There have been many days and times our children were being bullied at this school and the school…read morewas notified and did nothing over a 2 month time frame .then as a parent to our children if you spoke up about it they would prevent you from being on the campus and events Also our children at an age of 8 could not even read a simple sentence This has drastically effected our children to be able to attend a regular school they are so behind they will not need a special tutor and school to get them up to today's standards for school Please do not send your children there do not even think about it It will be detrimental to your children and hurt there learning for the rest of there life

Do not send your child here…read more While Waldorf education in principle, should embrace the whole child, and should include the child's academic learning and guidance thereof, this school fails. Our current experience at this public Waldorf school has been lackluster (with both children, one who has already graduated and was there for 5+ years). Upon graduating from this school, our oldest could not write a simple essay as an 8th grader, because it was a skill that was not practiced or emphasized. This caused lack of preparation for high school. Our current child's 6th grade teacher is a nice human being, but a lackluster teacher: besides often making grammatical typos in her online parent posts, and misusing the posessive apostrophe, she also seems to not understand that she is the guide and leader of the classroom: not the children. She is new to Waldorf as an educational style, so there is a learning curve, but she seems unable to control and moderate the noise levels in her classroom, for example, which causes children to not be able to focus on their work and causes them to fall behind. She allows students to choose to draw and do other NONclass tasks during class (instead of expecting and guiding students to focus and complete their classwork IN class). This then results in children falling behind grossly and having to cram their work in at home, unnecessarily causing stress. The teacher does not grade or "assess" in a manner that educators typically do- it is questionable if she actually looks at their in class work to determine if the class is following her lessons. This means she does not see whether the students are comprehending the math lessons, for example (so without an assessment metric, students easily fall behind without anyone noticing, since the assigned homework sent home is very cursory and remedial, and the end-of-unit assessment can easily be failed by a student and then she moves on). Why a student and class is allowed to fumble through a unit and it is only noted at the end of the unit, is a mystery. The academic portion of learning at this public Waldorf school is disappointing at best and underemphasized grossly (in our experience), and to us this feels like a disservice to the brightness and potential of the students. Our child used to love math and now hates math- because she is lost in it. We have had our children in both public and private Waldorf, for comparison- and have friends at Waldorf schools elsewhere. When we describe the lack of academic focus and lack of expectations and lack of assessment by our child's teacher at this Waldorf school- it is very much NOT in line with Waldorf philosophy elsewhere, and seems to not serve the students well. Our eldest child had a similar experience here- and as a warning, due to "looping", the same teacher stays or loops with the students from, say, grade 3-8. Do not send your child here.

Public Elementary school in Orangevale CA…read more My niece and nephews go to school here. Their parents, business owners were offered and purchased a booth for the school Fall festival on 9/22/2022. I was recruited to help with the booth. Green Oaks consistently maintains the highest API in the San Juan Unified school district. Their 5th graders even had the highest science STAR scores in Sacramento county last year. The learning is there, and students are challenged with enriching activities. When you walk around campus you see kids who are respectful toward one another and who follow the rules. Great after school programs like Choir, Dance (taught by a former Kings dancer) and piano are offered for a nominal fee. Before school, the school offers band to 4th-6th graders for free. The teachers are experienced and teach what works. They know their stuff and the kids love each and every one of them. The kids are happy, the teachers love to be there, and parents feel safe leaving their kids for the day. It's an amazing school, in a massive school district, and it's performing above the rest.

Her Kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Broaddus and the teacher's helper was Miss Amy, who is probably the sweetest woman you'll ever meet! Instead of the usual school supply list, we were asked to bring donations for the classroom. For school lunch she was given the option of a school lunch or to bring her own and we love packing her lunch! Her class of 26 students had so many fun themed days, our daughter's favorite, jammie and stuffed animal day! Always lots of art work brought home and I have them to thank for helping our daughter make so many great friends, encouraging her to read, count and write! And of course you cannot forget music time, PE, recess and free time! They even went on a field trip to the Sacramento Zoo! You cannot give less than 5 stars for schools who are giving your child the gift of an education! Yesterday was the last day of school and we're so proud of our soon to be first grader! Moms reading I hope your children have a great summer vacation and we'll see you in August!

I thought it was just me but now it's been almost two years since I left and from talking to friends I now know that he did it to them, too. I'd HIGHLY recommend Visions in Education if you're looking for a home school, but if you want to go to options get any other teacher except Artin. Whether you're behind on credits, disconnected from school, want to graduate early, need to tend to responsibilities outside of school, or simply desire a non-traditional learning environment, OFY's dedicated staff want to help you reach your academic goals. We believe the student-teacher relationship is critical to the development of a young person's social, emotional, and academic well-being. When you visit one of our centers, you'll find students working one-on-one with highly qualified, passionate teachers and advisors. OFY also offers students the opportunity to engage in a variety of learning styles, creating what we call a 'blended' learning model. This innovative approach to education allows students to learn with great flexibility through: independent study, small group (SGI) classes, online courses, single-subject tutoring, and hands-on experiential activities, trips, and cultural excursions. Many OFY schools are Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) partners. From enrollment to graduation, these partnerships empower OFY students to prepare for success in today's economy through career exposure, networking events, college and career entry planning, critical skill building, and certificate and internship opportunities.
