No one approached me as I sorted through their pretty good selection looking for one with a tone I liked. But when I was ready to talk business, they were ready to help. House of Note recently restored my late Grandmother's 140+ year-old violin and did an excellent…read morejob. It came out much better than I ever thought it could. A small crack was repaired, bridge and tailpiece replaced, new strings, some rough and chipped wood cleaned up, and the varnish was cleaned and restored. It looks and sounds 100% better, but still has the look and feel of an old instrument. Technician Ty did the repairs and worked with me to hold the costs down and restore this precious family instrument. All costs were explained up-front and everything was clear. Plus it was done the exact day when promised. I'm very happy with the work and service. THANK YOU!

My cello was "born" in 1970 in West Germany. I've had it for over 20 years and it has been through…read moreeverything with me! My cello is a real workhorse and I've played gigs all over the country including many places outside: the beach, farms, orchards, gardens.. I even did a wedding in drizzling rain where I had to walk a quarter mile through the forest without my case. So naturally it has gotten a bit dinged up along the way. It has always played good and although I knew eventually I should take it into a shop, I was never able to afford to until very recently. I came to House of Note with my concerns: some new cracks, the neck was all messed up, the wood needed to be cleaned and conditioned, my fine tuners were so full of rosin I could barely use them, new strings, and my bow needed TLC. Everyone was super helpful at the shop and over the phone. It took about a week and $900 later (totally reasonable considering all that they did and how much work it needed), my cello looks and sounds better than ever!! They even helped me fix an issue with my case so that I didn't need to purchase a new one. I'm new to Minnesota and am going to begin teaching again. Although it is about a 45 minute drive for me, and probably over an hour for my new students, I am definitely going to send them here. Highly recommended for all your string instrument needs!

There is nothing NOT to love about Sarah Jane's! I've been taking piano lessons with Sarah for a…read morecouple of months now, and it is always low-pressure but so educational. Sarah is a patient, sweet teacher who is so talented that I doubt there's any level of pianist she can't teach. The space itself is bright and welcoming, with one big open room with a piano, in addition to several smaller rooms down the hallway. They offer lessons in voice, tons of strings (guitar, violin, mandolin, and more), brass, and pretty much every other instrument you could think of. Everyone I've met has been as gracious as Sarah, and you can tell they are all total pros. They also have a refreshing focus on kiddos, with $5 drop-in music classes a few times a week for babies as young as a few months old and lessons tailored toward the young musicians among us. Plus, you can stop and reward yourself with coffee + tasty bread treats at Aki's before or after, just because you've been such an awesome student. I'm a mom, so the time I have to practice is pretty limited. That never matters, though, because we always work on whatever I'm comfortable with. Sarah is amazing and makes me want to be able to play everything from classical to jazz to good ol' rock 'n roll. If you want a fun, engaging, relaxing music education, Sarah Jane's is definitely the way to go!
