My experience working for Allied Universal was one of the worst experiences I've had with an employer.
I worked extremely hard for this company. I had no write-ups, no disciplinary actions, and no reprimands during my employment. I consistently showed up, covered shifts, and worked approximately 60 consecutive days without a single day off. Instead of recognizing that dedication, I felt completely abandoned when I needed support.
While my direct supervisor was on vacation for nearly three weeks, I was prescribed a new medication that significantly worsened the effects of my disability. Rather than showing any concern or trying to work with me, I was removed from my site. There was no empathy, no meaningful conversation, and no effort to understand what I was going through.
The company's HR department has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. Getting a response is nearly impossible. You're told someone will call you back, but they don't. You're transferred from one person to another, and no one seems willing to actually resolve your issue.
Today was the final straw.
I called because I've been trying for weeks to get the workers' compensation information I needed. I first spoke with the receptionist, Bianca. I explained that I'd been getting the runaround and simply asked if she could help me reach someone who could actually assist me. Instead, she transferred me to a line that rang until voicemail.
When I called back, I politely asked if I could speak with a manager. Instead of helping me, I was repeatedly disconnected. Over the course of my calls, I was hung up on, transferred without explanation, or my calls were simply ended. I have my phone records showing how many times I called and how many of those calls lasted only seconds before being disconnected.
I also spoke with Alyssa, whose attitude was no better. I was trying to speak with someone other than the HR representative I had already filed complaints against through NAVEX. That is a completely reasonable request, yet I was never given the opportunity to speak with another manager or someone outside of the people involved in my complaint.
Even after resigning, I requested confirmation that my resignation had been received, asked for my release code so I could transfer within the company, and requested information I needed regarding my employment. My requests were ignored.
From my experience, Allied Universal expects employees to sacrifice everything for the job, but when an employee needs support, communication, or basic respect, those things are hard to find. I felt that client satisfaction always came before employee well-being.
The only reason I finally obtained a workers' compensation phone number was after weeks of trying, and by the time I got it, the office had already closed for the day because of all the delays.
If you're considering working for Allied Universal, I encourage you to do your research. My experience was one of feeling overworked, unsupported, and dismissed despite having a clean employment record and giving everything I had to the job. read more
