Honestly I have brought a lot of business here over the past couple of years. I have never had any…read moreissues and am always treated with respect. Recently I had to bring my DJ equipment in to pawn as I needed money. My equipment was brand new with a brand new specially ordered flight case from Native Instruments for my Traktor Kontrol S8. It was in there for a few months. when the day finally came that I could go and liberate my equipment I was greeted with an unfortunate surprise. My brand new flight case seemed to be warped and was not properly closing. I also noticed a small dent on one of the metal edges of the case. I said is it maybe humidity that caused this damage as the front window of the shop has been missing for about the last half a year or so. he said no that wasn't it... I asked well what happened because you guys wouldn't have taken it in this condition. I was not answered to my satisfaction but was just happy to have my stuff back so I left, But I really shouldn't have. a week or so later I plugged my equipment in and felt a shock of fear when one of the screens on my equipment malfunctioned and glitched out... I updated the software and hoped this would fix the issue. The glitch has not occurred again since but I have only used it once since then. However the case was brand new and had cost me almost $300 I am disappointed in the condition in which it was returned to me. I am not saying I won't ever return here but I will be much more choosy with what I decide to leave there. I don't want to jump to assumptions but the few times I've brought it up with staff the issue was deflected or ignored really. I am worried that perhaps my equipment had fallen or been possibly damaged and I have not been fully informed. perhaps the damage is just cosmetic but I feel I should be reimbursed for the case which is not in the same condition it was when I brought it in.

Absolutely a buisiness with Integrity. The owner David is fair, honest and gives best value on your…read morejewelry. This was my experience...in fact, my first! Furthermore, he explained how my decision to take only a percentage of the monetary value he offered me was a smart one given my circumstances. I had not realized what I had was so valued and I had only needed to borrow a certain amount for few days. Of course I threw in a little bit of spending for me! In addition, he gave me a brief explanation of how a Pawn Shop all worked. He showed me a chart of how much he would make as the amount incremented. Hence, the extra amount I would have to pay back! I was grateful for his integrity. Thank you David! Kindly, Deborah

The Hobby Centre - Largest selection of kits I've seen in over 30 years

Hobby shops like this simply do not exist anymore in New York which used to have a slew of them when building plastic models was popular. There are still a couple of mom & pop places scattered around but not on the scale of the Hobby Centre. Kids these days only interact in the virtual world and hobbies like this will eventually fade away. But in the meantime, I'm going to hoard as many plastic model kits that will fit in my house. My favorite theme for building and painting plastic models are World War II planes, so I was on the hunt for a 1/72 B-17G Flying Fortress or maybe a B-29 Superfortress. Airfix (from the UK) is one of my favorite brands and they stock a lot of their line here, but neither bomber were in stock on this trip. The hunt goes on. They did have a new release of the Avro Lancaster, which I have been searching high and low. I also picked up an Italeri JAS-39 Gripen and a vintage Airfix BAC Lightning. Prices are pretty good, especially on the older vintage kits along the back wall. With the favorable US$ exchange rate, I got some good deals. If I had spent more time here, I definitely would have blown through all the cash in my wallet, never mind my spending limit on my credit card. I just might have to make a return trip to Canada with a large trailer!
