At no point was there any mention of a payment deadline or a time-sensitive requirement for securing the agreed price. After I sent the Venmo payment as instructed, I was surprised to learn that the price had suddenly increased to three times the original amount we discussed. I appreciate that you refunded my payment quickly, but the experience left me feeling disappointed and confused. As a parent, clear and consistent communication is very important, especially when it comes to planning and budgeting for my kids' activities. Practices like changing the price after an agreement--without prior notice--can be frustrating and may deter families from signing up or recommending your camp to others. I hope you'll consider making your policies and timelines more transparent in the future, so families know exactly what to expect.

What brings me here today? Well, my daughter's boyfriend planned a picnic for his family and friends. This park is up in the Oakland Hills and in a somewhat different environment compared to several parks that I have been to in Oakland - Mosswood Park, DeFremery Park and Middle Harbor Shoreline Park for picnics. Less noise, hardly any sea gulls waiting to pounce on any remnant of food on the ground, no riff raffs crashing a picnic. Our group was situated in one area of the park with plenty of picnic tables and a bbq pit. I noticed further away was a play area for families with children. Usually I would get up and start exploring. However, old age has crept up on me. I just sat, ate my food and put in two requests for music. (No diggity...gotta bag it up...Blackstreet in the house followed with Groove Me by Guy). Always a hit at a picnic is Before I Let Go by the late Frankie Beverly and Maze. Perhaps I did not stay long enough to see if anybody was get them bones out for dominos or cards for spade. The weather got cold and I was tired.

Now that it is such a popular sport there is always somebody waiting. There is street parking which is free on Sundays, but otherwise paid. The park itself says no dogs allowed which is a minus. We do see dogs in the pickle ball area occasionally. As long as nobody's regulating, I guess they are fine. There are 4 courts and it can get a little annoying when the neighboring courts ball goes into your court since there's no barrier. There is cement stadium seating up on top so you can look down and watch the games if you like. Can get very sunny and windy depending on the day so be prepared! There are little benches on the size where you can place your stuff while you play. Be careful sitting on it, might be wobbly. Have not used the restrooms here, but heard sometimes they're closed or dirty. People usually go up to the Lucky supermarket around the corner to use the restroom.

There are well-organized open plays with loaner paddles available. There's a solid system to rotate which players go on when a court opens up (paddle racks). It's $2-5 donation for open play only to cover costs of renting courts for the lead volunteer hosts. There are also clinics, drills, round robins and other pickleball events. The field is turf which makes for a nice give for doing exercises on foot. There's also a great set of stairs to run m and work the glutes and hammies while also raising the heart rate for cardio. Getting to the field can be daunting depending upon where you park. The track is marked for any distance you choose to run. There's almost always people working out, running, playing soccer, or training in the mornings and on the weekend. Remember, this is a school so you're unable to access the track during school hours.

I go to LEVY every Thursday from Pittsburg for their Thursday evening KPop class and it is WORTH…read more tl;dr: The studio is a great space with everything dancers need and the K-Pop-Up SF class is fun and totally worth a 45min to 1 hour drive every week. CLASS & TIME: The class is $7 and hosted by K-Pop-Up SF every Thursday evening at 7:30pm-8:30pm. Perfect timing coming from the East Bay because toll goes down to $4 after 7:00 and I drive there. I have been on one exhibition hip hop team, one hip hop competition team, one KPop competition team, and one KPop exhibition team prior to taking these classes. None of those teams or their classes have been as welcoming and friendly as K-Pop-Up SF has been when I went to my first class. There is a safety waiver, but the classes arent dangerous and they dont force you outside your comfort level, so it's perfect for all levels and ages (there is a second waiver for minors that requires an adult to sign as well). The teachers rotate each week and each of them teach a little differently and handle different types of songs, but all of them are kind and help with questions when needed. Rock M. Sakura teaches JPop choreography every first Thursday (their J-Pop-Up night) and these classes are always upbeat and fun and usually have slightly easier choreography that is fast and gets you sweating! Mindy teaches boy group choreography every third and fifth Thursday and these tend to be a bit harder in their details and quick, small movements and footwork. Despite that, Mindy makes each dance fun and easy to learn and answers questions really well. Francesca and Cash Monet take turns teaching girl groups on second and fourth Thursdays. Both of them teach well and add sass to the dances. My favorite part of their classes is when they tell you where you can add your own flair and encourage expressing yourself. They helped make dance fun again for me, to be completely honest. LOCATION: Coming off of the Bay Bridge I take the Civic Center and 9th exit and I'm basically there. The parking isnt super great, but there is plenty of nearby street parking. The studio itself is easy to find as Heron is just a small alley, which might look intimidating at first but my friends and I have never had a safety issue here and there are so many people a few feet away on 8th Street. It's really nice inside, the studio has a waiting room, two gender neutral bathrooms, some moveable seating, and so much space. There is air conditioning if the room gets really hot and crowded, so it's never uncomfortable in the studio.

They mostly mind their own business, but as a woman walking solo at night, it made me a bit on edge.

There are various soccer fields - and then the multipurpose field in the middle. Not very many people ever - so if you want privacy or your dog isn't good with socializing with other dogs this is the place for you. The field was so green. I suppose it is a result of all the rain recently. I have some memories of eating fancy dinners right across in the Homeport Officers Club. There was a bar with views and dinner with live music - even as a little kid I could tell it was a special place. Today that building is abandoned the entrance (which was grand) as a 6 year old is all rusty and missing. There is a jet plane on display and the high security checkpoint where you would drive in back when it was a Navy station.

He wasn't able to play there after it was retrofitted in 2010 with a new electric scoreboard, an expanded scorer's booth behind the backstop, and a pristine artificial-turf outfield to save money on maintaining grass. If my softball compadres from Culver City's two semi-acceptable fields were to step onto Hawes, they'd likely think they, too, had gone to that sparkling diamond in the sky. However, Hawes Field only permits coed and senior rec softball for adults; left field is too shallow for men's leagues despite the tall outfield fence, said the field supervisor before a Sunday coed game. Longballs that clear the barrier count as a third out, and the batter is ejected for that game and the next, she said. Ample parking borders the left side of the field, but the fences along the sidewalk cannot contain high foul balls, and posted signs clearly warn of that risk. She said sunflower seeds are forbidden inside the facility because removing the shells requires vacuuming (dream on), and they clog drains when it rains. A variety of youth sports are played at Hawes, as in other cities' multi-use parks, but its turf withstands that beating, unlike grass outfields that degrade into wasteland until reseeded. You can bet that the field doesn't host annual city festivals (e.g. La Ballona in Culver City) featuring pony rides and carnival attractions. Northern California natives chortled at the news some 40 years ago when Astroturf replaced grass on (irony) Lawndale's Hawthorne Boulevard medians. They mocked L.A. as being "plastic." Today, city coffers are emptier for whatever reasons, water is scarce and, even in Bay Area parks, plastic is beginning to look divine.
