They were hands down everything we wanted for our children. OCS has a wonderful parent/teacher and parent/administration relationship. We are so pleased with the concern and care that is taken with each child and their gifts, abilities and needs. We love the family involvement that is created, without pressure, but by far beneficial. There is a concern to not just build great students, but great families as well. There is nothing more reassuing than knowing that our kids are being loved on and taught by ones who truly love our Savior and who desire our kids to know and love Him as well. OCS has an amazingly gifted staff which provides opportunities for the students that go beyond just every day learning. Education is more than just academics, OCS, by God's great provision is producing, wonderful students on academic, spiritual, athletic, musical and technological levels. We consider it a privilege to be a part!

I reported her to the principal of that school, that person did absolutely nothing and tried to justify why a teacher would put their hands on a child. Sense that didn't get me any where I reported it to the superintendents office, I was on the phone with them for over an hour expressing how upset I was over the issues and fully expected something to be done about these issues. fast forward 2 weeks i get a call from a counselor from the school who PRETENDED to care and pretended to act like she was going to implement a communication thread between my child's teacher her and my self. Which shocker didn't happen, I received 2 emails from his teacher one on April 2nd and the other April 3rd which BOTH said he was doing better and doing well in class. After that not a word from anyone, not his teacher, not the counselor or the principal, The communication from this school is horrid! Not only did all that happened the Same teacher FALSIFIED a CPS report saying she witnessed me HIT my child, let me get 2 things clear i do NOT use physical punishments not only so NOT slap my child I DONT EVEN SPANK MY CHILD, THIS is RETALIATION to me reporting their school!!!!!!!!!! which I showed proof of to the case worker i spoke with!!!! with that being said if you can please avoid sending your children to this school.

Let's just say he has a bit of an extra challenge. But I can't even express the power of amazing teachers!! Every single one of his teachers this year fostered his confidence. He's a shy child but, his teachers told me he was a top participant in his classes. They encouraged him and praised him and also assisted him to use his skills in unique ways. For example, an art project for my son is daunting. He gets very stressed. He doesn't have the coordination to cut and paste or anything intricate. His teacher worked with him and allowed him to use his computer skills instead. So he was producing videos and power point presentations in place of some of the assigned work. This entire year, I knew his teachers cared about him, and his grades and wellbeing. I am sure this is also a reflection of great leadership on the administration side of things as well! Nate went from struggling last year in virtual school to shining brightly! With his math and science teachers' encouragement he applied, and was accepted, into Utica's Center for Math Science and Technology! He also managed to get on the all A honor roll! Thank a teacher! They can make an enormous difference in your child's confidence! I can't believe I have a Freshman now!

This school is as exceptional, as the rest in the district. When we sold our house back in April, our number 1 criteria for finding a new house was that it HAD to be in the Utica district. We bought a house in Slate August, just days before the start of the new year- and it WAS in the Utica district. So close to our old house that our kids did not even have to switch school. The teachers are amazing and willing to help and go above and beyond 110%! They are willing to meet at your convenience- if you ever need to talk or if you see your child struggling. The inside of the schools are always immaculate- even if there is 100s of kids spending 8 hours plus inside. I can't say enough good things about Utica Community Schools. I'm so pleased with the education my kids are receiving!

Rochester high school is contracted with ABM custodial cleaning company. This high school is the…read moremost messy school ever. It's filled with dust and the kids are always messy. Especially the athletic section. The students are still there until like 9 PM or 10 p.m. And my shift ends at 11 PM. The principles are asshats. They would complain about literally about everything. Even when it's summer break, they would try to fire part-time custodians, because didn't like the "way how they clean".

I've read a few of these poor reviews and I am shocked as I have never experienced a better…read morelearning environment where all of the kids want to come to school and learn. I have never observed chaos or poor classroom management and the teachers are nothing less than dedicated to student success. I would hate to see someone pass up this school based on a few bad apples that are trying to degrade the school. Like other entity reviews, it is usually only the complainers that take the time to write a review. Come interview 99% of the students and parents and you will hear nothing but rave reviews.

Test scores are poor, many teachers struggle with classroom management and kids with behavior issues are left in the classroom to disrupt 20 other students, rather than being sent to the office, which means 21 kids aren't learning. Definitely not the school it was 2, 3, 4 years ago. Many unsatisfied families are leaving after the 2021-2022 school year to seek better educations for their children.
