Incompetent and unreliable. David Middleton was contacted to assess the cause of a chimney leak in the attic. He claimed the chimney leak could only be fixed if he carried out extensive work on the chimney: capping, repointing, fitting new lead flashing, taking off chimney pots, for the price of £796. He was unreliable, not turning up as promised within a week. We had to wait two months and chase him again. He did the work on a wet day in December and left us with a leaking chimney just as we had at the start. He refused to return some of the money. He came back four times trying to fix the leak, but he did not succeed. He had guaranteed the leak would be fixed if the whole chimney was capped and repointed, obviously an expensive job, but he obviously had no idea what the real problem was or he did the work incompetently. He also bluntly lied that he had said all along the problem was the roof, when he had explicitly stated from the beginning that the roof was in good condition.
