Friendly and courteous crew. All furniture was protected and moved efficiently. Good communication with placement at the other end too.

I like this storage company overall and I am torn about the rating. I guess I will say 4.5 stars…read moreand round up to 5 stars. Pros: 1. I think it is slightly cheaper that the other storage company, at least in some sizes, which is not to say that it is cheap. I asked both about the prices of next size up from what I have and it was 20 dollars a month cheaper here. Also, when I started renting here two years ago, I got one month free. 2. I like the hours of this location. It is open until 7 pm every weeknight, and I often come in after 5 pm. 3. The people who work here are nice. The woman who was here today was really cheerful and friendly. I left at exactly 7 pm, on the dot, but she was really nice about it. 4. I like it that they have a website with a price list, and that it is also posted on the door. So far I have managed to fit everything into my space, but I am motivated to get rid of stuff when I think about moving to a bigger unit. Cons: 1. The issue that has made me think about moving to the other company, from time to time, is the parking. The lot itself is an uneven shape.(there is a creek next to this building). They have an automotive store on one end of the building and a pool company on the other side. Both park a lot of vehicles here after 5 pm when I tend to show up. Since the parking lot is an uneven shape some of the larger vehicles really don't fit very well, at least if you need to drive past them. It is angle parking and sort of difficult to turn around, if you don't think you can drive through the right way. Today, there was one space when I showed up in front of the new business (The Green Moustache), that they are opening next to the pool place, which may make it just as crowded during lunch as after 5pm. :/ Parking in Function Junction is strange in several locations, not just this one though. I do understand that the creek is a natural feature and it's not really anyone's fault that the large vans and trucks don't fit very well near the garage. I just wish there was more parking for the larger vehicles. Overall, the A One U Lock has worked out pretty well for me, and I am happy I rented a unit here.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!…read more I have to move every 2-5 years, and I can honestly say this was THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Normally, I write positive reviews for my movers, but not this time. Unfortunately, my favorite moving company closed down after COVID, so I was forced to find someone new to move my stored belongings from North Vancouver to Los Angeles. I was all set to use PODS, but at the last minute, I found out my storage unit wouldn't allow overnight parking of the POD, and PODS doesn't have same-day drop-off/pick-up. In a panic, I called around to find an alternative. All the good companies were booked (that should have been my first clue!). The owner, Joe, who is a GREAT salesman over the phone, agreed to do the job ALL IN at $8,000 CAD. I gave him a deposit of $2,000 on a different credit card, and he sent me a picture of the receipt via text. We confirmed over text message that there would be two stops in LA: one at my apartment and one at my storage unit. This was even written on the receipt he sent me. Here is what transpired: Joe called me the week before my move, complaining about not being able to take a rental truck to the U.S. and becoming really busy, implying that this trip was getting in the way. He even asked if I could delay getting my things until August, after we agreed upon the date of July 17th, and I had changed my plane ticket to come back early to receive the truck. Upon arrival on the 17th, Joe constantly complained about his workers and let me know that he couldn't find anyone decent. He was slow and inefficient, spending a large portion of his time either answering his phone, making calls, or telling me stories about how feared and revered he was by the border agents or how badass he was when he was in the military (psychological tactics to try and make me feel intimidated). My boyfriend had to jump in and help unload the storage unit and carry things to the truck, or else we would have been there an extra 2-3 hours. After loading the truck, Joe presented me with a bill of $7600 CAD instead of the agreed $6000 CAD, adding $1200 for mileage and gas and $400 for taxes. When I questioned him, he threatened to unload the truck and leave my belongings on the road if I didn't pay. Under duress, I paid the extra $400. On the day of the move: Joe texted me at 6:39 am saying he was 5 hours out but arrived 4.5 hours late at 3:11 pm. He arrived with one other person because he couldn't find another worker with a passport and complained about having to move items himself, which he said he no longer does. Half of the items meant for my apartment were packed at the front of the van. Joe agreed to return to my apartment after the storage unit drop-off with the items he didn't want to find. Inside my apartment, he didn't have any tools to assemble my bed as promised, so I had to provide my own and help his worker, Hammas, while Joe berated him and did nothing. At the storage unit, I ended up moving half the furniture myself because Joe and Hammas were slow and unorganized. Joe stayed in the truck for the first few hours, complaining about how long it was taking. Around 7:00 pm, Joe abruptly decided to leave, citing low blood sugar, and left my furniture in the street, parking lot, and hallway. My boyfriend had to leave work to help me, and we didn't finish in time, resulting in a $100 fine for being locked in the storage facility. I have filed a credit card dispute for not completing the job, abandoning my items, not delivering items back to my apartment as agreed, attempting extortion, and the time and effort my boyfriend and I had to invest to finish the job. Save yourself the headache and find a reputable moving company. North Van Mover is not it.

North Van Movers made our moving day so much smoother than I could have hoped. The team was…read moreextremely professional - on time, courteous, quick, and treated our stuff with the same care we'd treat it with. We were moving out of a 4th floor heritage apartment walk-up and they didn't have any issues. The owner even stopped by an hour into the move just to make sure everything was going okay. Would use again and recommend to anyone looking for reliable movers.

Curtis returned my call within minutes he was professional upfront, and I had a quote within a half an hour. It saved me time to phone other movers as I felt comfortable in his professionalism. I had somewhat of a complicated move a full storage unit and a second location for pick up. I said I had a budget within the range he gave me and wanted to stay close to it as possible. Levi gave me a call prior to meeting me and said that they were there. David, Christopher and Levi were outstanding. They were quick, careful with my possessions, were quick, kind and courteous. I was only $22 over my budget. I was happy to tip them so they could buy themselves a sub and a beer for a job. Well done. More than happy to provide this review, and I would highly recommend low budget moving. Thanks again. Jodi.

Short Version: Broke tons of stuff. Quoted $800, showed up and said that it shouldn't take too…read morelong. Billed $1400. Not even remotely competent Longer Version: Talked to Curtis. He seemed great and he gave what I thought was a fair quote. We were moving a basement suite and had 40-50 boxes and few other large items (dresser, wardrobe etc.) They showed up early, seemed courteous and professional. Assessed the situation and said that everything looked good. We had everything in boxes, labelled and organized. They said 2 hours to get it out at the most. Then things went downhill...fast. The two workers started arguing that about whether they should bring another guy to help. The one said they shouldn't but eventually they asked me if they should. I let them know it was fine because I like to trust people to do a good job. They said it wouldn't be more expensive because although I have to pay for each person, they would be more efficient. Reasonable. Noon rolls around and they're still not packed. Remember they said 2 hours tops then brought in another guy to help. So, it should be way under 2 hours, but we are at 4+. I started to notice that the new guy they brought has been on his phone most of the time. Seems like he's putting out fires things for Low Budget Moving. Fair enough, but not really something I want to pay for. The other guys don't really seem to be moving boxes and working hard when I see them in my suite, but when I go up, then their just chatting and doing nothing. I think this was the chief the reason that 2 hours for 2 people became 5 hours for 3 people. That is on the cost side of things, but that's not all. When they showed up they said they would insure only solid wood furniture to be moved without damage. They didn't want to insure cheap IKEA furniture or already packed boxes. That seems fair to me. They broke 2 solid wood pieces of furniture. Replaced none and offered no compensation. One table they admitted to breaking. They just fell on it and broke it. Admitted it and did nothing. The China cabinet they refused to admit they broke but kind of in the same way that a child with chocolate on their face rufuses to admin they are responsible for the missing chocolate. They took some parts of the cabinet and said they'd look into replacing it, but then ghosted me. Lastly, they just sucked at moving. I have a hundred stories from the day but the one that illustrates it best is this. We asked them to move a wardrobe into a corner that they had placed in the middle of the room. It need to be moved about 2 meters. They were struggling to move it, crawling around on their knees, pushing it then putting it down, then and trying to figure out how to move it. Eventually after my wife and watching for a while, we just moved it. It took about 15 seconds for us (minus the few minutes of watching them struggle to do their job). We aren't strong, just healthy 30-year-olds who aren't getting paid by the hour. All in all they were just not competent at the basic task, did not actually work, and broke or damaged a lot of items. Try someone else. Literally any one.
