Amazing show again. Great food! Awesome service. We had pirate Dany tonight and he was also amazing. The whole trip, all the pirates, the ship is a must for all!

Boarding the Marigalante from the Terminal Maritime.
Loren B.

Staged on a replica of the historical pirate ship Marigalante (or the Santa Maria that sailed with Columbus, depending on your source) built with rewarding attention to detail by the "Mar, Hombre y Paz" civil association between 1980 and 1987, this experience booked through Vallarta Adventures is a swashbuckling fun experience with mediocre food and a bit of over-entertain that is nonetheless enjoyable and accessible to both English and Spanish speakers. It just sounds like a ton of fun, doesn't it? We booked this tour through the Vallarta adventures website a few weeks in advance at a 30% discount. We were a little ambitious planning it for the night we arrived in the Romantic Zone. The Terminal Maritima was a 25 minute Uber from where we were staying. But, we arrived in plenty of time. Boarding the boat was a little more involved than we expected. The maritime terminal is subject to Mexican Federal law, being a port I suppose. It was the only place we saw soldiers in full tactical gear with automatic weapons and drug sniffing dogs. A little intimidating and heavy handed for a vacation tour! Once on the boat, the pirates kept us entertained while our "personal pirate" took drink orders for the twenty or so people in our group. The drinks are not large or strong, but they keep them coming. The show was more like a bar band with lots of audience participation that became a little tedious to us after a while. But, most everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Dinner took place below deck in a large galley with another live band. We enjoyed talking with other travelers. Servers wore masks and using hand sanitizer was required on entry. In hindsight, if you are concerned about the Delta variant, I'd say this was a bit higher risk environment for it than in the open-air above deck. The food was rather bland (we had steak & shrimp). But, they brought as much wine as we asked for. After dinner we were free to roam the deck of the ship. I especially liked the bow, enjoying the sunset from there. We were re-seated and served more drinks as the show continued. This time, the theme was "pick three women from the group who will 'prove they are pirates' by doing a sexy dance then breaking a balloon with pelvic thrusts against their partner". If you have an ounce of feminism, this will not play well. I'm dropping a star for this, the bland food, and the potential Delta risk below decks in an otherwise raucously fun experience. Our pirate Alligator provided excellent service, working hard running food and drinks all night. He was even in the show! Towards the end of the voyage, some fireworks were part of the show which was pretty cool. The boat was back in port between 10:30 and 11pm. Recommended with the caveats mentioned above.

Fun excursion. You need to make a reservation online, and then head over to the Pirate of the Bay store to check in. There is a check in window in the far back corner of the store, they also have staff out in front that will assist and guide you. There is also some water and coffee while you wait, and some fun souvenirs for you to buy and kids to look at while waiting. They will exchange your reservation for actual tickets (that I don't think I really used at all throughout the trip) and then you head over to the store cashier to purchase port fees ($30 pesos per person, eight and over I believe). Be sure to get the child port fee tickets too, they are free. And then head for the exit, and the guy with a book will confirm your dinner selection and give you a bracelet for your meal, and an additional one if you chose the premium option. Once that's done, you just hang around until your pirate leads you through port security over to the ship, which is another short walk. You'll head onto the boat, take a photo (option to purchase at the end for $10 usd) and wait around until dining room is ready for breakfast. We picked both the american and mexican breakfast, they'll offer you something to drink and some apples. The food was just okay, you're probably pretty hungry by then, so just eat it. Next time I'd probably eat breakfast elsewhere before coming to be honest. Once you're back above deck with everyone else, they'll start with some instructions and a little get to know each other fun exercises, some dances and fun events with the kids. Once that's all done, they'll ask you to use the restroom if needed, and then stay seated for the performance, which was pretty fun. They also speak in both Spanish and English, so don't worry if you no hablas espanol. After the show, they'll ask you to get ready for getting onto another small boat to take you to the island, and a separate group that wants to go snorkeling. This part felt a little bit rushed. They recommend bringing as little things and non-essential things as possible, since you'll likely get wet on the way there to the beach or as you're getting off, or on the boat after. There are not bathroom on the beach, so you'll want to do anything you need to beforehand, or else they'll have to boat you back to the ship and then boat you back to the beach after. So, pretty hectic to say the least. We made the mistake of not being in our swim gear already, and the restrooms was pretty cramped for changing clothes. So make sure you get all your attire ready preferable BEFORE boarding the ship. Once on the beach, it was pretty relaxing. They give you 3 chairs and an umbrella per group, and will serve you whatever drink or alcohol you want. (Open bar!). They also mentioned having motion sickness pills if you need them, and to take them about 15 min before getting back onto the ship. They have a little station with some sand toys and snacks for purchase. If you don't have cash with you, they can put it on the tab and charge you after you get onto the ship. They also ran a banana boat a few times, so make sure you watch out for that and line up for it. Around midway through, the 'pirate captain' will start a treasure hunt with the kids, which is a fun little event and gets them running up and down the beach. After about 2 hours or so, you'll start heading back to the ship in groups. You can stay back and try to board the ship as the last group if you want, since the ship gets pretty rocky. I wasn't feeling too well after getting on the ship. Probably from seasickness. So I wasn't able to really enjoy the rest of the shows or lunch. We got both the surf and turf, and the lobster. Surf and turf was okay, but the lobster was kind of mushy and rubbery at the same time. Didn't taste fresh and certainly not the lobster I was used to on the US East coast. I probably wouldn't spend the extra for the premium options next time. After lunch, they have a few more fun events and contests as we rock our way back into port. All in all, fun event, food can be better, and better instructions beforehand can be better. Small things that would make this a more fun experience for the customers!

If you want a full day of adventure that is great for kids I'd suggest this. Entertaining an hard working staff

Very family oriented would do again. Uplifting and energetic staff that made it welcoming and fun. Always ready to serve my hat is off to the staff.

Santiago and Cooper
lorenzo s.

Fun time met some good people the pirate "flash" really paid attention to his group and let my son Cooper and his friend Santiago use his prop pistols the entire day. Anytime anyone needed a drink he was on it. The beach we stopped at was clean and plenty of fish swimming around close to shore. Long day but still fun especially for the kids.

Recommended to us as an activity good for younger ones. It is NOT good for small/young kids. We were told to be there at 5:45...way before you even see the ship. So much hassle. 1. Make reservations. 2. 5:45 Get to location and exchange reservation slip for tickets. Then person #3 takes $ for port fee. Then person #4 takes your food order. Person #5 puts your wrist band on and has you wait (now 6:30) for #6 to walk you to ship but he instead leaves you in cruise port for an hour while you wait to board. Just so happens there are several "shops" you are invited into to spend your pesos. Now I'm mine to walk thru security. (Now 7:30) finally on ship and the pirates are singing out of sync with no actual words but "hey, hey, hey, yo,yo,yo" and yelling in the microphone so, so very loud. Pirates bring audience up to dance and play games and it verges on the line of vulgar because most adults on board are drunk and don't care that this is supposed to be "family friendly". It was A LOT. Now kids are tired, hungry, embarrassed, cranky and bored. Dinner at 8:30, back up top by 9:00 and then 2 more hours before pulling back into port at 11pm. Coolest part of night was the pirates who were thrown overboard(where did they go!?) the young lady that played the skeleton was AMAZING. BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT!) I recommend only if you have a lot of patience; checking in is the worst.

We did the pirate land show. It was amazing! We had our 3 and 7 year old with us and they loved every minute. The ship is awesome. You go down below to amazing pirate decor for breakfast and lunch. The food was good and open bar on the way back! On the way to Mahajuitas and back, there is a pirate show, contests, games, and dancing. You are given a personal pirate who caters to you the entire day. He/she always makes sure you have a drink in your hand. Every single pirate was awesome with the children. When you get to the island, there are water sports like kayaks, snorkeling, ride on a banana boat, swim, treasure hunt, beach volleyball, soccer, and chairs. Open bar at the island too.

It was a great night!!! Skull was our Pirate and he took very good care of us and my 80 yr old mom did all those stairs and all the stuff with his help!!! Thank you Skull.....the food was Phenomenal seriously we all had different entrees and everyone said how great theirs was!!!! The show in my eyes was a little loooonnng but it was 11pm and I had had a full day along with a FULL 10 days vaca I could have just been on my last leg....our younger folks wanted to party all night, I slept on 20 min ride home and have just woke after 10hours sleep but this morning I'm trying to figure out where are the pics we took entering the ship???? I bought all the pics they took with birds in terminal but I was across the street at the shops so I'm not in it I did get on boat with my party if 5....where might that pic be available to purchase or download!?! HELP!! Unbelievable night if you have the chance to go GO!!!!!

The show-was awesome I thought I'd be bored-I wasn't!

so much fun! Hilarious and crazy friendly staff. Personal experience with only a few groups per waiter. Bring you a new included drink before you even realize yours is gone. Great decorations. Very fun show! Delicious food with live music and spectacular service - we had Danny. Even went up on stage which was nerve racking but great fun. Definitely recommend.

Best night of our trip! These pirates are a ball!

Let me tell you! If your in Puerto Vallarta, this dinner and show are an absolute must! We did the night show, and purchased the premium tickets. Let me start by saying, when they say open bar, they're not playing. Our private pirate Raven took care of my wife and I with great service and we were never dry. The food! My goodness, the steak and lobster were cooked to perfection, great flavor and the whole plate as a whole, was just excellent. You get so much in 4 hours: A beautiful sunset, a comedy show, open bar, great dinner, you get a sunset boat ride, a party, some dancing, a great show, and fireworks all rolled up into this show. These guys and gals, are doing a magnificent job and next time my wife and I are in PV, by all means will be doing this show again 100%!!!

They have different styles of boats depending on your trip but they all are clean and operated by professionals. I'm saying this a lot because when safety matters, you want to know that people are trained for their jobs. We had a highly skilled captain, very entertaining and informative tour guide and many helpful deckhands. We snorkeled (clean equipment), bird watched, saw many whales, sea turtles and went to a secluded beach. All food and drinks provided were tasty and abundant. The staff is incredibly attentive and welcoming from the start. Fair warning: the drinks start flowing around 9am, so pace yourself and bring lots of sunscreen -- the sun + cocktails add up quickly. Shoutout to Ricky Ricardo, truly the hostess with the mostest -- high energy, fun, and kept the vibe going all day. Luis was also fantastic, constantly checking in and somehow remembering everyone's names, which made the experience feel very personal and welcoming. They even slowed the boat down so we could watch whales, which was a highlight, and having a photographer on board was a nice touch to capture the day. The music on the ride home was a little outdated, but honestly... it just turned into a dance party anyway -- especially once the tequila shots started making the rounds. All in all, a great excursion with a fun crowd, attentive staff, and memorable moments. Easy 4 stars and a solid choice if you're looking for a lively day trip while in Puerto Vallarta.

After the 10 minutes are up, we had the option of continuing to wear the life jacket or take it off. All the instructions they gave were in both English and Spanish. One of the highlights on the way there was the whale watching. We saw a couple of them and it was so cool because it's the very end of the season, so we won't be seeing them again for a few months. Once we got the the island, we had some really good chips and guacamole. There were a few different excursion options for an additional cost. such as hiking to the waterfall, going horseback riding, or driving ATVs. Not sure what the cost for those were. We enjoyed snorkeling in the ocean and swimming in the shallow pool with a bar attached for easy access. I highly recommend this tour. We definitely got our money's worth and more!

After an hour or so, we stopped at a small bar/restaurant and enjoyed a beverage by a waterfall. We had a great conversation with Agustina about traveling. He was friendly and told us about the surrounding area, like the new Vidanta World that is being built in Puerto Vallarta. He asked if we wanted to stop for some great seafood, there was no extra cost to make a little stop before we got to our destination. So we said sure, and he brought us to Bucerias and we ate at a nice restaurant where he said they go out to get fresh oysters. The oysters were huge! We enjoyed the meal and he sat with us and he told us some stories. The view was nice since it was sunset time. Afterwards, we went on our way again and he brought us to our hotel. He was super nice and friendly! Our ride back to the airport after a few days of vacation was also pleasant. Our driver was someone else and he was also professional and friendly.
