While running last-minute errands, my low tire pressure light suddenly came on. I called the Annapolis store to see if they could check and fill the tire, and Mr. Darnelle promptly checked me in upon arrival. ​After I explained that I was heading out on a major solo drive, he invited me to relax in the waiting room. Not even five minutes later, Mr. Darnelle called me over--not just because of the nail he found in the tire, but because his initial inspection revealed that none of my four tires were safe for a long journey. He patiently showed me where one tire was already starting to split and the tread on the others was dangerously low. ​It wasn't a high-pressure sales pitch at all; it was genuine concern for my safety. ​The real dilemma hit when we checked options: the Annapolis store didn't have my tire size in stock and couldn't get them until the next day. Since I was leaving at 3:00 AM, waiting wasn't an option. Understanding my tight schedule, Mr. Darnelle went above and beyond. He called around to other local tire merchants until he successfully located a set of four in stock that could be installed that very afternoon, and had them held for me. ​Because of Mr. Darnelle's extraordinary customer care, I was able to get my tires replaced and stay right on schedule. That kindness and professionalism meant everything to me, especially later during my drive down I-95 and I-85 when I saw the remains of other travelers' blown-out tires on the side of the road. ​If it weren't for Mr. Darnelle's keen eye and proactive assistance, I easily could have ended up broken down on the highway myself. If one of the newer agents do not have a specific answer to my question, they will reach out to their supervisor or manager and get back to me that day or the next business day. I barely knew a lick about Insurance before switching to Donaldson and Emerson with Erie, and the agents educate me on my policies every time I call. They helped not feel dumb to ask a question, and they were patient with me. It seems like They would rather be correct than to misinform the customer. The agent there was terrible; he increased my auto insurance coverage beyond what I said I wanted without my permission and then basically tried to scare me into keeping the more expensive coverage. I decided these were not the people I wanted to work with so I took my business elsewhere. Lo and behold, a few months later, I started getting bills for the home insurance policy through Geico. I called and cancelled the policy and was told that it would be backdated so that I would owe no money since I have an actual policy with a company that treated me with dignity and respect, unlike the local Geico agent. However, I recently got a bill from a collection agency for this nonexistent homeowners insurance that I never actually signed up for. At lot of wasted time and energy has gone into getting this policy that I never wanted cancelled. I recommend looking elsewhere for an insurance agent.
