On last July 19th, 2022 I asked for the repair of the engine for my boat to Allison Marine Service. Cody came to check up but cannot identify the problem So the next day Gaby came to check up but he said need to take her to the shop. They charged $835.51 for analysis In the shop they can not identify then suggest changing the fuel pump and cooler and regulator. Charged $2,436.48 But no result. they asked me to change the impeller cost around $300 But the same engine problems going on.. then they asked me to pay another $3,000 for the repair additional job (see the memo). I refused and get out of their premises. they blame me for having an aged boat. nonsense. I've been a hostage and can not take out my boat because they have an automated gate that needs the key to open. So I have to pay in front. The next day I made an appointment with Tacoma Marine service on October 26th, 2022. Because they are so busy. After analysis. The problem was the wrong part installed by Allison Marine Service. Would never take my boat to this place again. Buyers beware they way over charge for parts. Told me the starter was out and charge $195 for a rebuild that did not even included the 1.5 hours an labor so in the end was $400 dollars for a 200 starter than takes 20min to install. Let's move to the 3inch riser extensions for the manifolds $363 dollars for something you can buy for 180 dollars and this list goes. Here is some free advice for everyone go some place else.. I called Allison Marine on my way to Arizona while towing my large boat. I had a urgent trailer issue with my boat and trailer. Ron rearranged his schedule and got me right in. I arrived wih a bad attitude since I had been jacked around by a previous service company earlier in Seattle. Ron and his team put up with my suspicious attitude and jumped on fixing my problem and had it completed within an hour. The price to complete the job was extremely reasonable and I was thrilled. Allison Marine Service Single handily the worst Marine Shop in Seattle! * Worst customer service * Taking Paying customers for their time and money! * Say whatever to get you to leave your boat and then come with outrages prices. Demanding to pay for a service that wasn't even completely preformed. Today is April 1st and I honestly thought this was a April fools joke but it certainly was not! Gabe was actually a really nice guy who took in my boat and clearly explained to me that they were going to preform a list of procedures to my boat to figure out why it wouldn't go faster than 10-15 mph. I clearly said to him the boat is not starting (I am not here for you to tell me why it's not starting but why it's not going faster than 10-15mph) he then said no worries I can diagnose it and tell you why it's not going faster than 10-15mph... Acouple days later after they told me they'd have an answer with in that day (then a phone call from the owner Ron saying they needed another day) now all they are telling me is you need to get it started atleast 200 bucks to get a starter on it! I told him we already knew that you said you'd figure out why it's not going past 10-15 mph not why it's not starting. Now they are saying well I can't figure out what's wrong with it until I start it... (Makes sence... Now after he explains that) but why did he say he can figure it out with in a hour after knowing its not starting. Point is I went there today to pick up my boat because I am not going to pay 200 + to get a starter fixed that I can get for $50! The owner denied me from taking my boat he then threaten me by saying "I have guns inside my store" told me to pay the bill (which he didn't comply with, he never checked compression, checked spark plugs, nor inspect fuel system) I walked to my truck to get my wallet, then here comes Cody (the owners son) wanting to argue with me, telling me what was said to me when I dropped off the boat (mind you, the day I dropped off the boat he was in the rest room and sent gabe to check in the boat) he was no where around to hear my conversation with gabe nor was Ron. The point to this CL ad is to aware people to the type of business they are running, im sure they have been in business for 17 years and do know about boats but by knowing that you don't take people's hard Earned money by making false promises and then expect then to pay for something they didn't agree on. Do not ever bring your boat here! I was charged $315.00 to reattach a wire on my carburetor which included tax and shop supplies...in which no parts were used). Not only that, I had to call them to find out when my boat was done. I was charged 2 hours of labor at $135.00 an hour when the worker told me it took him 1 hour. After getting off the phone with Ron he told me he would get my boat ready right then for me to take it home. I live 30 minutes away not including traffic. Once I got there no one even started on putting my boat together. Never again. read more

I've brought my boat for a pre-purchase inspection at Allison Marine Service. As part of the inspection the technician pulled spark plugs to check cylinders compression. When I brought my boat to my home in Portland OR I tried to start the engine and engine wouldn't start backfiring violently. I had to call a local boat mechanic to investigate and fix the issue and he found out that Allison Marine Service installed ignition cables in wrong firing order. I had to pay mechanic $85 for the troubleshooting. After that I called Allison Marine Service, explained the situation and asked to be refunded $85 due to their mistake. I was told that since I was there during my boat inspection my presence created a distraction for the mechanic and it is basically my fault and they would not reimburse me. I said that I'll then cancel my credit card and the owner began threatening me personally. read more

I haven't actually had work done here yet, but I will, and I can't say enough good stuff about the owner, Ron. We purchased a boat today from a private seller and only after we hooked it up to our vehicle did he mention that the trailer brakes were disconnected...what?! Not cool with us. I immediately Googled for a marine service place nearby and Allison Marine came up. I called and the owner was on his way out the door to go home, but offered to wait for us. He met us outside and not only checked out the brake situation but hopped in the boat and checked the engine, plus the prop, and everything else just to let us know what he thought of the boat (without us asking). Through the course of my decades of being in business and being a boat owner, I have come to realize that there are some places that rely sheerly on the bulk of numbers of people coming through their door to make their money... Placing little to no value on repeat customers. This is a textbook example of that type of business. With all the refinery of a used car salesman Ron Will suck every penny out of you he can. By his own admission Ron has been sued several times, but still knows that many people would rather be taken advantage of then proceed with litigation. In my case he was wrong... See you in court. Asked mechanic to change fuel filter in 40 hp mercury 4 stroke. He said it looked fine. First 30 seconds on water boat did not work because fuel filter was clogged. Obviously he never looked at clogged filter. Asked for oil changed in engine. Mechanic changed lower unit too even though I had it done previous year and did not ask for it. Got charged for both even though I had requested lower unit not done. Head mechanic called after my boat had been there several days. The owner's son complained that I should not have brought my boat in because he was on vacation and he did not have time for it. This information was not provided when I dropped boat off for the 3 day turn around I was promised. I was called and blamed by owner's son for dropping boat off without permission. I called number provided, owner's son complained that I had called his private cell. That was the number I was given by owner's son the previous season when I had engine tuned. Last year when I had oil changed, they cleaned boat. This year that service was not provided. I assume it was because I did not have permission to have boat repaired by owner's son? When I called and complained about the poor service, I was met by indifference from the owner. When I picked the boat up and met with owner about the odd circumstances in which my boat repair was done, the owner wore a side arm in a loose holster. It was a little intimidating sharing my poor service with the owner when he was armed and not interested in hearing about his son's incompetent customer service. It was almost comical. I suppose their customer relations is, get shot if you have a problem with our service otherwise keep your mouth shut and pay the bill. read more

Worst place ever! I bought a used boat that I know needed work. Asked for a full inspection on my boat so I could prioritize what to fix first. Explained that one part of my boat did not need to be touched because the electrical work was already done. Explained my boat was sinking when I put it in the water and I was concerned about the electrical. I told Ron that if the repairs were going to go above $2500 I wanted a call before the work was done. I had a deadline that I needed my boat back by and explained that I was entered in a tournament and wanted to put the boat on the water before the tournament to make sure it was usable. After MULTIPLE calls on when my boat was going to be ready and multiple excuses from Ron I did get my boat back the NIGHT before I had to leave for my tournament early the next morning. the bill was over $3600! I was charged for Ron disposing of 10 gallons of gas when there was NO gas in my boat when I dropped it off. I was charged for air being put in my spare tire (which was already done) for bearings and seals on my trailer (which were already done) and was told the electrical wires were replaced (most were not.) The part of my boat that wasn't supposed to be touched, WAS and the wires were connected wrong and the switch was stripped so the wires would not stay connected. I was overcharged for parts and labor. When I explained how concerned I was that I didn't get to test the boat out before I took it out of town for my tournament Ron assured me that my boat would work great. HA! As soon as my boat was put into the water the bilge pump started pumping massive amounts of water out of the boat. The switches didn't work to turn on the stereo or fish/depth finder, the motor didn't run. it was a total disaster. I had to forfeit the tournament, was out $500 for tournament fees and lodging, my partner was out $300 and my boat was unusable. Ron overcharged me for everything, and never fixed my boat. They NEVER even put my boat on the water to check to see if the leaks were fixed and the motor ran while in the water even when I was told they DID! I brought my boat back immediately and Ron said he would make it right. Guess what, he found that all my live wells were leaking and admitted that when they found the first leak they assumed the sinking problem was fixed so didn't look any further. He told me that he would fix my carburetors on the motor to help make up for the $500 I was out for tournament fees. His son said that he would put my boat on the water the next day and test out the motor and find the other leaks. That did not happen until over a week later. When I went to pick the boat back up Ron said the motor still needed work (which I already knew) but it ran good. HE could NOT get my motor running while I was standing there. One of his mechanics finally got it running after spraying a bunch of HEET in the carburetors. I could go on and on, but what's the point? I would NEVER take my boat back to Allison Marine. Nice guys but they TOTALLY took advantage of me not knowing anything about boats, did a terrible job assessing the issues with my boat and completely let me down. So disappointing. read more

Took my boat in for repairs 1st they said bad fuel drained fuel and change filter didn't fix problem then they said my fuel filter housing and fuel lines where the problem ok they have been on boat for over 5 years with no problems but I said change them still didn't fix problem now its the aux fuel pump this pump is only used too get fuel to the main fuel pump while cranking changed it out still not fixed long story short they are parts changers don't have a clue what they are doing charged me 2000$ and my boats still doesn't work they had the balls to tell me they don't have manual for my engine its a Mercury they are mercury dealers I have the repair manual they ask for it but it was time to take boat else where if you want crapping service and a kid that's doesn't know what he is doing take your boat their. read more

I highly recommend giving these guys a call. I had a Kawasaki jetski that would not start after I flushed it out and had a battery problem. I called 5 different Kawasaki dealers and several marine service shops within a 30 mile radius of my house. After telling them about the issue and what led up to it, NONE of them could give me an idea of might be wrong. They all said it sounds like it might be a starter, compression, injector, or an electrical issue and they would have to send the EMU out for diagnostics ($500) and possibly replace it ($1500+). Then there would be labor on top of that. The last call I made was to Allison Marine Service. (should have been the first, had I known). Cody answered the phone and I started telling him the story of what happened. After the first minute he said he was 95% sure he known what the problem was and that it was a quick fix. He explained how I had flushed it out could have cause "Hydrolock" meaning the engine was full of water. He told me what they needed to do and said to bring it down as soon as I can. I loaded up my ski and drove 35 miles to their shop. After about an hour I got a message containing a video showing that the ski was running and the issue was resolved. Cody, Max, and the other guys that were there were all friendly and helpful. They also gave me some advice on how to avoid having this problem occur. These will be the first place I call if I have any issue in the future. Well worth the drive and money. read more

Found this place on yelp... Decided to give them a try even though I suspected some of the positive reviews to be not credible, and there were quite a few negative reviews. Was desperate to get my boat on the water so I rolled the dice. Brought in my boat to have the starter replaced. They gave me a quote said it would be no big deal and said they could probably get it done for cheaper then the other places that gave me quots . After a few hours which they charge me for they tell me that my engine is froze. I know this is BS and tell them to put it in gear and spin the prop a little so the flywheel teeth will align. They do this and miraculously the engine is suddenly not frozen and the problem is fixed. If I had not argued with Ron about the fly wheel alignment they would have tried to take me for hundreds of dollars more. Instead they were about 2 1/2 hours over their estimate. If you're not very familiar with your boat or don't have mechanical knowledge... These guys will screw you. This type of place gives mechanics a bad reputation and can make owning a boat a real nightmare. Avoid read more

I brought in a used boat (2007 Bayliner with a merc 3.0) I had just purchased last fall a full week before labor day hoping to get it out labor day weekend. It ran rough, like a clogged fuel filter or bad gas. He thought it would take about a week, I understood when it wasn't done by labor day but in the end it took them over 6 weeks after telling me several times it would be ready within a few days. I ended up letting him winterize it since he had it so long. I brought it in initially for, "hard start, rough into gear, left trailer light out" according to the ticket. After over $2000 in repairs related to running rough (actually $3700 including some new upholstery and other miscellaneous things that I may or may not have needed?) when it was finally ready I noticed that the trailer light was still out, so I took it home and did that myself. I think he forgot the trailer lights and the fact that it was rough into gear. I took it out this year and it was really hard to start and wouldn't stay running so had to have a mechanic I met at the lake turn up the idle very high so it wouldn't die and we could at least use it. It is still very rough into gear, so when you try to load or launch it takes off somewhat uncontrollably, If I turn the idle down low enough for it to not take off fast it won't stay running. I was charged for a complete tune up, all new plugs, wires, rebuilt carburetor, clean fuel tank, new fuel lines, fuel filter kit, cap rotor, oil sender, and many other items. So in summary after all that money it still had all the original symptoms: rough to start (and stay running), rough into gear and trailer lights not functioning. Oh and now the gas gauge and stereo no longer work, guessing he forgot to hook up the wires. Must be some good weed. read more
