I've bought some really cute purses here and they just have to many cute things for adults and kids. I just got a box of 50 surgical disposable face masks for $39 that might sound like a lot but I've been seeing places around charging $2 to $5 a piece for 1 so just saying hats off to Pearson's for not price gouging

We needed a helping hand in planning a trip to Europe we are taking in November. I thought who better to help us than the place we relied on when we booked our honeymoon ten years ago, Pearson's Travel World. One thing that I like about going here is the smell of new leathery luggage that hits you as soon as you walk in. The staff has always greeted me upon entering, even if they are engaged with someone. They are not too pushy but they don't leave you hanging either. When get to the back, the ladies at the front desk of the travel agency are very kind and helpful. They are quick to get you talking with one of the agents. Over the years, I have spoken to a few different people and they each have been extremely accommodating and helpful. Sometimes planning a big trip, like a 10 day to Europe, can be daunting so why not let the pros do it for you. The agent that helped us this time, Chris, found us the best flights possible and he even changed a flight that ultimately didn't work for us the very next day. Overall I am very pleased this place and I will definitely go back to Pearsons's in the future for their service.

If you're looking for Spirit Airlines in the form of a hotel, you're at the right place…read more I've lived in Baton Rouge since Hurricane Katrina before moving to Houston in March 2018, and I've passed The Shades Motel almost daily. I had never thought too much of it; it's an old-school, unassuming, mid-century modern motel along the unofficial Red Light District in the Capital City. For years, I figured it was a makeshift brothel much like a similar...um...deca-flagged inn one mile north (if you're from Baton Rouge, you'll get it). I was completely wrong. The Shades Motel is a nice, quaint, no-frills motel whose footprint is much bigger than you'll see from the street. They have vending, ice and laundry machines, and the rooms clearly had some sort of renovation in recent years. I needed to return to Baton Rouge to surprise a former coworker in the hospital. On a tight budget from a slow month of work, I took a leap of faith and booked with The Shades Motel through Travelocity, where they have a 4.1/5 rating with nine reviews. I already knew where the motel was located, but even for an actual traveler, it's easy to get to because it's on Airline Highway (U.S. 61), the busiest drag in the city. My room was $55 for the night, $63 including taxes, etc., with check-in/check-out being 11 a.m. My transaction with the older Indian man at the desk was easy-peasy, and I proceeded to my room in the middle of the complex with my key and my belongings. Again, this is a motel, so each room, for all intents and purposes, has its own parking. My single king room was clean, smelled great and was equipped with local Cox cable, WiFi with the password was on the back of the TV remote, a sofa, a desk and *especially* a microwave and fridge. I am a huge germaphobe--possibly OCD--and I felt clean and safe enough to go barefoot in the room and in the shower. Naturally, the clientele weren't among the 1%, but they weren't anyone I felt threatened by at all, either. The bed was about what you'd expect from a no-frills motel--comfortable enough--and there was no shortage of towels. There was even the requisite Holy Bible in one of the nightstands. It was a great place to stuff my face, lay my head and commiserate about my life while bitterly watching my former coworkers at the local NBC/Fox affiliate... A little more about the location, The Shades Motel is located in the geographic heart of the Red Stick (Baton Rouge), just north of Florida Blvd./U.S. 190 and Airline Highway/U.S. 61. Sans traffic, you're about 20 minutes from Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, 20 minutes from the sprawling Mall of Louisiana, 20 minutes from downtown and the museums, and just over 10 minutes from Mid City, a large district home to great shopping, antiques and dining. But if you're into abandoned places as I am, you're walking distance from Cortana Mall. Formerly The Mall at Cortana, it was once a booming complex as recently as the late 2000s, now empty with locals walking about, pointing out which stores used to be where. I worked there at Aeropostale during the 2008 holiday season, and even did some shopping at Macy's before they closed in 2016. As uncanny as it sounds, the vacant Cortana Mall is definitely an attraction, but it's also worthy of a rebirth. Either way, you can still grab some deals at the Dillard's Clearance Center, one of the three remaining tenants and the only remaining retailer, or find a few other things at the stores along the perimeter. After a night of rest and reminiscing, I checked out promptly at 11 a.m. completely satisfied. This motel is conveniently located and included everything I needed, all while giving me a sense of safety and cleanliness at the right price. For my eventual next visit to Baton Rouge, I will definitely be checking in at The Shades Motel. Who knows? I might snatch up the Jacuzzi room. Just make sure to grab some Chinese at Gold Bowl down the street, my review here on Yelp. You're welcome.

If you're looking for a wedding coordinator absolutely do not go to the one that I just recently…read morehad, you will be beyond disappointed from my supposedly coordinator A.t. Wilson(the butler aka the traveling butler) and chef Tameeka Stewart . My personal experience was the food was Nothing like was tasted in the food tasting, was cold, took HOURS to get food, people left from starvation, my napkins I paid for and monogrammed not left out with the cake, my friends had to serve cake, the entire bottom tier of my cake was left after everyone ate cake, and I got none of it, my party favors that were to be left on every table and used were in a container at the front door so anyone that would like one I have a bunch. Also people people were told they were not on the rsvp list, after I sent a completed list and verified this on my end to Chef and coordinator multiple times. The grooms dad was told he was not on the list and did not receive his steak dinner that was requested at least four times during this whole planning process because they were told that he did not eat what was being served yet he was forced to receive a plate that he did not eat. Drinks were taken up at 9:30 PM including Water when I had the place rented until midnight and we're not supposed to leave until 1045. People were hot. Ice was not given with any drinks, and when was requested was told there was none. Alcoholic beverages were being sold for four dollars for about 5 ounces of beer and people were told there was no change when Change should have been brought, like for instance, at a garage sale where Change was available, my dad offered to pay full price or actually double at the cost of eight dollars for the entire can of beer and was told that they could not do it so people were forced to go across the parking lot to buy beer and bring it in from the outside. Coordinator was late for my ceremony. My DJ who worked hard on the ceremony and reception did not receive a meal after he RSVPed. This whole experience was extremely embarrassing to me and Brian because we sacrificed for two years and spent every dime we had on this important event in our lives. I was told by him that he did not have several thousand dollars in his back pocket and my response to that was make pmts just like I did and that I'm sorry is not good enough this time and frankly it's not .messaged him today that he had until next week to send me all invoices for vendors so I can see what he paid versus what I gave him and told him he could either bring me my cake knives or mail them to me and I have gotten no response and have been ignored.. The Chef was extremely rude to Brian and I and when I asked her why there was no pasta on the fish plates and why some people did not get starches on their plates and why the food was cold, Her response was goodbye. we paid way too much money for what we received. it upsets me that he would do me this way and take advantage of me. I have talked to other people who have told me if they would have known, he was my coordinator they would have warned me. I just don't want him doing this to other people and getting away with it especially to brides on their wedding day. even if peoples names were not on the list there should have been enough food and it should have been prepared and hot enough to make a plate just like you would do at a restaurant when you order food and it's not cooked yet. People including my special-needs children who don't understand waiting for their meal. Had to wait until after cake cutting and almost 9 o'clock to get their meal and then it was ice cold and they could not eat it . Ultimately, he did not make the food, but he is still in charge of everything if he wants to call himself a producer. he does not deserve that title. The least he could've done after all of this being brought to him on Monday would to be honorable and say I know I screwed up and I'm sorry that you did not get what you paid for so I'm offering to pay you back at least 5k. I fight for what's right and he is wrong in the situation. Him ignoring me has made me more mad He has also blocked me on Facebook! And Brian cannot even locate his profile He still has both sets of my cake knives that were engraved and has ignored me and will not respond to text messages. He is supposed to be moving to Houston soon . the sad part is I've known this man for 31 years and thought I could trust him. My rehearsal dinner was a joke with a pile of cold red beans, and a scoop of gummy rice that you couldn't break apart alongside fried chicken wings, and a piece of fried rice and cornbread! He had a 3K budget for that! Red beans cost nothing and there's no way he spent that much on that meal!
