They where very rude and refused to walk me through the procedure of getting my wisdom teeth removed after I had stated I was very nervous. Also told me I had a ton of "pre cavities" I needed to get fixed just for me to get a second opinion and they said I am completely cavity free. 3 months later and I am finding out there is a chunk of my wisdom tooth still in my mouth. read more

Had some cavities and thought I would try the laser approach. Here is what they don't tell you. You can end up with severe sensitivity and the spots they treat will feel rough and uncomfortable. If you are real unlucky like me you will get the benefit of the dentist having a conversation with a visitor while he works. Very unprofessional and left my mouth extremely bruised. Doctor P you need to do better . Fire all your mediocre and rude staff and start over. I've been going to this office for years and my last visit in 2020 I knew I would never be back. I think Dr. P is a decent dentist but I feel like the staff that he has surrounding him sucks I don't even have a better word for it. They just suck and the lady at the front desk is horrible. All of them are actually I don't know who they are who their names are but everyone who answers the phone has a major attitude. The hubby needed a new crown and I reluctantly sent him back to Dr. P because it seems like there are a limited amount of reputable dentists , at least in Arizona. He went to his appointment, and after had some sensitivity, and it just seems like there was a breakdown in the relationship immediately after he complained. It could have something to do with the fact that a few years ago I went to Dr. P for the same issue, and ended up spending over $3000 and still have the tooth that is terribly messed up and still haven't been able to eat on the side of my mouth After my husband experienced the same problem we're now wondering if this was not an isolated issue, and now that we've been fired as patients we're realizing this could actually potentially be what it was. Dr. P may not be the dentist we thought. If my hubby was unwilling to come back because he had sensitivity, that doesn't mean he's refusing care. I think the office needs to re-invest in some of the newer technology and hire people that actually have interpersonal skills along with their technical skills. Just my opinion though. read more

I received a pamphlet in the mail and was coincidentally looking for a new dentist, so I gave Alluring Smiles a try. The hygienist was thorough and explained everything she was doing and gave me pointers on how to improve my gum health. The dentist, Dr. P, also spent time explaining his observations and ways to improve my tooth sensitivity. I felt his approach was to educate me on ways I can improve my home care as well as offered the options for treatment in his office without being pushy. I really enjoyed my experience and left feeling heard and having a game plan to treat my symptoms, along with a gift card definitely would recommend! read more

Many positive things about the office. It's clean and up to date with technology. I liked my dental hygienist and the cleaning went well. Strange thing, I've been seeing my previous dentist and everything was fine, but after seeing this dentist, he recommended a long list of "work" needed that wouldn't be covered. Like others, I felt uncomfortable and decided to not get any work done or take my family to the practice. It felt like he was up selling me for sure. My previous dentist had the best bedside manner, trustworthy, and didn't recommend unnecessary work for an extra buck. Still on a hunt for a new practice. read more

2 1/2 stars just because the hygienists are friendly. Unfortunately, my front tooth broke again for the 3rd time! After spending over $6,000 out of pocket for the past two years at this place. I finally decided to move on and get a different dentist because I will never go back here! Two years ago, I broke my front teeth because I fell off my bike, and hit the curb. I chipped two of my front teeth, and lost one, and had to get implants. Well, A few months later, the front tooth broke, and I went in for the second time. I had to get it fixed, and yes I paid again! The final straw was three weeks ago; my implant became loose again for the third time! I thought it just needed to be recemented, but then discovered it was completely broken! I was furious for the shoddy work, but I didn't want to go back to this place and keep making this dentist money. So I went to Los Algodones to get a free x-ray and estimate, and I was told to get an implant it would cost me a $1,450. I didn't have cash upfront, so I went back to Arizona and found a new dentist, but with my insurance, my out of pocket is going to cost me $3.729 for a single tooth! Utterly ridiculous! I don't think so!!! Yeah...Insurance and dental cost in America is a joke! Total rip off. I'd rather take that money, take a long week vacation in Cancun and get my dental work there! Another thing about this place is to get a full bridge; they wanted to charge me three times more than the other dentists in the valley, and every time I come here there's always some procedure they want to do. I think the girl that works up front make commissions. Plus they charge so much for cheapjack procedures! I am so over this place, I've wasted so much money, and I've had it officially!!!!!! It's upsetting just thinking about it, but it is what it is. The lesson here is to be careful! Wear a helmet if you are riding a bike, don't get into fights, regularly brush, and floss because it's going to cause you an arm and a leg if you lose your teeth in America! read more

I had been going to Alluring Smiles for 10 years. I was doing my cleanings every 6 months and loved my hygienists Gina. My husband went and was told he needed all kinds of work. He did not feel comfortable going back. I continued to go however had to have 2 new crowns and on that visit his girlfriend who is the office manager was assisting him because it was late and I think the other staff members were gone. He treated her so badly. Apparently she did not know how to hand him the implements and he spoke to her in a very unprofessional manner. She must have been so embarrassed :-( My last visit for a cleaning out of nowhere was put with another dental hygienists even though Gina made my last appointment and she has always been my hygienists and was there that day. I was not satisfied with the new hygienists and why after 10 years would they put me with her??? That was the final straw and have since found a very good dental office in Chandler. This is the 2nd time I was quoted a price and told my insurance will cover the work. After the work was done I got a bill over $300 both times plus late fees on my 1st bill that I got. When I called them and asked about it i was told there is nothing they could do even though they told me it would be covered. I went here once after moving close by and will never return. The hygienists were nice for the cleaning, the main dentist, Dr. Javier, was not only condescending and unprofessional, but tried to scam me by saying I needed 5-6 fillings for "potential future cavities". Seriously, he said he was using this new high tech machinery that can penetrate the tooth and look for microscopic cavities that could potentially grow into larger ones. When asked what the X-rays showed, he said there was no cavities visible there. He kept trying to pressure me into getting fillings right then and there, however. I did not feel comfortable. I asked politely for him to wrap up and he asked me to make a follow up appointment to get the fillings, which I refused. I asked my family member who is a dentist about my experience and was told that if the X-ray does not show a cavity then there is no need to go in and do fillings unnecessarily. They said the machine that was used is meant for early prevention, however, what is not conveyed is that not all "abnormalities" actually progress to turn into full on cavities (ones that actually show up on an X-ray, viewable to the naked eye). Also, there is no proof that early intervention fillings do anything more to save a tooth. So in turn, this is just a fancy machine that is used to scam clients into believing they need unnecessary work done. I am all for using new technology, however, there was no education piece done by the dentist other than saying this work NEEDED to be done. I get it, a dentist is a business, most businesses that I am aware of want to maintain clientele. However, you don't earn clients trust by trying to scare them into doing procedures that are not 100% necessary. read more

I found this dentist through a circular ad that included a coupon for free whitening for new patients. Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with dental insurance and was surprised by how much my services would be to fill cavities in molars, remove wisdom teeth, and get a crown. Over $5,000 - jeez Louise! However, I gave them 4 stars because I experienced the ancient art of customer service here. Not only were they lovely throughout my entire visit to their office, but they called me when I got home to offer to take the value of the coupon off of any services I chose to get, making the cavity fills within my reach. They also advised me to prioritize the services by what my insurance will cover a greater percentage of. A few bonuses are that this office is very easy to find, beautifully and comfortably decorated, and they have a lot of really cool technology. The staff is very professional and personable. The facility is very nice and clean and the staff are friendly, buuut after I had my cleaning, the "dentist" came in and did a poor examination. He "reviewed" my xrays and pictures and barely even looked in my mouth, then told me that I had 3 cavities, one that required anesthetic and 2 that did not. The estimated cost was around $500. I was shocked because I've only had 2 cavities my whole life and now to have 3 since my last visit approximately 8 months ago at a previous dentist seemed strange. I got my records and made the trek to my old dentist an hour away and he said I do not have any cavities. Not even suspicious looking spots. Needless to say I was relieved, but very disappointed that I would be deceived by a health care professional. The dentist knew that I was a nursing student with no income and no insurance. I got a flyer in the mail for free whitening, if you got a cleaning. The hygienist was excellent really liked her professionalism and she was very good at cleaning. The dentist / owner Dr Portocarreor of this office not so much. He came in informed me I needed $7,000 worth of work, cavity filled crowns replaced fake screw in tooth etc etc . Now I have dental ins go every 6 mths so of course I am fuming how could my dentist miss all this !!! Could not get the free whitening without the work done first. So I made an apt with my dentist showing him the print out I had asked for of all the work I needed and the mountains of x-rays Dr Portocarreor had done. My dentist did concur that I had a "small" cavity which he fixed right away the rest I did not need which I knew cause I did not have any problems . I then called Alluring smiles back they said they had to get notifications of what I had done and my dentist sent them to her. She then called back after setting my "free cleaning" up and informed me she "forgot" to tell me that there is a miscellaneous fee of $349.00 !! REALLY !!!! This dentist is taking advantage of people and ripping them off if you go be sure you get a second opinion before you take out a mortgage for this dentist ! These folks did alot of "catch up" to get my gums and some other dental repairs. They did okay. They did not review with me each problem and what they were going to do. I took the hit for the $4000.00 bill and returned for the cap at the top back tooth. Dr. P proceeded with a vengence using a white ball to hold my mouth open. (this ball had already been used before... sanitary?) There was also another implement holding my right jaw open... During the back tooth procedure the dental tool slipped and split my cheek wide open on the right-side of my mouth. Oochhhhh! I ended up going to another dentist. I went back to Dr. P's office to get a credit on my bill for the cap that was to go on my tooth that had the root canal. I did get a credit but it did not match the amount they had already billed me for. I got the crown from Dr. P's office and went to another dentist. The other dentist put in the crown in but wanted to know why there was the huge tear in my cheek. read more
