What brings me here today? Well, my daughter's boyfriend planned a picnic for his family and friends. This park is up in the Oakland Hills and in a somewhat different environment compared to several parks that I have been to in Oakland - Mosswood Park, DeFremery Park and Middle Harbor Shoreline Park for picnics. Less noise, hardly any sea gulls waiting to pounce on any remnant of food on the ground, no riff raffs crashing a picnic. Our group was situated in one area of the park with plenty of picnic tables and a bbq pit. I noticed further away was a play area for families with children. Usually I would get up and start exploring. However, old age has crept up on me. I just sat, ate my food and put in two requests for music. (No diggity...gotta bag it up...Blackstreet in the house followed with Groove Me by Guy). Always a hit at a picnic is Before I Let Go by the late Frankie Beverly and Maze. Perhaps I did not stay long enough to see if anybody was get them bones out for dominos or cards for spade. The weather got cold and I was tired.

Now that it is such a popular sport there is always somebody waiting. There is street parking which is free on Sundays, but otherwise paid. The park itself says no dogs allowed which is a minus. We do see dogs in the pickle ball area occasionally. As long as nobody's regulating, I guess they are fine. There are 4 courts and it can get a little annoying when the neighboring courts ball goes into your court since there's no barrier. There is cement stadium seating up on top so you can look down and watch the games if you like. Can get very sunny and windy depending on the day so be prepared! There are little benches on the size where you can place your stuff while you play. Be careful sitting on it, might be wobbly. Have not used the restrooms here, but heard sometimes they're closed or dirty. People usually go up to the Lucky supermarket around the corner to use the restroom.

This park is the 'activity' and sports park for the Marina and the adjoining areas - there is a sandlot playground for tots, and a big grassy area used for soccer and 4 softball/ baseball 'diamonds' with backstops. There's also a sort of chipping green, a batting 'cage'/ net, and 4 tennis courts. Place is popular after work with various sloshball leagues and whatnot, so plan accordingly. Moscone loses a star for the crowds and for the fact that, as one of the few places in SF where there's a public court that attracts ballers for a semi-regular pick-up run, the facilities aren't really that great...which leads me to the all-important basketball portion of this review... The hoops situation is erratic. There is a court on the east/ Laguna side that (to me) has a nicer surface, but usually has scrub games. The better runs are on the West/ Webster St. side, which is lighted, allowing after-hours ball. Try after work and in the AM on the weekend. There's usually a wait of some sort and can be a lot of smack being talked (standard). There's also a small and rather shabby 'Rec Center' building on Chestnut, which actually has a hoops court inside. But the place is weird: it's almost never open and even if you get in there, one of the rims is like 9'6" and the other is like 11', and it's dimly lit, so basically its useless. Basketball Jonze

The fields here are impeccably landscaped and the grass is glorious. I wanted to just lay down in it for awhile, but I was too busy fielding grounders and whipping some mean pitches. There is plenty of room to share with the fellow ballplayers, dog walkers, and little kids rolling around in the grass. Hooray for parks. And should you decide to play some catch & it's been awhile, watch out the next morning... when I woke up my arm felt like it had died. Lol.

Shout out to her old teacher, Miss Cindy and Miss Charity (I believe she left for schooling) because my daughter really liked them! They were great! Anyways, I walked in because my daughter has a clay class tonight and I was greeted instantly even though she was on the phone with another client. This place hasn't changed too much since I was last in here. It was nice and clean. A lot of seating in the lobby. I can't wait to see what she does in the clay class! It's a drop off only. I really enjoy these classes that the Antioch recreation center offers! A lot of selection and inexpensive. If you're a resident, you get a little discount too.

I could see people coming from miles away to get to here. I think the best part is probably the lighting. Its very bright and very fancy. That means if the sun sets it won't put an end to your fun. There is a gym equipment section near the entrance. Good for pullups or situps or stepups. When was the last time you did some of those? Lets be honest.... Toward the back there is a play structure. Good for young kids. It wasn't too popular I think because this park is known for the fields. So might be a good option if you want fewer kids around your own kids. Tons of parking. The lot is more than large enough. Overall the park is very clean and new. Its almost surprising that it is technically Hayward, CA. You just don't expect anything that nice from this city.

We have been to the new pickleball courts lately and if we're lucky, there are open spots, but sometimes people bring their whole crew there and are there for hours. Also, beware of dog poop -- a lot of irresponsible dog owners don't pick up after their dogs so watch where you are walking. This park has potential, it's just people don't respect it enough. There are a lot of options such as: soccer, basketball, picnic areas, tennis, pickleball, a play structure, walking path, etc, but it is not the cleanest park.

Dogs ok on a leash. I think different activities and classes are offered here although I never went to those. The park is open and has some street frontage which I like. More hidden parks that go deep with no public visibility I tend to enjoy less. Long ago there were some homeless that lived under the overhang of the library next door. They put up a very tall metal fence to keep them out. Again, its a great park but there are some problems with it. A good place to go if you live nearby. Although it has lots of offerings I don't think they would get somebody to drive miles to get to them.

Before I get to that, there is a softball field that is used a lot. My buddy informed me that his employer has a team that plays there. On the weekends there is softball/ little league baseball that plays their games there as well. The outfield is large enough to play soccer. What I find interesting is that it looks to be all turf. I haven't stepped foot into it but looking at it, doesn't look like dirt to me. There is also a really small jungle gym. These have to be the cleanest bathrooms I've ever been to at a park. Typically all park bathrooms are disgusting; like I don't even want to walk through, but these bathrooms are bearable. Parking is all on the street. People will mainly line up on Edgewater, but pro tip, if you park on the opposite side where the homes are, it is easier to find parking there. Finally, these are really nice tennis courts. My only gripe is that they are slanted - like really noticeably - and sometimes the ball will roll onto the other people's court due to inertia. Can be annoying but it is what it is. Overall there are 5 courts; three on one side and two on the other. The side with 3 courts has an isolated court and the other is side by side; the 2 sided court is the same. The courts are kept really well. No cracks and the nets are beautiful. Lighting is where its at. Hands down the brightest lights I've been to at a tennis court. Only downfall I've found is that there are a lot of classes and league play. This as of right now was every Tuesday & Thursday. This park isn't really meant to be used for parties or picnics. There isn't a lot of space for any of that. Pretty much, you play your sport and then go home (or somewhere else). I enjoy going to this park. Especially at night. The lighting for tennis is wondering. Super bright and easy to track the ball.

While I'm not a member, I have played many matches at this club over the years. And next to my…read moretennis club (Harbor Point), this is probably one of my favorite places to play in Marin. It's just a charming, off-the-beaten-path setting. Yet it's still close enough to downtown Mill Valley. The weather's always sunny. It never gets too windy. The courts are all well-maintained. The members are very Marin (but without the snooty attitude that you find at other clubs). They have a very cozy/casual clubhouse, complete with a full bar, kitchen, TV room, and ping pong table. It looks more like a camp clubhouse from the 70s. But that's kind of its charm. They have plenty of couches by the windows so you can watch matches on their two center courts while nursing a beer. Since it's a private club, they don't allow outside guests to purchase drinks (unless they're purchased by a member). I thought that was a bit strange. I even offered to pay cash, but they couldn't do it. However, for some reason, it was ok for me to pay by credit card (you figure that one out). That being said, the lady working the bar was very sweet and poured a tasty margarita. All in all, Mill Valley Tennis Club is a lovely addition to Marin County's recreational community, and I look forward to playing there again soon.

Well maintained pickle-ball courts and skate park! They also have events here, courts often close…read moreearly (8:30pm) for drive in movies. Pickle-ball has six courts. Three are up for reservation and three are for free play. After seven they are all free play. I recommend getting a reservation - the courts are always full on week nights. Was not very busy on Saturday around noon. The skate park is right next to the courts and can make the area pretty loud. It also gets pretty packed on week nights. The parking lot is big, I've never had trouble finding a spot, even when it is busy. There is also a lot of street parking nearby if it does get full.
