Pros: You can truly call this place fast food, everything is pre cooked and they assemble their dishes with a quick swiftness, perfect if you have to rush back to class or work. I had the falafel, the tabouli salad, and the yogurt salad. The falafel was delicious, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the flavor was perfect, I very much enjoyed the coriander. The salads also had good flavor. Cons: The yogurt salad was a little watery for my taste, but the flavor was delicious. I prefer a thicker yogurt salad. Literally everything here is great. This is not a joke, I have tried almost everything on the menu and it's straight fire . The falafel and kibbeh can use more sauce on the side but other than that, it's my favorite place on campus. Oh and the guys there are cool. They may seem kinda quiet but that's just how they are. Decent food for on-campus dining at FIU in the GC building. I recommend the falafel wrap, and ask for half hummus and half babaganoush for the wrap. The grape leaves are good as well. You can request that they add spicy sauce in the wrap to add some heat. read more

I am giving this rating based on the fact that this is campus food, and in comparison to most options on campus, this is one of the better places to go. I frequent FIU for work, and it's always a struggle when it comes to lunchtime because I am a vegetarian, and I don't eat fast food. With that stated, I stick to my 3 items here and am always satisfied. I happen to like their lentil soup, and I always ask for the pita chips with it. That's a little secret that I didn't know about until I saw someone else ask for them, as they don't display the chips on the menu. Their hummus isn't bad, although the pita bread could use some improvement. I've also had the falafel sandwich (pita wrap) many times which is pretty good as well. The guys who run the place are always friendly and quick. Again, when you are eating on campus you have to lower your standards a bit, but if you aren't a fan of Burger King, pollo tropical, Subway, and the other usual fast food chains, this might be a better option for you. read more

Based on other reviews it would seem that there are certain things on this menu that should be avoided altogether. I must say I enjoyed my meal on Friday. I had the shwarma sandwich which was beef (a bit on the dry side) in more of a wrap style. Not a tortilla, not quite a flatbread or pita. Maybe more like lavash? I did like whatever was on the inside of the sandwich. It had a fresh flavor and the right amount of sauce. I also had the almond rice which I thought was delicious, and an order of hummus which was just okay. It came with the same lavash-type bread as the sandwich which dried out pretty quickly and was not enough to scoop up the quantity of hummus they give you. Wish they had a better pita option. But all in all, Alamazar has officially made my list of acceptable on campus eating options at FIU. read more

Slapped the pita bread on the counter and smashed the three falafel in the pita bread Did not ask what I wanted in my falafel just started throwing everything in pita bread. I found it hard to believe at first, but FIU is definitely up and coming! It is so up and coming that I am starting to discover a wide variety of eateries that I had never seen before. It is probably because I never venture off an explore FIU besides in the classroom, but FIU's dining services are definitely stepping it up to meet your every culinary desire. Middle Eastern, Mexican, Pollo... Tropical, you name it they got it. So if you are craving some Middle Eastern and Greek Food, there is a place located at the Graham Center called Almazar which offers some oily yet traditional cuisine. The food at Almazar can be described by one noise: Myeehhh! It isn't a bad sound, but a sound that should be given to should no extreme pleasure or hatred. The food here was "myeehhh!" I wanted a salad, and they did have salad, but it tasted oily. Not my idea of a healthy platter. I ordered my salad as part of the kafta kabab platter, and my kafta (or piece of beef) was thick and tasty. It was shaped like a thick tube and definitely met my liking. It wasn't too salty and was just right. The hummus which also came with my meal was also a bit oily, and the pita bread was very crisp. Seriously, myeeehhh! Everything on my platter tasted good, but some items could have been less oily. If you are looking to eat at the food court, the food court is usually crowded around lunch time, so make sure you will be able to grab a seat, or you may just have to run and go. I always get the chicken sandwich which comes out to be $7 and it is the perfect portion that will leave you feeling satisfied but not sluggish. Almazar is my go-to whenever I venture down to FIU main! It's located inside the Graham Center (GC) main food court right next to the always-packed-by-Latins Pollo Tropical. When I used to work at this location, I was here almost everyday. When I'm in a hurry, the falafel or shwarma pita sandwich does the trick as it's easy to walk and eat. If I'm feeling "all-in" I order the platter that comes with a delicious, fresh tossed salad seasoned with sumac, a side of hummus, kebab or falafel or kibbe, pita flatbread, and always ask for a double order of the extra, spicy, whipped garlic spread! The food is consistently fresh , flavorful, and the service is courteous and professional. It was okay. I wanted something that would be somewhat healthy and fast. I got the chicken sandwich, which was grill chicken in a pita bread with salad and dressing. The chicken was dry and the salad wasn't really fresh. It was really a no big deal. I'll give them a try again maybe with another option. read more

Loved it ! This is my favorite spot at the food court. I was a bit scared to try it because i don't know what half of the menu is but I absolutely loved every bite. I got the falafel platter because it was the cheapest thing on the menu that included the salad and the hummus. It was fantastic! The salad was really fresh, and the hummus was super yummy. I read the previous reviews about the food being too oily and well i think it's supposed to. You do use olive oil for salad and for the hummus, I did have it but it wasn't drenched. Overall such a great yummy experience and it's a pretty good healthy alternative to pollo tropical. Plus no line so that's great if you're in a hurry. read more

This location is on the south or MMC FIU Campus. Every now and then I get a craving for falafel and I trek across campus to this little walk-up restaurant within the Graham Center. I order the falafel platter which comes with half a pita, 3 falafel, hummus and salad. I usually ask to have a split salad, half tabbouleh, and half house salad. If I'm feeling greedy I will add a baklava for dessert. I give 3 stars because the last couple times that I've visited my falafel has been lukewarm; that and this meal being over $11 is just not that great of a deal to me. read more
