Genesis Funeral Home

Genesis Funeral Home

I highly recommend Genesis Funeral Home for their exceptional care and professionalism. Navigating…read morethe passing of our beloved mother and grandmother while I was also recovering from my own surgery was an immense challenge, but Director Paul Rey and the entire team stepped in and managed everything perfectly. In an industry that can often feel predatory toward people when they are most emotionally vulnerable, Genesis is a rare find. Their pricing was straightforward, incredibly fair, and provided with complete transparency. There was absolutely no pressure to add unnecessary services or spend beyond our means. Paul provided such lovely care for our mother and grandmother, turning a complicated, stressful week into a seamless and dignified experience. We are profoundly grateful for their support during such a difficult time and cannot thank them enough for their impeccable service and genuine integrity.

One place quoted 5,000 more than Genesis because they had to "come from Miami" (to Ft. Lauderdale). I had to laugh at that one. Genesis is straight-forward, reasonable, and efficient. We didn't even have to go the the funeral home. Documents emailed to us, signed, emailed back. Paid by phone. DONE! I'm not a fan of the funeral industry, but I did not feel ripped off by Genesis. Paul didn't try to upsell , or offer services he know we didn't need. Many (most, actually) funeral homes take advantage of grieving families. Not Genesis. Thanks, Paul, for a job well done.

Marilyn met us promptly in her office at the scheduled time and explained everything regarding the cremation in detail. She was extremely patient with us concerning the plaque for the front of the niche where the ashes are laid to final rest. The brief ceremony was flawless and well organized.

I'm giving it two stars instead of one, because the first time we were here for the funeral of my…read morefamily member all seemed to go very well. However, when returning for the unveiling, it all went downhill. I'm talking about one man in the office and one man of the grounds crew driving the golf cart. When we arrived, it was raining, I went inside to make sure that our previously made arrangements with Courtney were being followed. A tent and chairs were requested. The chairs were there completely filled with water, like tiny swimming pools. The tent was nowhere to be seen. I asked the man in the office if we could please have our tent because it was raining, he replied "there is an overhang, unless the rain is driving sideways you will be fine." I did tell him the name of the person we were here for, and he should have known that there is no overhang where we were sitting. Therefore, we would not be protected. We went outside to make sure that what I had said was true. Lo and behold, there is no overhang. There is one on the side of the mausoleums, not where we were. In any case, a man comes by, a supervisor I assume, driving a golf cart with crew members walking along with him. I went over and said, "excuse me, sir, do you have any towels we might use to wipe off the chairs?" He looked at me blankly and replied "we don't have any towels." He then proceeded to throw a dirty, small yellow rag at me. As you can imagine, at an unveiling, for my family member, I was not in the mood. I walked quietly to the seats to wipe them off, where I discovered the mini swimming pools. There was a kindly looking crewmember near me, I asked him if he had any towels for me. He very nicely took the rag from my hand, produced his own as well, and proceeded to wipe all the chairs off. At least there's one crewmember that looks kindly upon people in their sadness. These may seem to be small or petty indiscretions by the staff. The inconsiderate office manager, the rude crew supervisor, the incompetent person who handled the unveiling reservation. I can assure you if you were burying a family member you would not be in the mood for this nonsense either.
