Came here because on the high rate yelp review. One of my car need oil change service, and due to not having garage like i used to do in Socal. I need a shop to do it instead doing it by myself on the street. So i found here, the closes auto service near me. Drop off the car at 10am, and been told it will be ready to pick up on 2pm. (Mentioning that since a low review talked about challenges getting their VW fixed.) My car maint light came on upon start up and so I figured it was time for an oil change. I checked out the reviews and they were great so I came to this place since it was nearby. I didn't want to go very far due to the upcoming rain. I dropped by around 9am and spoke with Simon. He was great! He told me about the 2 oil options I have for my car and instead of trying to make more money off me, he recommended me the cheaper option saying both oils would burn just as fast because my TV burns oil really fast. I went with his suggestion and it came out to be $55. Car was ready in about 1 hr (probably because they had someone else in front of me). What's awesome was Simon's service. He explained things without me asking and during payment, he told me to pay only $50 since they were out or low on 5s but I didn't have the change, only had $60. He gave me my change but what he did next, I would've been happy to tip the extra $5 regardless. He gave me a free bottle of oil since my car burns the oil fast as I mentioned. He did not have to do this but it was such an amazing gesture. I also had my check engine light on (hopefully the oil change solves that after driving around a couple miles) but Simon said it's not a big deal unless I experience something different while driving or see smoke but if I wanted to get it checked, I can bring it back to the shop. Also, before returning my car back to me, Simon wiped down my door handles, steering wheel and my clutch. Great customer service and safety gesture during covid. Will definitely come back for my next oil change or any repairs I need in the future.! read more

Just as the meter says; Woohoo! As good as it gets! First of all, yeah- it's dirty. But then again, this isn't to be a hospital waiting room. For many, it can be offsetting, but I see it as the more grime, the more charm- and this place has plenty of it. Cars are dealt with quickly and effectively, as most of the wait is based on how long it takes for parts to arrive. They always make sure to explain the problem, as well as showing you the parts they replaced so that you have a better understanding of what exactly it is that is/was going on, which is good for the customer, since many don't have a clue about their cars. Simon and Eric are both very good to work with. I agree with the review before mine- Eric is great to talk to, if you have the time, but it also depends on how busy they are. They definitely have the customers' best interest at heart. I just had to give these guys some yelp review love because just as so many others have said they are incredibly generous and honest. Several months ago a mechanic gave me recommendations for maintenance to be done that he said would cost around $1000. I can't even remember what it was since I'm so not a car guy but he said we should get it done in about 6 months. Fast forward about 4 months later when I was going on a short road trip, I brought my car here for an oil change. They said I would be fine for the trip so no need to worry. Fast forward again about 6 months and I was preparing for another road trip and I wanted them to do a tune up to make sure my car was good to go. I left my car there for two days and when they called me they let me know that my car was fine and didn't even need a tune up. The fan or whatever looked fine and other stuff that gets tuned up were fine so I was told to just come pick up my car. I assumed I would owe them for their time but they wouldn't accept any money. I was floored but they've made a loyal customer out of me! read more

Simon and Eric are friendly and honest. I finally found a trustworthy shop with very reasonable rate. I will definitely recommend this place to my family, friends, and co-workers. Maintenance service was due on my Civic Hybrid for oil & filter, brake fluid, transmission fluid changes. I called for a quote and spoke with Simon. I specifically requested and confirmed on Honda OEM brake and transmission fluids being used for the service. It was half of what Honda dealership quoted me. What a pleasant surprise! Simon explained and broke down the quote to me that he would charge for the parts and 1/2 hour labor for all three items. Dealerships and some shops would have charge separate labor rate for each item, such a rip-off. If you have multiple maintenance services due on your car, this is definitely the place. I was really happy with the work, and my car was ready at the time as promised. Eric even mentioned he sanitized the inside of my car. Well I think I've found my mechanic in the city. Thank you, Yelp for another amazing referral. My poor baby, '98 corolla, needed some major shocks. I mean, I couldn't even drive down Van Ness without it looking like I had hydraulics on it, bouncy, bouncy bounce. As my friend said, "Jesus, Lauren, it's like driving a G* Damn bobble head!" But to replace just the rears is like $500, easy, closer to 6 in the city. The baby also needed new front brakes, AND an oil change. I made a few calls, and ended up going where it was the cheapest. These guys only charged me close to $400 for my struts, an avg. $160 for the brakes, and basically threw in the oil change for free. AND they had it done in 1 day. Flash forward 2 weeks. The brakes are a little squeaky still, so I called them up and told them what was going on. They said to just drop it off and they'd double check everything and make sure everything was good to go. Awesome. Only bummer is that they don't open until 8:30 M-F, 9:00S, and they close at 5PM. A little inconvenient for us who are usually at the office by 8:30 or so, and it's near impossible to pick it up after work, I'd have to leave by 4:15...., but they're cool with you picking it up the next morning, or they'll park it on the street for you, leave your key under the mat or glove box, and if you have a spare, you can pick it up yourself. read more

These guys are amazing mechanics. Honest, nice, and they do good work. Dropped off my 2000 VW Jetta with a broken windshield wiper motor. They took a look, called me an hour later and told me what it would cost to fix and exactly how long the part would take to get there. They were worried that it would rain in the day between when the part arrived and when I needed to drive the car. What sweet peas. They cleaned the area underneath the wipers of all of the tree debris that resided there on a semi-permanent basis, and just did a great job on the installation. i would go back in a second, and refer anyone there. read more

So my check engine light came on this week and as I have to drive to Tahoe this weekend, I felt I should get it checked out. Called the Honda dealer near me, who indicated that "the diagnostic process" would take 2-3 hours and would cost $159. F that. Upon recommendation from a friend, ended up at All Speed. Nowhere near my house, but absolutely worth the drive. Ronnie helped me out -- took him all of 5 minutes to check my car out (related to a smog sensor going out; not a big deal at all, fine to drive). He also checked my brake fluid and topped it off when I told him my brake light came on intermittently, too (and explained why it happens - related to the hills in SF tilting your fluids). The charge for this work? $0. I *am* going to get that sensor fixed though, and All Speed will be doing it for me - I'm sure with the great level of service already experience. Went to this place to do 60K service on WRX, including replacing cabin air filter. Today I bought new filter and doing the replacement myself only to find that there was nothing there! This place took out my cabin air filter and never put anything in it, and charge me for the $50 airfilter. Most people might think they do great job but little that you know that they screw you on places that you would never would have checked yourself. Really shady, stay away. read more

Worst service ever and they don't solve the problem. I'm surprised at the 4.5 star review this place gets and I'm definitely going to find another place for my car. The customer service sucks here. They didn't call us to let us know that the car was ready for pick up and didn't call us for any updates. When we called in to check on the status of the car they apparently changed a sensor without our consent and charged us for it. On top of that they accidentally overcharge us $1000 more than they were supposed to. Even more aggravating is that they told us if the problem persists then they will then investigate further... Which means that they're charging us something that may not have fixed the problem. read more

I went there twice. First time : my old saab had the battery discharging too quickly. He checked the alternator, the battery, and concluded that everything was fine and I had to drive it for a longer time. The car was just too old. After some investigation on the web and on the car, I found that the compartment glove was not closing well, and so the light would stay on. And that the central closing was draining a bit more that what it should. I just removed the fuse for it, and that was done. Second time : check engine light of my mitsubishi went on. He checked the computer code, it was the sparkling plugs. He started to explain me that it was complicated to find the right spark plugs, so he would re-initialize the computer, and maybe the light will not come back. This unassuming garage off of clement street must have something in the air because the staff is super friendly and attentive. We went in after smelling burning plastic while driving the car, and the team quickly isolated the issue to a broken gasket that was resulting in an oil leak. What could have been a 4-6 hour ordeal was a 30 minute repair with a a smile. Can't tell you how hard it is to find a mechanic and how happy we were to find this place. So it's been a year since I've returned to this mechanic, and I'm still experiencing troubles as a result of their poor work. Somebody needs to rectify their overwhelmingly strong reviews, IF YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR A GOOD MECHANIC IN SAN FRANCISCO KEEP SEARCHING. (If you own a BMW, go hit up Euro Motorcars, best mechanics I've ever met) Details: I own a '99 BMW 323i. I do most of my own work on the car, but occasionally need a shop to help with the more challenging repairs. It is possible that these guys just don't do well with German cars, many auto shops specialize and it's understandable. That said, when you don't know what you're doing with a car, send it the customer to another shop. Simon is the lead mechanic at All Speed, an old Asian man who speaks broken English. That said, I'm a San Francisco native and no stranger to having to decipher a few accents - my experience combined with glowing yelp reviews led me to give the man the benefit of the doubt over a few encounters. My first trip to All Speed involved a pothole that led to a broken control arm. Simon replaced one control arm and sent me on my way. I now have a second broken control arm, as I've learned recently that proper procedure on my generation of BMWs is to replace both control arms in sync, otherwise you risk the uneven distribution causing additional damage. Thanks for doing your homework Simon. My second trip to All Speed required me to replace my clutch that had finally blown. Simon seemed particularly confused on the inner workings of a clutch as I explained the problem to him, and again as he explained the estimate to me. Almost as though my car were a guinea pig for him to learn to work on clutches. No less than a month later, my clutch died again. That is obscene. 1 clutch lasts 11 years and the next that he confusedly installed dies a month later? Bullshit. I went right back and demanded they fix it. They charged me for parts this time, but not labor (a slight consolation), and once again replaced the clutch. Something around two and a half thousand dollars later, I am still recovering from their repairs, as I'll be taking my car in Friday to my new mechanic deal with the second control arm issue. It's a shame they perform so poorly, as Phil, owner of the body shop that shares the same lot is great and runs a very professional business. Avoid All Speed Motors at any and all costs - this is not a trustworthy shop. If I wanted to experiment on my car, I'd do it myself. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for sooo long! But this place is absoulutly amazing! My car ended up Running out of battery about 10 or 15 blocks from my house ( which was pretty close to All Speed Motors). It was on a Monday night so I decided to wait till the morning before I would do anything about it. The next morning I find all speed motors, I call them and they are really great!! Instead of me having to get my car towed and brought to there location they drive me to my car, switch my battery and I follow them back ( at no extra cost to me) Then on top of that they do all the work at a really reasonable rate!!!! And have it done that day! They did a fantastic job fixing my alternator (I believe that's the spelling) on my Honda civic that if I ever have another car trouble I will defiently be going back to them for there help!!!! read more

I've taken about 6-7 cars here for regular and unscheduled service for about 7 years. Never had an issue with bad service or high prices. Fair prices, honest service, personable guy. Electrical problems, overheating, odd smell, tune-ups...all have been solved here. I read a couple reviews about the dirty shop - honestly, would you trust a mechanic that has a clean shop? Clean shop = no business, or someone is cleaning and charging you a higher price and passing costs onto you. read more

I went to the dealer to get a 105,000 mile maintenance on my car. The technician that was working with me had to prep me on the price of the maintainence which came to almost 2gs! Ridiculous! I decided to find a mechanic that would do the job for a more reasonable price. My cousin Herman had recommended all speed. The great thing is, they're also a couple blocks from my house. How convenient is that? Eric quoted me a more than fair price and even said that a service that the dealer wanted me to get was not needed. I felt that they were really watching out for me as a customer and not trying to rip me off. All speed got the repairs done in day and Eric explained all the repairs to me. Honest, Communicative, and Reasonably Priced! My beater car had issues starting, and it wasn't the battery or starter (which I could've fixed on my own). I won't go in depth on the car's issue, but the bottom line is Eric took great care of me. Upon meeting him for the first time, he presents a very friendly persona, which definitely helps ease the mind of the customer. This is the type of mechanic that I will go back to again and again. Eric was polite, efficient, honest and fair with his service. He saved me a few hundred bucks by just fixing what was in my engine instead of making me buy new parts. He was able to jimmy rig (really really high quality jimmy rigging) my heat shield so that it would stop vibrating, and he just fixed the belts that were already there instead of making me buy new ones. I was only charged for labor and ended up paying $60. My car runs well now and no longer makes terrible noises when I turn it on or get to 2000 rpm. I highly recommend these folks. read more

Eric is extremely helpful and honest, two words you don't usually use when talking about a mechanic! We took our Beetle in to have a sunroof leak fixed and he did it quickly and at a very low cost, compared to Royal Motors that tried to rip us off by quoting over $300. He also fixed a broken headlight for free and ordered a needed part before we even knew it was needed. The best part is All Speed does quality work quickly! We had all of our minor repairs done under 2 hours, where again Royal quoted 2 or 3 days! read more
