Last week during Calgary's Deep Freeze (minus 27 degrees) I was driving my Subaru Legacy home on the Deerfoot south bound from 64th ave. Suddenly the dashboard went dead and I had no info on what speed, RPM's, lights I was traveling at but the engine was still working. I was just approaching the 32nd Ave overpass on Deerfoot so I quickly bee-lined up the off ramp in an attempt to make it to Allmakes before the car died completely. I managed to make it up to the 6th street & 32nd Ave intersection when the car died completely. The time was just before 5:30pm when they close so I ran my butt off up the hill crossing my fingers (and frozen toes) that they would still be there. I was in luck as they were just locking the doors when I arrived. The owner threw a battery booster into his car and we drove down the hill to where my car was stranded. After attaching the booster to my battery, I was able to get the car running long enough to drive it up the hill and into their shop to be looked at the next day. He then dropped me off at the Tim Horton's at the top of the hill while I waited for my wife to come get me. Turns out my alternator had died and I had run my battery dead while driving home. The following day I picked up my repaired car (with a new alternator at a very reasonable cost) and things were great! I can't say enough good things about Allmakes as I have been using them for all my Legacy car maintenance for the past 10+ years. I drive across the city to have all my maintenance done by them, they are that trustworthy. When it comes to Subaru's, they are the best, hands down. read more

I've had nothing but good experiences there. All the repairs and services were well done. When I had a question afterwards (e.g. fine tuning the adjustment of the hand brake), they would look at the car promptly, check the concern and adjust if necessary. They test drive my car and find answers (not the "the computer doesn't show anything" I get from the Subaru dealership at over $100 a shot). I have some training in mechanics and find their recommendations are reasonable and they seem very knowledgeable. Sometimes they've told me "We need to do this now, you probably shouldn't drive the car like this" and I am grateful they cared enough to pick up the problem. Sometimes it's me inquiring about new noises or vibrations and they test drive and say that we don't need to worry yet and that this can wait for the next service. Prices are about half of what I paid at the Subaru dealership. Vibes are good. Whenever I wait there for my car I can hear all the customers come and go. It's always relaxed, respectful and friendly. I trust them and it has paid off: it's pleasant doing business with them and my older Subaru is running like a charm. read more

I have taken our '09 Forester here for years, after one of our friends recommended it. Have been very happy. Prices are always very fair, and even if you ask for work to be done, they'll only do it if you need it. Very unlike Subaru Calgary where the last time I took it there, they recommended new tires which was odd, to say the least, considering I'd had new ones put on just a few weeks before that! Recently, I had our head gasket replaced at Allmakes after the engine started weeping around 140k. About 4 months later, the Sub died on the side of the highway, no oil at all. Alllmakes said that sometimes the gasket repair can put more pressure on bad valves, but it would have been unusual to have this happen on an engine with this many km's. They didn't feel they did anything to cause this, but ended up finding a used engine and did a complimentary replacement. I'm very impressed, and glad to be back on the road again. Any shop that will stand behind their work like this has earned my business for life! read more

Serviced my new Subie this afternoon. Though it's the first time there, I did an full inspection for it anyways. The service did well, and I can tell they even adjusted brake peddle which now feels more efficient. The cost surely is slightly lower than at dealer, with that I have no question, since it met general maintenance standards. The thing I don't like is the technician changed my car's next schedule reminder setting. He put a date and self-set kilometer on it, without my authorization. Later I checked it and found the setting has changed. I phoned and confronted with this, the service person told me to avoid next service warning pop up, and did apologized for this. Car settings may contain personal info as driving habit, birthday info, or even contact phone number stored, for those I cannot just ignore. It is a good service shop, but I hope they got a little respect on people's privacy. read more

Normally I dread taking my car to get serviced but this place has been a real breath of fresh air. After getting an AMA inspection at Dale Adams Auto "Specialists" I got quoted that my vehicle needed in excess of $1,000 of servicing and potentially more. This seemed a bit unusual so I googled other options and found All Makes Auto Repair. I took my car in and left it with them for the day. Not only were a number of faults they referenced on the inspection completely without merit, but the ones that did need attention cost a fraction of the prices they quoted. The total service ended up costing me approximately $350! This is the only place I will get my car serviced in Calgary and have recommended it to several friends who have also had good experiences here. We have a Hyundai not a Subaru but I decided to take it here based on the great reviews posted by customers. The price and quality of service for the repair I brought the vehicle in for was excellent. Unfortunately after I picked up the vehicle I immediately noticed an issue which may have been accidentally caused during the repair work. It could also have been a coincidence. AllMakes immediately took my vehicle in, assessed the problem and fixed the problem totally free of charge without question. Any repair shop can make a mistake and accidents sometimes happen but very few are as honest and caring as Allmakes. I'm happy that I've finally found an auto repair shop that I can trust. We have been taking our vehicles to Din and Shiraz for many years. We knew they were the place for us when, on our first visit, they took the time to show us the worn out parts that needed replacement, and to fully explain the work they did. They have partially rebuilt a motor for us, done a major clutch job (when an obscure seal burst deep inside our car), fixed brakes, done simple oil changes, and so much more. This week we bought a new vehicle and, as usual, took it to them for an assessment. They are great people and we trust them completely to charge a fair price. They have high ethics and values. I have been taking my '02 Subaru Impreza to Allmakes since the warranty expired, in fact a little sooner and I am so glad I did, they found a leaky head gasket that was still covered under warranty and pointed it out to me so I could take it to get repaired for free. I had been going to the dealer for oil changes prior to that and somehow they never noticed, that was the last time I took my car to the dealer. these guys have always been fair and honest. I recently did a timing belt and clutch with them and the bill was a lot lower than i was expecting. read more

Subaru gods! Moving here from Sask with our Subaru we were not pleased with either dealership. We've been taking our vehicles to Allmakes for 15 years now. Subarus, Hondas, a Saturn and a Hyundai. The service is excellent, prices great, and they stand by their work. We have always been treated fairly, and have even walked away a few times with no cost for simple repairs or advice. This is the only mechanic that I can trust to repair only what needs to be done, for a fair price, and not convince me to pay a fortune for something unnecessary. I lost my low beam lights on our 2007 Subaru Forester when travelling from Winnipeg to Alberta over the Christmas holidays. We have been taking our 2003 Outback here for many years, about 10 since we bought it. The mechanics here have always been helpful, informative and only doing the necessary repairs. Heck, I took it in once for a tune up and they said it didn't really need one but did change the oil change and whatever else it needed. Today was the third time I have had Sharaz and company look after my 2005 Subaru Legacy. Each time I was extremely pleased with the straightforward, honest approach, and fair pricing. Took my car here after reading many online reviews. The guys were excellent. I took the car in for a timing belt and tune up. After checking everything out they said the timing belt was fine and a number of the tune up items (plugs and wires) were not necessary at this time as mine were good. Honest guys, quick work.
