I'll continue to update this review as we move through the process. -------------------------------------------- We hired Nelson Landscaping to improve our poolside area in Edmond, aiming for something cohesive and functional. While the crews were great, the rest of the experience left us frustrated--and stuck with a space that doesn't work. We were sold on flagstone set in decomposed granite (DCG), but in reality it's totally impractical for a pool patio. The DCG is rough on bare feet and constantly washes into the pool, staining our new concrete. Worst of all, the amount of flagstone was drastically underquoted. When I pointed this out, they came back with filler pieces, which helped visually--but it's still not functional. The area is uncomfortable and not practical for furniture or barefoot traffic, which was the entire point of the project. Communication was poor. We were rarely informed when crews would show up, and a comment from the salesman ("all you women want to see what it's going to look like") when I asked for visuals was unprofessional and frustrating. A concrete crack formed within a month, which is still unaddressed a year later as no one returned my multiple calls. I even reached out to the owner whose email address is listed on the website and still only heard back from our salesman. The crews did great work--but the planning, oversight, and professionalism were severely lacking. If you're hiring Nelson Landscaping for pool area landscaping, flagstone patios, or outdoor design in Edmond, ask a lot of questions and don't rely on them to act like the experts. We learned the hard way.

Unfortunately we LEARNED AN EXPENSIVE LE$$ON. Key points in this review *Appointment moved back a day because Elliott roofing had to move it. (24 hrs notice) *Crew late - appointment was for morning - showed up at 5 mins til 5pm. I called to confirm they were coming every hour after 12 noon. *Nails left in yard (My two toddlers in my backyard daily) *Shingles mismatched -Very noticable (see pictures) So at the end of the day did our roof get repaired.... Yes. Did it fix the leak...still to be determined as it hasn't rained. If it needs repaired again I will update this review. Sadly we used Elliott roofing after I trusted the words that the guy who inspected it (Hollis) and sold me on his company. I was sure we would get great service and a great job done. He explained that the shingles would be very close to where we wouldn't notice a difference in the shingles. However when the crew showed up and they argued about the shingles being the wrong color.... I don't speak great Spanish but I did catch that. -1 Star The nervous me started calling on the hour after noon struck and I hadn't heard or seen anything of a crew being late or even coming at all. Poor communication in my perspective. -1 Star Anyone reading this have small children? Imagine them going to play in the backyard only to discover a plethora of nails the crew left behind scattered around the patio/grass. Makes you feel good and safe huh? -1 Star So I call and talk to a very understanding Amy (not sure of spelling my apologies) she says the invoice that went out might be able to be adjusted after I had called her shortly after the crew left. Five stars is not really enough to get across how happy we are with his work. Earlier this summer, we found ourselves in a position no one wants to be in: dealing with an unexpected family loss. Compounding this situation was the fact that it occurred in a city that was not our own. Moving forward from this experience was going to be hard enough, but it also came with some pretty substantial home repair/renovation projects that needed to be done ASAP. Doing so in a town that is not our residence, and with contractors with whom we were not familiar, made it even more challenging. Through Yelp, we took a chance on finding a contractor to do a test run with a small but time-sensitive project, and Joshua came through with a really great bid and personal touch. His communication was exceptional, and his personality stood out in both in our online communication and again when we met in person. Most importantly, the care and commitment he brought to even this small project, plus the humanity and empathy he showed us during a really difficult time, made all the difference. We relayed to him the scope of the home repairs needed going forward, and asked if they were within his comfort zone. When he responded positively, we told him he was our go-to guy for every project needed on that house, and that we trusted him implicitly to do the work independently. He didn't let us down. He sent photos of his progress and gave us honest appraisals of what could be done, and what prices would be for labor and materials. He worked on a tight timeline and got the work done on time and on budget. Moreover, the quality of the work that he did approaches the level of artisan, not just contractor, to the point where I'd employ him for our own home projects if it was at all possible (it's not, sadly). I don't know what else I can say to relay our impressions of Joshua. He's the best contractor I've ever worked with, and I wish him nothing but success in the future. If you get a chance to work with him on a home project, consider yourself fortunate.
