I have belonged to five different credit unions before and still belong to three and I'll say that Alliance is certainly one of the best ever. Just opened a Liquid asset account and Janessa G. was extremely helpful through the entire process. I've always been welcomed and greeted without exception. read more

rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Alliance Credit Union has been one of the most frustrating and poorly handled banking relationships I've ever had--both personally and for my business accounts. The final issue that pushed me to close all of my accounts was their mishandling of a vehicle insurance situation. I had active insurance coverage and provided documentation--multiple times, including physically delivering it to their office where it was signed for. Despite this, they failed to process it correctly and attempted to backdate and charge me for force-placed insurance. Instead of resolving their internal mistake, they continued to request the same information again, creating unnecessary delays and financial stress. This is not an isolated issue. I have also dealt with repeated "fraud" flags that were never properly investigated or explained. Even worse, my debit cards were shut off multiple times with no notification whatsoever--no call, no text, no email. There were no suspicious transactions, no explanation--just suddenly being unable to access my own money. That is completely unacceptable. On top of that, interactions with staff across multiple branches have been consistently disappointing. There is a clear lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. At times, the tone has been dismissive and unhelpful, especially when trying to resolve serious account issues. For an institution that claims to be "for people, not profit," my experience has been the exact opposite. The level of disorganization, lack of follow-through, and disregard for customers' time and finances is alarming. I have since closed all of my accounts and would strongly caution others--especially small business owners--before trusting Alliance Credit Union with their finances. read more

We deposited our check at the end of the second week of the month and they're saying it won't be available till the 31st they don't care that we are living off credit cards because they are holding our money hostage the worst banking experience I have ever had read more

Customer service is horrible. I can't deposit checks from my phone or their itm . Most of the time their app doesn't work either. I have talked with them several times and they could care less. Not a good place to bank with at all. read more

Joined several years ago by opening an account online. Very quick and easy and did it from my couch. Later got a car loan and was connected online with a loan officer. Even though we have never met in person she was extremely helpful and even months later available to answer questions by phone or email. I was not a big fan of the ITM teller machine at first but that was because I had never used one. Now I find it extremely quick and easy. They have offered shred days multiple times which is a great way to safely dispose of sensitive documents. All in all very pleased with the service and my experience. read more

So far so good. I thought that they were like on other credit unions that would give you a loan with no credit check, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Otherwise they are pretty good. read more

The staff is always friendly and professional. Very relaxed atmosphere, and I never have to wait!

Great bank overall, excellent customer service and abundance of locations in Lubbock. New and updated technology that allows for overall smooth transactions and convenience. However, app could possibly use an update. read more

Alliance has been such a blessing to my family and I over the last 4 years with banking and financing vehicles for us. They have worked with us during some tough times when I had to be out of work to take care of my elderly grandfather until he passed away, they were flexible with our auto loan payments during that time. read more

After paying $20 for a wire transfer to help my elderly mother cover her bills, and waiting 4 business days, the transfer was never completed, and I was never informed from Alliance credit union. I went down to local 82nd and University location, to see what happened. Local branch manager Mary Mata was condescending, disrespectful and generally unhelpful. I attempted to contact her manager Judy Alvarado, but after a week of calls, messages and patiently waiting, I have not heard back and am left with nothing to do but leave this review, and close all my accounts with Alliance credit union. Please be aware of these customer un-friendly practices before you choose to lend this place your hard earned money. read more

I had such a positive experience with Alliance! They were so responsive, and helpful. I got a first time auto loan with a great interest rate and I couldn't be happier. Jose answered all of my questions and was so patient with me. I highly recommend! read more

Worst possible bank you could ever work at or bank with with alliance credit union for multiple years and my wife also worked for them for a few years. Her two year anniversary was yesterday at the job. We have ran into financial hardship much like a lot of other people here locally within the past year, but I've managed to keep up with all of my loan payments and everything else never being a month behind realistically never being a few more than a few weeks behind. Things have been really hard. So let me tell you this is how lines credit union wants to help you. I talked with the main manager of the bank last week and told him that I will have money for him today. To be able to make the payment keep in mind this car payment is still not a month behind. I have gotten the money was literally on the way to the bank. They called my wife over to the other bank because apparently they were shorthanded They then fired her. I will not be giving alliance credit union another cent. ever again they can come get their cars. I will let them go back on repo and they can continue to look like the used car turning into here in the Lubbock Texas area. around any other banks do you see any car sitting out in lot for sale? I don't think so. Seems that alliance is the only one because they like to screw everyone into the deals. Keep this in mind and never bank with alliance please share. read more

I tried to set up an account online assuming it would be an easy process. Well guess what it's not. Took almost 10 days just to get the account set up. I provided debit card information for them to fund the account. The sales person campos was not very responsive at all! On a Thursday i sent an email asking for username and password since that wasn't provided she did not respond until that Thursday! So then they proceeded to close my account. read more

We had an appointment with Mrs. Larissa Cable. She is now our Mortgage Loan Officer. I simply want to say that she is wonderful to work with. First of, she is very easy to talk to and she got right to point. She was helpful through out the entire process. She answered all of our questions in ways we understood. She made herself available to any questions or concerns we may have through out the process of buying a home. I highly recommend her and I'm thrilled she was recommend to us. Thank you. read more

I would like to specifically compliment Camie Crump and Noah Shedd who work at Alliance. I just opened an account with Alliance, Camie went above and beyond to assist me. I did not wait long, Camie noticed I was waiting for service and immediatley assisted me. So friendly and a good person! Very professional, smart person who really cares about people. Very patient and knowledgeable in explaining the process. As I was departing, Noah approached me and struck up a cool conversation with me, very friendly and professional, a good guy. If you wish to open an account, see Camie or Noah, they will take good care you. read more

After paying $20 for a wire transfer, to help my elderly mother cover her bills, and waiting 4 business days for the wire transfer to go through, I received a call from my distraught mother that the money never arrived. I headed down to Alliance credit union, who's motto is "for people, not profit", and was spoken down to by local branch manager Mary Mata when she told me that obviously, since it didn't go through, I gave them the wrong numbers. She then shrugged and told me the money was back in my account. I attempted to explain its not about the money, and I would have appreciated hearing back when there was a problem. I was interrupted multiple times, and then when I got bothered and asked her to stop interrupting me, I was scoffed at. I asked for Mary's manager, and was told my request to speak to them would be passed along, and if the were interested in speaking to me, they would be in touch. I called the main phone number and made several requests to speak to Mary's manager, Judy Alvarado, but received no response. I have since closed all my accounts with Alliance Credit Union, and recommending to anyone who will listen, that they should NOT do business with this financial institution. read more

I went into this bank expecting to deposit a large amount of money into a couple of accounts. As I was waiting a rude woman came out of the back somewhere and asked if I had been helped, I informed her that had not, she rudely told me just talk to a teller and they could help me out, I really believe that a personal banker type person should have helped me in one of the offices instead of waiting on a teller to help me with all of my needs, I walked out and will NEVER return to the rude employees that this bank decides to hire!!! Very unprofessional and rude!! read more

High interest even with low credit. They will not work with you. I was told: "I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do". Went elsewhere and received better service and an extremely low interest rate. I have only been with Alliance for a couple of months. I opened a checking account there because I had always heard that credit unions are better than banks when it comes to certain things like borrowing money. I'm 18 years old and this is my first account. When I opened the account they said a 10-day hold would be placed on any checks I deposited within the first 30 days of opening the account. So...the other day I went to withdraw some money from a check that I deposited a few days earlier... that I had received as a scholarship from a local business. Keep in mind, my account has been open for a couple of months now. First off, their "system was down" and all the customers were just standing around when I walked in. After about 30 minutes, I tried to withdraw the money and they said I couldn't because the check was "flagged" and on hold. I asked why...and they said it was because they never received a check from this business before. I told the teller that's not what I was told when opening the account, that after 30 days of the account being open then checks would post immediately, and asked if she could call someone to get it released. She made a couple of calls and both people she talked to said that they wouldn't release it. While she was on the phone, a man in the next window was complaining to his teller that his debit card was being declined all weekend...even though he had money in his account. All in all, I have had a bad experience with this credit union and would not recommend it for a checking account. P.S. They are STILL holding that scholarship check and it's been 7 days since it was deposited. read more

Was trying to get a loan and couldn't get any form of communication from them. When I called they couldn't tell me anything about it.

Went in to one of the locations today ta make a payment. After completing this transaction, I asked for change for $10. I was told "We can't do that" even though I had been a customer there for over 10 years! My account was closed for lack of service and backward banking practices, Don't waste your time trying to deal with this clueless mom-and-pop operation. Do business with a real bank. read more

I have been banking with Alliance for the past 6 years and I have tried very hard to "understand" their small town mentality. However, this bank (I use the term loosely) continues to make it hard to do "bank things" that other banks can and will do. Today was the day that they told me to go to Western Union because they are unable to do international wire transfers. I will be closing all of my accounts at this podunk bank and moving to the real thing - six years has been long enough. read more

Friendly staff but their policies just keep getting worse. I've banked there since before they became Alliance. With their Visa card I can't buy groceries totalling over $100 as a credit card purchase. No, I have to use the card as a debit card and accept less consumer protection. Despite having never deposited a bad check they still place a ten day hold on checks over a few hundred dollars. This is especially frustrating when depositing a local, certified check. Why can't they just call to verify? The worst was when I had my account cleaned out by theives on The Apple store. I reported it to Alliance and filed a police report. Finally I got paid and they let $400 in fraudulent charges come through from the same outfit. The excuse was that they were already authorized so they could not be stopped. read more

Firstly, I must explain this 1 star rating. I have banked there since late 2006 and have been really pleased; namely everyone I talked to, regardless of the situation, was always friendly, courteous and overall willing to help their customers. Sadly, today, I had a run in with someone in account services who was incredibly rude from the outset. *short back story* Essentially, last week I was told to fax a series of papers in order to complete a process and get things taken care of. I faxed the papers today and was immediately met with a phone call from a rude woman in this dept. She immediately began telling me that no on in her office would have told me to fax what I had. At one point in the conversation, i was laughed at and was more or less called a liar. She never even stopped to investigate the issue further and even questioned whether or not I had spoken with someone last week b/c I could not produce a name when asked (I have one, but am out of town due to death in the family, so i could not give her name) which to her meant I was lying and she could be a terrible person and continued to berate me. This has left such a terrible taste in my mouth. I am lodging a formal complaint with the bank as well, as I've never been talked to like this ever before. She was condescending, rude, and she certainly has no business working with people, period. I am a small business owner and I know I would fire without hesitation any one of my employees for even approaching the tone and demeanor this women took with me. Absurd. read more
