The staff is refreshingly friendly and never rushes me or hovers over me. Just the way I like to shop! I think this is especially important to mention because a lot of their merchandise is religious based so it is a unique experience that needs to be savored. Today, I purchased some Christmas Home Decor that I will treasure for years! I also stopped in their treasured Prayer Room. It is a little area in the center of the room where you can write down prayers on a tag and hang it on the wall. Others are encouraged to take a tag and become a Prayer Warrior for the person who left the prayer. Today, was a very impactful visit for me. I went into Philanthropy with a heavy heart because we found out our good friend that has been battling cancer was moved to hospice. The prayer room gave me peace & I left feeling a little lighter. Thank you Philanthropy for providing such a beautiful space that brings peace to so many! Whether you are on a visit or a local of TN be sure to stop here & experience this special place!

For the price and the way the item was represented, that is unacceptable. What has been even more frustrating is trying to get help. I have called five times and have repeatedly been told someone would call me back, but no one has followed through. First, they said the owner was out of the country, and the last 4 calls they promised a callback after speaking to the owner and manager. Still haven't heard back from them. The store presents itself as a Christian business and has a prayer room inside, which makes the lack of accountability and customer care especially disappointing. I expected the product to be better quality and, at the very least, for someone to follow up and make it right. I hope the store resolves this promptly and begins treating customer concerns with the integrity its branding suggests.

They have a great selection of shoes at discounted prices. From casual sandals, sneakers, boots to dressy shoes for a black tie affair, you can find it there, If you are lucky, you can find a pair of designer shoes at a real bargain. Tney have all sizes. Inventory changes frequently so stop by often. I needed some "bling" shoes for a sneaker ball event. I was able to find the Betsy Johnson bling sneakers for half the price I would have paid at the local department store. I also picked up a couple pair of sandals. The service is very friendly and staff is super helpful with finding shoes. I highly recommend if you are looking for new shoes.

Earlier this year, I walked into a large display of party-affiliated socks, shirts, and other items. It felt out of place and made me uncomfortable--especially since it didn't seem to represent all viewpoints. I told myself I wouldn't return. When I tried it again recently, the same thing happened. To my surprise, a younger employee walked in and immediately removed the display, saying, "I told them not to put this stuff out. We are not doing politics." Moments later, an older employee at the register loudly told her to "put it back." The tension between staff was uncomfortable and, honestly, embarrassing. I shop here for shoes, handbags, and clothes--not politics. I applaud the employee who tried to redirect the focus back to the customer experience. Unfortunately, this incident left a bad impression. I hope Marti & Liz will take this feedback seriously and prioritize creating an inclusive and neutral shopping environment where all customers feel welcome.

The architecture alone is worth the visit, a preserved 1901 gem with rich wood, exposed brick, and ornate touches that make the place feel more like a museum than a retail store. But make no mistake: this store is alive and buzzing with charm, boots, and damn good people. We were greeted immediately by a tall gal (whose name I regret not asking) who handed my wife a sparkling water with all the grace of a Southern debutante. While my wife was lovingly coached through boot options by Suzie, aka the female Johnny Cash, I struck up a conversation with Bob, who told me the backstory of how he ended up with Tecovas. The man has stories that could fill a leather-bound novel. The entire vibe? Relaxed, intentional, human. No rush, no pressure, no chaos, just folks who clearly love what they do. That's a far cry from the hustle and bustle of some other Tecovas locations (cough cough South Congress in Austin). Even though this store has only been open a couple of weeks, you'd never know it. Everything ran smooth, the displays were beautiful, and the service was polished like a new pair of ropers. We walked out with a couple of small items and a whole lot of gratitude for such a stellar experience. Franklin, y'all got a treasure.
