I have enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at the following restaurants in town: Breakfast - Brunch @ Joe's, Lunch - Maria's Place, Lunch - Country Smoke House, Dinner - Roza's Pizza, A & W, Charlie Browns Ice-Cream, and soon I plan to dine in at their favorite Mexican hot spot called Senor Victors located on Main St. I recently visited The Township of Almont on Saturday 9/21/2024 and attended their annual Heritage Festival & Year #2 a Classic Car Show walking past over 500 vehicles. Photos attached cuz I'm a car buff. I still miss my Chevy Camaro, two tone 1979 Z28, 350 V8. What Great planning credit to Angela Edwards DDA in charge of these days on Friday & Saturday. First, I attended a flag football game at 8am, then breakfast was a delicious chocolate chip waffle, cofffee. Our table was approached by 4 different servers to show how wonderful, friendly and helpful the staff is to each other and customers dining for breakfast and lunch only at Brunch @ Joe's. Charlie Brown's Ice-cream (Review Posted) is a local and cool business owned by a family in Almont. Maria's Place serves homemade soups and thick delicious sandwiches when I dined for lunch. A & W is just outside of town near Charlie Brown's and they serve a traditional favorite, A Frosted Mug of Root Beer or Add Scoops To Enjoy As A Root Beer Float! Their chicken tenders are large pieces with Crispy Breaded to dip in BBQ Sauce and Ranch as I did. Note: Kommunity Kracker Barrel is everyone's go to Liquor Store that carries Craft Beers, Wine, Kegs and misc snacks on Main St Too ! The Heritage Festival was Funtastic & Sunsational especially with my comfort 3,000 steps of walking and viewing classic cars. We stopped in The Village Shirt Company that sell Almont Raiders apparel, hats and other items to show support of the Township of Almont. The Heritage Festival had many sponsors (Photo Sign Attached) of their businesses plus residents, Almont Lions Club that support their community. This year there were several Food Trucks to satisfy quick hungry appetites ! The festival was very organized, safe and family oriented thanks to Angela Edwards Director of DDA. Brief History: Almont Settlement can be traced back to 1827 with dirt roads then the Village was was created in 1836 with store, school, hotel and a blacksmith and shoe shop. Then in 1855 the community settled in the county of Lapeer with a lumbering industry. The first electric streetcar from Detroit reached Almont in 1914 which brought electricity with it to serve the Township of Almont with electric power then later it was extended to Imlay City. Population in 2022 was 3,000 Current estimate in 2024 is 9,000 The Township is linked to southeast Michigan region of M-53 in route to Port Austin and I-69 which is linked to Port Huron. Click on more History and Village of Almont: www.almont.michigan.gov. The Township of Almont is served by three school districts, Almont, Dryden and Imlay City, Almont has a Primary Building for grade school, Middle School and High School with close to a total of 9,000 residents living in this historical city. I spoke with the clerk's office assistant Jennie on Monday this week to assist in my review with history, facts plus accuracy. Their Address: 819 North Main St. Almont, MI. 48003 Office Hours: Monday - Thursday 8 AM - 2 PM Phone (810) 798-8521 Elections are also held at this address according to Clerk. Please enjoy the photos that I have attached for The Township of Almont with business information and the places that I have visited. My favorite so far was the annual September event: The Heritage Festival & Classic Car Show! I'm looking forward to visit and attend their Halloween Festivities in October as well ! Stop I'm at Blake's Backyard Almont at 5600 Van Dyke that is family-friendly and open Year-Round. Also Winter Activities! SpecialK Karen N. :-) Helper Yelper

As a social worker I spend a lot of time going in and out of Detroit public schools. I see some…read morethings that really make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. And then, occassionally, I see a few gems. This school is one of those gems. UPA and University Prep High School both use project-based learning so that kids can really focus on the things that interest them. All students do regular internships which are supervised by a local field instructor and a teacher (they get school credit for the internship). This gives them a chance to refine their interests and get exposed to the work world. But, a few things to note. UPA is a bit overrated in terms of it's academic rigor. Although it is a world above most of the DPS schools I visit, not all graduates are going to be prepared to start at a mid-range or top tier university. I've seen kids advanced from grade to grade (particularly in math) who really don't have the basics down well enough. And, another important thing to remember about UPA is that their teaching approach does not work for all students. Some kids need a lot more structure and will flounder when given so much academic freedom and responsibility for their own education. Parents of UPA students need to stay in close contact with the teachers and review their student's work on a very regular basis. Overall, this is a great school. The campus is well laid out, the rooms are clean and things are in repair. There's not a lot of violence. The teachers and staff are very good at communicating with parents and they take a personal interest in their students.

I think its good for the city. Nice looking charter school. We went to take my god daughter b-day…read morecupcakes. You sign in and have to call to confirm. They require the kids to do an expedition project every month which is a good thing for kids to do in my opinion helps them to discover something new. You have to stand in a long line of cars just to pick up your kid but that's better than leting them run around and risk someone taking them. Great School Donate today!!!
