This place literally blows your expectations out of the water! My wife & I added Ally Cat into our wedding celebration as a substitution to a rehearsal dinner on the 4 hour Fat Cat day trip. The Fat Cat has room for about 120 people but we had about 40 which was perfect for people to be able to walk around, get a drink with no line, and have some breathing room. I thought it would just be something like breakfast pastries, open bar, lunch, and everyone can get in the water, but the experience was so much more than that. Getting on board, my wife & I got on board last and everyone already had a drink to toast to us, we saw whales in the first 30 minutes up close, got a detailed explanation of whales and their communication patterns, and throughout the whole trip the crew had spontaneous activities that are better left to be discovered as a surprise. The Crew made the trip! They had so much energy, enthusiasm, and attentiveness to everyone on board. Everyone had a drink pretty much at all times, and we had a solid hour plus in the water. Food was great and if you're celebrating something other than a wedding, I'm sure the crew will sprinkle in more fitting activities to go with the event in mind. A must do trip! My parter and I went aboard the Fat Cat catamaran and it was the highlight of our trip. The crew (Edwin, Victor, Javi, Francisco, Danny, etc) made this the best day ever. Their energy was infectious. Transportation was provided from Sayulita, and we were greeted with mimosas and smoothies + fresh fruit and quesadillas. We then went to Marieta Islands and had some time to explore + snorkel. After that lunch was provided and it was delicious. If you don't drink alcohol they didn't force it on you, but lets just say that if you do drink alcohol you will never have an empty glass. They played music and everyone danced. We saw at least 15 whale sightings and later got to jump in the water and hang out for a bit on a floating island (with bottle service). For 100 USD you get way more than you pay for. Wow, came highly recommended from locals and did not disappoint. Our family has been doing tropical boat trips on our vacations for the last decade and this was our favorite by far. The crew was amazing, food was great and ride was amazing. We saw literally dozens of whales many were breaching on our trip to the Marietas Islands. The best excursion of my trip to Sayulita was absolutely going on a whale watching tour with the add-on special trip to the pocket beach in the Marietta islands. It's the priciest thing we did on the trip, and worth every penny. If you love whales (or just seeing the ocean! or just having fun on a boat!) this is for you. Every single member of the crew was personable, helpful, and overall fantastic. Their staff is the best. The snack and lunch were yummy and the portions were bigger than we could handle. Although I don't recommend taking advantage of it too early, the open bar is nice. When I was indecisive, the bartender mixed me a personal cocktail based on what I told him I liked. They also play a variety of fun music on the boat- country, dad rock, pop, latin, anything you can dance to. Even if you don't care about seeing nature, you'll have a great time. The best part was being out on the water and in nature. The water is perfectly clear for snorkeling and they provide everything you need. We went out in March and the water was still a little chilly, but you get used to it. We saw over a dozen whales, including several babies, exhibiting all kinds of behavior. We also saw jellyfish, dolphins, a manta ray, and all kinds of fish and live coral. I recommend bringing a waterproof pouch for your phone so you can take great photos. Booked a private charter for 16 of us for our friend's birthday, and had an absolutely amazing time! The catamaran is wonderful and so comfortable, lots of cushy places to sit, the trampolines up front, bean bags and pillows. But the staff really made the trip. They were so over-the-top friendly. Always asking if they could get us anything, bringing us drinks, playing great music, and dancing with us! Big shout out to our bartender Pablo (who was been with Ally Cat 14 years!), mates Julio and Alberto, and Captain Pancho! We went snorkeling, jumped off the high dive platform, took out the paddle boards, and lounged on the lily pad, They served a light breakfast, snacks of chips, salsa and fresh guacamole, and delicious lunch buffet of chicken tacos, rice and beans, plus plenty of drinks all day. Ally Cat provided our group with the most amazing catamaran experience. This was absolutely one of the major highlights of our trip. Our group of 30+ people rented the catamaran for the day. We left from Sayulita via shuttle and got to the dock within 10-15 minutes. The boat was beautiful and the staff was amazing from start to finish. They whipped up drinks, served lunch and dessert from their mini kitchen, and coordinated our excursion to Punta Mita and the Marieta islands. All of this was done to perfection. We had such a blast and the staff was so much fun to be around. We were also able to dive and use their Lily Pad. Super cool experience. Just a note - if you venture out to the Marieta islands, you won't be able to drink so they stop serving alcohol while you're there. We even had the local police join our boat at that time to make sure no one was drinking. Kinda extra of them, but kinda funny. read more

What an amazing experience. We chartered one of their boats for our amazing and could not have been happier with the experience. Hermando, Captain Panchito, and Chef Muy were incredible. Great service and felt like friends at the end of the day. Ally Cat arranged transportation to the boat from the house we were renting and back home. I don't eat meet, so they cooked us A LOT of fish. There was food constantly. They even got us a cake for our anniversary. We saw whale after whale after whale. It was insane. Then we went to the Marietta Islands, where we got to walk on the beach, see a blow hole, and snorkel. It was beautiful. On the way back, more whales. Then we anchored and they brought out the toys- a high dive, a lily pad, kayaks, paddle boards. It was endless. Once we had enough of that, they took us sailing. So tranquil. Not only was this the highlight of our trip to see the beautiful islands but we were blown away by how awesome fun and professional the crew were! You'll be touring around on a luxury boat sipping margaritas with fresh guacamole and playing in the water- they bring out all the toys too! Remember your biodegradable sunblock to protect the reef while you play in the beautiful waters :) unfortunately, my boyfriend's iphone fell in the water and miraculously the crew found it! The cruise started with fruit and cakes for breakfast, 1.5 hours trip to the blue footed boobie sanctuary (only here and the Galapagos), followed by a snorkeling trip. Lunch was chicken fajitas, very good, the open bar was great, as the crew keep filling up the glasses without asking :). Then came the jumps and the drag net! Overall, the trip exceeded my expectations, and I liked the fact that the crew clearly explained the safety rules and helped everyone to follow them. We did a day cruise to the Mariettas islands. They fed us well (we just had to tell the crew we are vegan), they taught us dance lessons and made an absolute dance party. My husband and I got married in Sayulita in 2018 and went on the Fat Cat for our welcome party with 115 friends and family members. We still joke that this was the best day of both of our lives with the wedding second on the list. We had so much fun that we decided to come back for our five year anniversary with whatever friends and family wanted to join. Last week we went out on the Fat Cat with 40 in total and the crew totally exceeded expectations yet again! We'll definitely be returning every five years if for no other reason than to party with these people again. The crew made sure we were all safe and comfortable but also that we were never lacking in anything we needed, including beverages. At one point, my friend and I were on a floaty at our stop and she wanted a pina colada. I kid you not, one of the crew made her one and swam it out to her without spilling a drop. I rarely if ever post reviews, but in this case I have to. I've done tours all over and this one was one of the best I've ever taken. From the moment we got on the boat our hosts were friendly, professional, and served our every need. The tour was on the original Ally Cat Sailboat out to Las Islas Marietas. There were about 25 people on the tour and everyone had a great time. We spent the day learning about the wildlife, going into beaches, playing in the water, and non-stop food (nachos, quesadillas, fajitas) and bottomless drinks. And at no time did the crew up sell or try to charge additional for anything. I had so much fun I actually thought about seeing if there was another available spot tomorrow! I took a four-day trip to Sayulita with a bunch of friends for Melissa K.'s birthday, and we played everything by ear except for a daytime excursion with Ally Cat [sic--though if you're looking to have some fun, this cat is your ally!]. This required advance planning and prepayment, but it was completely worth it. It was a definite highlight of our vacation, and I'd recommend booking a trip if you're headed to Sayulita. Melissa took care of all the details, but it seems booking wasn't too complicated, and the trip cost us a little over $100 a head, including tip. We went out on a Friday, and I guess they don't always run on Fridays, but since we were a big group, they made a slot for us. Once that happened, they were able to fill the boat, and we went out with a group of about 25 people--our California crew, another big party from Kansas, and a few others. My friend June K. had gone on a prior visit, and she recommended Ally Cat with enthusiasm, even though she'd been so hung over that her enjoyment was heavily tainted with misery. Learning from her mistakes, we took it easy on Thursday night and got up in time to meet the bus at Ally Cat's storefront at 8:30 in the morning. The bus was late, but we still got to the water bright and early--but not so early that we couldn't start drinking right away. We went out on a catamaran and spent almost the whole day at sea, getting back in at around 3:30 in the afternoon. The boat was nice, clean and pretty and spacious, with plenty of places to sit and lay out and tan. The inside held the bar and some seating and the bathrooms, but we spent most of our time on deck, enjoying the sun and water. There was a healthy mix of activities programmed into the day, but they weren't so thickly scheduled that they felt anything but relaxing. We dove and snorkeled; we swam behind the boat, enjoying the pull of its wake while we hung onto a tug rope or a net. The main destination was a little beach on the Marieta Islands. Beautiful sights, blue water, and a strong tide--June and I got a bit swept away, and had to get rescued by Sergio, our hero on the boat. The crew was amazing. They really made the trip feel safe and thoroughly enjoyable. Bouy was a sort of guide/emcee who seemed to manage both us and the crew and make sure things went smoothly. He kept everyone entertained with his incredibly sunny attitude and high-skilled booty-shaking dance moves. Sergio was a great excursion guide/rescuer, and Pancho, Panchito, and Jorge helped with everything else, including running the boat and other important stuff like that. Moy made the drinks, so he was pretty clutch--I had some excellent margaritas on this trip, as well as some good cold beers and a few dizzying shots. We had lunch on board, and this was great, too, a buffet of chicken, vegetables, beans, and rice, everything perfectly tasty. There were fruit and pastries for breakfast. I had some pineapple and melon before I started drinking. Am pretty glad and surprised that none of us got sick. After the islands, we turned around and Bouy turned up the music and led a straight-up dance party. He did his best to play music that would please both our group and the white middle-aged tourists from Kansas. My friends wanted Bieber; the Kansans lost their minds over Mambo No. 5. We all had a great time, though. There was a birthday song for Mel, and a fun little wedding ceremony for the Kansan couple celebrating their 10th anniversary; there were sashes and cheesy hats. We marched around the boat and one of the crew members poured tequila down our throats. Our Ally Cat experience took up a whole day of our trip, but it was completely worthwhile. We ate and drank well, and partied like corny American tourists, with bikinis and tequila, music and sea spray and sunshine. I'd recommend this company to anyone coming through Sayulita; if I make it back to the area, I'll happily go again. read more

We had the most fun time on the Fat Cat tour! The crew was wonderful, always making sure we were okay or if we needed another drink :) They got everyone of the boat dancing, and they provided a great tour of the islands with knowledgeable information on its restoration as well as the animals that lived on it.
